Fighters from Saturday’s UFC 303 took home UFC Promotional Guidelines Compliance pay totaling $306,500.

LAS VEGAS – Fighters from Saturday’s UFC 303 event took home UFC Promotional Guidelines Compliance pay totaling $311,500.

The program, a comprehensive plan that includes outfitting requirements, media obligations and other items under the fighter code of conduct, replaces the previous payments made under the UFC Athlete Outfitting Policy.

UFC 303 took place at T-Mobile Arena. The main card aired on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and ESPN+.

Under the UFC Promotional Guidelines Compliance program’s payout tiers, which appropriate the money generated by Venum’s multi-year sponsorship with the UFC, fighters are paid based on their total number of UFC bouts, as well as Zuffa-era WEC fights (January 2007 and later) and Zuffa-era Strikeforce bouts (April 2011 and later). Fighters with 1-3 bouts receive $4,000 per appearance; 4-5 bouts get $4,500; 6-10 bouts get $6,000; 11-15 bouts earn $11,000; 16-20 bouts pocket $16,000; and 21 bouts and more get $21,000. Additionally, champions earn $42,000 while title challengers get $32,000.

In addition to experience-based pay, UFC fighters will receive in perpetuity royalty payments amounting to 20-30 percent of any UFC merchandise sold that bears their likeness, according to officials.

UFC 303 results: Roman Dolidze gets short-notice nod over former title challenger Anthony Smith

Fighting on short notice in a higher weight class resulted in a skid-snapping win for Roman Dolidze at UFC 303 in Las Vegas.

[autotag]Roman Dolidze[/autotag] stepped up for a short-notice battle in a higher weight class and came away with a win.

Usually a middleweight competitor, Dolidze (13-3 MMA, 7-3 UFC) offered his services to fill in against Anthony Smith at light heavyweight on the main card of UFC 303 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. After 15 minutes, Dolidze earned a unanimous nod over Smith (38-20 MMA, 13-10 UFC) with scores of 30-27, 29-28 and 29-28.

Dolidze set the tone early with a series of kicks targeting Smith’s legs, body and head. While Smith pressured forward looking to land punches, Dolidze attacked with kicks targeting the lead leg. Smith added a few kicks of his own, but one that missed prompted a friendly taunt from Dolidze.

As the leg kick battle continued, heavy punches were added to the mix late in the round, although a few boos were heard as the fighters returned to their corners.

Round 2 picked up right where it left off, but a big moment occurred when Dolidze blitzed forward, causing Smith to stumble to the ground. Dolidze rained in heavy punches as Smith covered up, eventually leading to top ground control as he realized the finish wasn’t there.

Smith exploded to his feet with less than half a minute to go, looking to land a big haymaker. Instead, Dolidze landed nicely.

Dolidze broke out a dancing taunt early in Round 3 as Smith targeted his legs with kicks. Smith smiled and touched gloves with Dolidze after, and they returned to trading intermittent strikes.

More boos from the crowd poured in with two minutes left, and both fighters responded by offering a higher volume of punches for a moment. But the fight reached the final horn, and the crowd voiced more displeasure with the contest.

With the unanimous decision win, Dolidze snaps a two-fight losing skid. The Georgian entered this short-notice bout on the heels of a pair of decision losses to Marvin Vettori and Nassourdine Imavov.

DOLIDZE (-140) is a solid play in this main card bout. Smith (+115) has been a little inconsistent lately, and he has suffered 5 losses in 10 bouts since May 2020. In 3 of those bouts, Smith was dropped via KO/TKO.

On the flip side, Dolidze is a knockout machine, topping Kyle Daukaus, Phil Hawes and Jack Hermansson via KO/TKO in 3 straight fights from June-December 2022.

Dolidze isn’t a bad play on the 2-way line straight up, but if you’re a little more adventurous, taking DOLIDZE BY KO/TKO, DQ OR SUBMISSION (+175) for the method of victory is certainly worth a roll of the dice, too, given the Georgian’s success via knockout.

However, Smith’s defense isn’t great at times, and Dolidze can end things quickly.

Without declaring a winner, you could also select the exact round the fight will end. ROUND 1 (+275) and ROUND 2 (+350) are good plays. If the fight ends in either round, you obviously lose one end, but you’re still ahead.

If you’re a little more conservative, NO (-150): WILL FIGHT GO THE DISTANCE? could be a strong play, too.

Former light heavyweight title challenger Smith (38-19 MMA, 13-9 UFC) steps up on short notice and finds himself sharing the cage with a middleweight. This will be Smith’s second fight of the year, and he will look to make it back-to-back wins following a first-round submission of Vitor Petrino at UFC 301 in May. If successful, it will be the first time “Lionheart” has won consecutively since 2021. … Dolidze (12-3 MMA, 6-3 UFC) is the other half of this short-notice affair. The middleweight goes up in weight for this event, looking to halt a two-fight skid. Dolidze ended up on the wrong side of the judges’ scorecards against Nassourdine Imavov in February and Marvin Vettori last March.

Despite stepping in to save an aborted co-main event between Jamahal Hill and Carlos Ulberg (that was originally slated to be Hill vs. Khalil Rountree), Smith now finds himself in an impromptu matchup at 205 pounds with UFC middleweight, Dolidze.

Even though Smith is no stranger to stepping in on short notice, Dolidze provides a unique challenge regardless of weight class.

An unpredictable wildman by nature, Dolidze is deceptively agile for his size and comes with a plethora of opportunistic submissions in his back pocket.

Smith may be a skilled Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, but he’ll need to respect the danger that Dolidze presents. That said, I can’t help but side with the veteran in this spot.

