T.Y. Hilton among injured Colts in win over Lions

Reich gives updates on injuries.

The Indianapolis Colts (5-2) came away with a dominating 41-21 win over the Detroit Lions (3-4) on Sunday at Ford Field but did emerge from the game with a few injury notes.

Following the win, head coach Frank Reich updated the media on some of the injury notes that they had. Wide receiver T.Y. Hilton suffered a groin injury just before the end of the first half. He was ruled out for the game pretty quickly.

Reich also mentioned that wide receiver Ashton Dulin suffered an ankle injury and cornerback Rock Ya-Sin is in the concussion protocol.

It isn’t clear how severe Hilton’s groin injury is. However, he hasn’t made much of an impact and only had two catches for nine yards on Sunday before the injury.

Reich will be giving more of an update on Monday when he meets with the media, but we likely won’t know much until the injury reports come out on Wednesday.

Colts injury updates: Darius Leonard dealing with groin injury

Injury updates following the Week 4 win.

The Indianapolis Colts (3-1) came away with a big 19-11 win on Sunday over the Chicago Bears (3-1) at Soldier Field, but they did see injuries to some prominent players on the defensive side of the ball.

First, linebacker Darius Leonard suffered a groin injury during the first half of the game on Sunday. Head coach Frank Reich confirmed the injury when speaking to reporters in the postgame interview. However, the Colts aren’t sure how serious the injury is at this point.

His status will need to be monitored over the next few days as the Colts prepare for the Cleveland Browns (3-1) in Week 5.

Another injury that will need to be monitored comes with cornerback Rock Ya-Sin. In the fourth quarter, Ya-Sin suffered a non-contact injury and walked gingerly off the field. He was attended to on the field by the training staff before leaving.

Reich said he hadn’t heard any update about Ya-Sin’s injury before he spoke to the media following the game. Hopefully, it isn’t too serious, especially after he had a strong performance on Sunday.

The Colts won’t practice until Wednesday when they prepare for the Browns, but there’s a chance we get an update on Monday when Reich follows up with the media again.

Colts’ final injury report vs. Bears in Week 4

Final injury report for the Colts in Week 4.

The Indianapolis Colts (2-1) released their final injury report on Friday ahead of their Week 4 matchup against the Chicago Bears (3-0) at Soldier Field.

Relatively speaking, the Colts are pretty healthy. We already knew that rookie wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. and veteran cornerback T.J. Carrie were ruled out, and that seems to be the extent of the injury report for the Colts this week.

Here’s a look at the final injury report for Indy in Week 4:

*DNP = Did Not Participate | LP = Limited Participant | FP = Full Participant*

Name Position Injury Wed. (9/30) Thurs. (10/1) Fri. (10/2) Game Status
Michael Pittman Jr. WR Calf DNP DNP DNP OUT
Nyheim Hines RB Shoulder LP FP FP
Rock Ya-Sin CB Illness LP FP FP
T.J. Carrie CB Hamstring LP DNP OUT
Anthony Castonzo OT Rest DNP
T.Y. Hilton WR Rest DNP
Justin Houston DE Rest DNP
Denico Autry DE Rest DNP

With Pittman Jr. and Carrie out, the Colts only have two players ruled out for the game. Pittman Jr. is expected to miss a few weeks while it isn’t clear how long Carrie will be dealing with the hamstring injury that popped up on Thursday.

It also isn’t clear whether the Colts will see the return of tight end Trey Burton (calf) and defensive tackle Sheldon Day (knee), both of which are currently on the injured reserve list but eligible to return. Day practiced all three days while Burton practiced every day but Friday.

Aside from a few players on the injured reserve list, the Colts are entering this matchup relatively healthy and ready to go.

Colts vs. Bears: Who has the edge in Week 4?

Colts injury report: RB Nyheim Hines a full participant

A look at the injury report on Thursday.

The Indianapolis Colts (2-1) released their injury report for Thursday’s practice as they prepare for the Week 4 matchup with the Chicago Bears (3-0) at Soldier Field.

