Overview: Reed’s commitment to Auburn over Georgia in 2020 generated quite the buzz. A four-star, Reed was rated by 247Sports, Rivals, and ESPN as one of the top seven recruits in Louisiana and ranked in the top 15 nationally at his position. Formerly a safety, Reed was moved to the cornerback position this spring and nearly pulled off an impressive interception during A-Day. Roterius Torrence announced his decommitment from the Vols on Tuesday.

Torrence committed to Tennessee on May 24.

The 6-foot-3, 195-pound cornerback is a JUCO transfer from Hutchinson Community College.

Torrence appeared in seven games as a sophomore for the Blue Dragons, recording 20 tackles and six pass deflections.

“First, I would like to thank the whole Tennessee staff for giving me an opportunity to be part of something big and taking a chance on me,” Torrence said on Twitter. “After talking with my family, I decided that I will decommit from the University of Tennessee. I hope you guys can respect my decision.”

Roterius Torrence commits to Tennessee

Roterius Torrence commits to Tennessee.

The University of Tennessee football team and head coach Josh Heupel landed a verbal commitment from a top junior college player Monday.

Roterius “Ro” Torrence, who played this spring at Hutchinson Community College, announced his commitment to the Volunteers on a social media post via Twitter on Monday.

The 6-foot-3, 195-pound cornerback also garnered interest from Auburn and Mississippi State from the Southeastern Conference, as well as Nebraska and Oregon State.

He recently completed his season at Hutchinson as the team played in the spring as the school’s fall season was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The future Vol appeared in seven games as a sophomore for the Blue Dragons.

Torrence made 20 tackles and had six pass deflections.