Aside from the fact that Dolidze lacks a reliable process to produce replicable wins, the native of Georgia appears to tire as fights wear on (even when on a full camp).

Add in the fact that Nassourdine Imavov was able to hurt Dolidze badly with a combination that resembled some of the finishes that Smith scored over UFC middleweights in the past, I’ll side with “Lionheart” to produce a semi-surprising stoppage in Round 3.

With the 12th annual International Fight Week festivities ramping into high gear, fighters took the stage to answer questions from the media and then faced off for the first time ahead of the event which takes place at T-Mobile Arena and airs on ESPN+ pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and ESPN+.

LAS VEGAS – [autotag]Roman Dolidze[/autotag] is familiar with studying [autotag]Anthony Smith[/autotag].

Dolidze (12-3 MMA, 6-3 UFC) steps in on short notice to face Smith (38-19 MMA, 13-9 UFC) in a light heavyweight bout on Saturday’s UFC 303 (pay-per-view, ESPN, ESPN+) main card at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Smith is coming off a first-round submission of Vitor Petrino at UFC 301, bouncing the Brazilian out of the ranks of the unbeaten. Although “Lionheart” has alternated wins and losses in his past five fights, Dolidze knows not to underestimate him.

“He has a lot of experience and if we will think about his last fight, everybody thought that he will lose that fight, but he won,” Dolidze told MMA Junkie and other reporters at a pre-fight news conference Wednesday.

“And that’s the best answer I can give to you. You never know what a fighter experienced like him can do in his fight, but of course we all understand that the best days he had are in the past. But I still (value) him for everything what he has done for this sport.”

Smith is a former title challenger. He faced [autotag]Jon Jones[/autotag] for the light heavyweight title at UFC 235 in 2019 but lost by unanimous decision. Dolidze says Jones sought help from him for Smith’s ground game.

“In the past, I also helped Jones to prepare for a fight with Smith, and Jones was very concerned about his jiu-jitsu,” Dolidze said. “I remember it good and exactly that’s why I was training with him. That’s why I respect (Smith), and I’m not taking him like, ‘Oh, he’s done’ or something like that, and I will not say that to you just to hype this thing.”

[autotag]Carlos Ulberg[/autotag] has been forced out of his June 29 main card matchup vs. [autotag]Anthony Smith[/autotag] at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Replacing Ulberg will be [autotag]Roman Dolidze[/autotag], who returns to light heavyweight.

The UFC officially announced the news Friday following an initial report from Vestnik MMA. Benny P was first to report Ulberg’s withdrawal, although a reason hasn’t been disclosed.

Ulberg (9-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) landed on UFC 303 by replacing Khalil Rountree against Jamahal Hill. Hill was then forced out due a knee injury. and was replaced by Smith (38-19 MMA, 13-9 UFC). Now Smith will take on Dolidze, who started out his career at 205 pounds.

After winning four straight, including three finishes over Kyle Daukaus, Phil Hawes, and Jack Hermansson, Dolidze (12-3 MMA, 6-3 UFC) dropped back-to-back decisions to Marvin Vettori and Nassourdine Imavov.

Former title challenger Smith was looking to halt the momentum of another rising contender after submitting Vitor Petrino in just two minutes at UFC 301, handing the Brazilian his first-career loss. The former title challenger has won two of his past three.

Michel Pereira, Roman Dolidze give conflicting perspectives on potential UFC booking

Reports of Michel Pereira making another quick turnaround to fight Roman Dolidze at UFC Louisville appear to have jumped the gun.

Reports of [autotag]Michel Pereira[/autotag] making another quick turnaround to fight [autotag]Roman Dolidze[/autotag] at UFC Fight Night in Louisville, Ky., appear to have jumped the gun.

Following his 54-second finish at UFC 301 this past weekend, Pereira (31-11 MMA, 9-2 UFC) was reported to meet Dolidze (12-3 MMA, 6-3 UFC) in a three-round middleweight bout.

However, on Friday, Pereira took to social media to explain that he never signed a contract or even verbally agreed to the matchup, mainly because Dolidze is a teammate and training partner at Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas.

“I didn’t accept that fight, OK?” Pereira said in Portuguese (HT: Ag Fight). “That man, he trains with me every day. He trains with me at UFC P.I. He trains at Xtreme Couture and he fights. Got it? He accepted and I didn’t. For me, now is not the time to fight him. If he accepted, that’s his problem.

“I was even surprised when he accepted. I didn’t accept this fight, OK? Got it? I said if it was someone else I would take it. But as it is with him, now is not the time for me to fight him yet. Because for me, he was my friend, my training partner, for me, in my head. But I saw then that’s it’s not. … Since we train, I’d have to look for another gym to train at. I’d have to organize myself to do a fight with him.”

Brazil’s Pereira is coming off a first-round, bonus-earning submission victory over Potieria at UFC 301 in Rio de Janeiro. The one-month turnaround would’ve been the fastest of his UFC career thus far, but now, as he sits on an eight-fight winning streak inside the octagon, his next move is unclear.

Dolidze appeared to have no such qualms with taking a fight against Pereira. He acknowledged their training relationship, but the Georgian was under the impression Pereira had accepted and both sides were going to keep it professional (via X):

Yes we train together.
I was told that he agreed to fight in June 8 (not June 1 when I was originally supposed to fight ) and ufc ask me to change date. Yesterday they send me contract.
If they ask me to change date (which he asked for) and he agree of course I signed contract.

Now, though Dolidze sees his struggles to keep active continue, with the scratched Pereira matchup joining fights with Anthony Hernandez, Jared Cannonier and Derek Brunson on the list of his canceled bouts since November.