The injury report doesn’t look too bad for the Colts all things considered. After being a limited participant on Wednesday due to a shoulder injury, running back Nyheim Hines returned to a full status on Thursday.

It also seems that cornerback Rock Ya-Sin will be making his return to game action for the first time since Week 1 after dealing with an illness.

Here’s a look at the injury report for the Colts on Thursday:

*DNP = Did Not Participate | LP = Limited Participant | FP = Full Participant*

Name Position Injury Wed. (9/30) Thurs. (10/1)
Michael Pittman Jr. WR Calf DNP DNP
Nyheim Hines RB Shoulder LP FP
Rock Ya-Sin CB Illness LP FP
T.J. Carrie CB Hamstring LP

The rookie wide receiver in Pittman Jr. shouldn’t be expected to practice or play for at least a few weeks after he suffered compartment leg syndrome. He may not return until after the Week 7 bye.

Carrie will be one to monitor for Friday after seemingly suffering a hamstring injury and was a limited participant on Thursday.

The Colts have one more practice ahead of the Week 4 matchup with the injury designations being released on Friday.

Colts injury report: CB Rock Ya-Sin returns to practice

A look at the injury report on Wednesday.

After grabbing their second win in a row, the Indianapolis Colts (2-1) are back on the practice field to prepare for their Week 4 road matchup against the Chicago Bears (3-0) at Soldier Field.

As head coach Frank Reich told reporters earlier this week, the Colts saw the return of cornerback Rock Ya-Sin to the practice field. He has missed the last two games with an illness that required a procedure in Week 2.

Also, the injury that will keep rookie Michael Pittman Jr. out for a few weeks is officially being listed as a calf injury.

Here’s a look at the injury report from Wednesday’s practice for the Colts:

*DNP = Did Not Participate | LP = Limited Participant | FP = Full Participant*

Name Position Injury Wed. (9/30)
Michael Pittman Jr. WR Calf DNP
Nyheim Hines RB Shoulder LP
Rock Ya-Sin CB Illness LP

Hines is a new addition to the injury report so his status will be monitored over the next few days when the Colts practice. It’s encouraging that he was at least limited to begin the week, which gives him a strong chance to log a full practice before the injury designations come out on Friday.

It should also be noted that the Colts saw the return of tight end Trey Burton (calf) and defensive tackle Sheldon Day (knee) on Wednesday. They are both eligible to return from the injured reserve list this week.

3 injured Colts expected back at practice this week

Colts get some injured players back at practice.

The Indianapolis Colts are expected to see the return of three injured players at practice this week, including cornerback Rock Ya-Sin, who has been inactive for the last two games.

Along with Ya-Sin returning to practice when the team gets on the field this week includes tight end Trey Burton (calf) and defensive tackle Sheldon Day (knee).

Head coach Frank Reich told reporters Monday that Burton and Day are eligible to practice after their three-week stint on the injured reserve list.

“Rock (Ya-Sin) will be back at practice this week. We’ll evaluate him. I’m not sure status as we go, but at some point he’ll be back to practice this week. We’ll see and we’ll be optimistic and hopefully we can get him going,” Reich said. “Trey Burton and Sheldon Day – same thing. They are eligible to come back. We’ll get them back at practice, evaluate how they’re doing and make the roster decisions from there.”

Ya-Sin had a procedure done for what the Colts labeled as a Non-football illness. Reich wouldn’t go int details on what that means, but he did say they expected the second-year cornerback to return soon.

Burton suffered a calf injury during the final scrimmage at training camp and wound up starting the season on the injured reserve list. The Colts aren’t sure if he will be able to return this week for the matchup against the Chicago Bears.

Day missed most of training camp after having a procedure done on his knee this offseason and started the season on the injured reserve list.

The Colts return to practice Wednesday to prepare for the road matchup with the Bears so the injury reports will be one to monitor this week.

Colts expecting CB Rock Ya-Sin to return soon

Rock Ya-Sin will be inactive in Week 3.

Indianapolis Colts cornerback Rock Ya-Sin will be inactive for the second consecutive game when the New York Jets visit Lucas Oil Stadium, but the team is hopeful he will be returning soon.

