Warriors’ Draymond Green (ankle) to return from injury on minutes restriction

The veteran forward will return to the court on a minutes restriction after missing two games with an ankle injury.

After missing two games due to an ankle injury, Sunday will mark the return of Draymond Green to the Golden State Warriors’ rotation. Green missed every preseason game for the Warriors along with most of training camp due to his ankle injury.

After splitting two games with with a loss to the Phoenix Suns and a win against the Sacramento Kings, the Warriors will welcome Green back to the lineup on Sunday against the Houston Rockets.

However, the Warriors will likely be cautious when it comes to welcoming back Green to the rotation.  According to Steve Kerr, the former Defensive Player of the Year will be on a minutes restriction on Sunday night.

NBA Twitter reacts to Steph Curry’s 40 point performance in Warriors’ win vs. Rockets on Monday

After Steph Curry put on a show for 40 points in the Warriors’ win over the Rockets on Monday, NBA Twitter chimed in with different reactions.

After hitting a game-winning jumper the last time the Golden State Warriors met the Houston Rockets, Steph Curry found a different way to leave his impact in Monday’s rematch.

Through the first three-quarters of the game, Curry tallied 19 points on 6-of-13 shooting from the floor as the Warriors gripped to a nine-point advantage over the Rockets. Yet in the fourth quarter, Golden State’s All-Star point guard wasn’t done.

With 12 minutes remaining in the contest, Curry took over. As the Warriors surged to a 122-108 win in Houston, Curry notched 21 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field with four 3-pointers in the final frame alone.

Despite his late fireworks, Curry appeared to receive some trash talk with Houston guard Kevin Porter Jr. after the pair of players exchanged buckets. Words from Porter Jr. in the second half seemed to spark Curry’s run in the fourth quarter.

Curry ended the final say, finishing the contest with a game-high 40 points on 13-of-23 shooting from the floor and 7-of-14 shooting from long distance. Curry added nine assists, five boards, a steal and a blocked shot in 38 minutes against the Rockets.

After battling a recent slump, Curry’s 40 point effort was his highest-scoring mark since a 46 point performance against the Memphis Grizzlies on Dec. 23, 2021.

Following Curry’s red-hot fourth quarter against the Rockets, the NBA community on Twitter chimed in with a flurry of reactions. Here’s a look at what fans and analysts were saying on Monday night.

3 things to know: Explosive 3rd quarter from Steph Curry fuels Warriors past Rockets, 113-87

After an explosive third quarter with 23 points from Steph Curry, the Warriors coasted to a much-need victory over the Rockets, 113-87.

After dropping back-to-back losses in the middle of a run to the postseason, the Golden State Warriors secured a much-need victory over the Houston Rockets on Saturday night, 113-87.

Although the contest looked in favor of the Rockets after a slow start from Steph Curry, the Warriors bounced back in the third quarter. After shooting 2-of-12 from the field and 2-of-10 from beyond the arc, the seven-time All-Star guard responded with an explosive 23 point performance in the third quarter.

Despite double-figure scoring efforts from five different members of the Rockets, including 16 points from both Kevin Porter Jr and Keyon Martin Jr., it wasn’t enough after Curry’s nuclear run in the third quarter. After dropping a 39 point quarter on Houston, Golden State cruised to a victory with Curry and Draymond Green sitting on the bench for most of the final 12 minute period. Curry finished the contest with 30 points on 9-of-23 shooting from the field in 31 minutes.

After snapping their two-game losing streak, the Warriors will head to New Orleans for a crucial back-to-back with playoff implications.

Before halftime, the Warriors trailed the Rockets by six points, 55-49. At the start of the fourth quarter, the Warriors looked like a different team. Curry led Golden State’s furious run, scoring 23 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field with five triples. Andrew Wiggins added six points on 3-of-4 from the floor. During the third quarter, a fierce 24-0 run helped push the Warriors to a 39-12 third quarter. At the end of the third quarter, Golden State led Houston, 88-67.

Mychal Mulder

With Kelly Oubre Jr. and Damion Lee sidelined, Mychal Mulder has shifted into a lead role in Golden State’s second unit. Mulder has now scored in double figures in four consecutive games.

Juan Toscano-Anderson

While Juan Toscano-Anderson notched six points on 2-of-4 shooting from the field, the Oakland native recorded new career-bests on the defensive side of the floor.