Ya-Sin has been dealing with an ambiguous injury. He was a surprise scratch due to what was labeled as a stomach issue in Week 2, but head coach Frank Reich told reporters Friday that Ya-Sin had a procedure done.

Even with that, Reich is optimistic it will be a quick recovery.

“He just had a procedure that I’m really not going to shed any more light on, but we are optimistic that he is healing quickly and will be back soon,” Reich said.

It isn’t fully clear what happened with Ya-Sin. The question asked was in regards to a procedure on his appendix, but Reich didn’t confirm that.

Ya-Sin has been showing developments in his second season after a strong training camp and opening game but will be out for at least this Sunday.

In his absence, the Colts will be leaning on Xavier Rhodes, Kenny Moore II and T.J. Carrie to lead the secondary.

Colts rule out CB Rock Ya-Sin vs. Jets in Week 3

Ya-Sin will miss his second straight game.

Indianapolis Colts cornerback Rock Ya-Sin and linebacker Matthew Adams have been ruled out for the Week 3 matchup against the New York Jets, head coach Frank Reich told the media Friday.

Ya-Sin has been dealing with a stomach bug that made him a surprise scratch in Week 2 against the Vikings. He failed to practice all week because of it and will now miss his second consecutive game.

Adams suffered an ankle injury during the 28-11 win against the Vikings and is expected to miss a few weeks. He also didn’t log a practice this week.

While these two players have been ruled out, the Colts may see the return of tight end Jack Doyle, The veteran tight end logged a full practice on Friday, which bodes well for his chances to play on Sunday against the Jets. He has been dealing with ankle and knee injuries and will be listed as questionable on the final injury report.

The Colts and Jets are set to kickoff Sunday at 4:05 p.m. ET at Lucas Oil Stadium. The final injury report will be released later on Friday.

Colts injury updates: Parris Campbell undecided on surgery

Frank Reich gives some injury updates.

Like many teams this week, the Indianapolis Colts (1-1) went through some serious injuries in their 28-11 win against the Minnesota Vikings (0-2) at Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday.

The worst of it came with two starters on opposite sides of the ball. Wide receiver Parris Campbell suffered PCL and MCL injuries on a nasty hit from Harrison Smith while safety Malik Hooker is officially out for the remainder of the season due to a torn Achilles.

Head coach Frank Reich spoke to the media Monday and gave some updates on the injured players:

WR Parris Campbell

Campbell suffered injuries to his PCL and MCL but avoided the ACL. Regardless, there is a strong likelihood he misses the remainder of the season. However, the second-year wideout is undecided on whether he will go under the knife or simply try to rehab it without surgery.

Reich quote: “Parris (Campbell), I’m sure you saw the news – the MCL-PCL injury. He’s going to miss some time. We’re just going to continue and evaluate his injury really to make the determination on his status. We’ll leave that up to the doctors. Not sure if he’s going to need a procedure yet, but we’ll defer to our doctors and training staff there.”

S Malik Hooker

Reich confirmed what we already knew about the fourth-year safety. Hooker tore his Achilles—the second player to do so in as many weeks—and will miss the remainder of the season. Hooker will be a free agent following the end of the 2020 campaign and could have played his final snap in Indy.

Reich quote: “Obviously with Malik (Hooker), unfortunately he did have an Achilles injury that will end his season. I just talked to Malik a little bit ago. I feel awful for him. He had a great offseason, was playing well in many respects. Tough news for him, but I believe Malik’s best football is ahead of him and hopefully he’ll go through this recovery very quickly.”

CB Rock Ya-Sin

A surprise inactive for the Week 2 home opener, Ya-Sin was unavailable for the matchup after coming down with what seems like a pretty serious stomach bug. It’s so serious, in fact, that Reich is undecided on whether the second-year cornerback will be available in Week 3 for the Jets matchup.

Rech quote: “After being evaluated at the hospital yesterday, Rock (Ya-Sin) was diagnosed with a non-football related illness. I’m not going to go into the details of that right now, but it is too early to tell what his status will be for this week.”

LB Matthew Adams

Reich simply confirmed that Adams has an ankle injury without going into much detail. We will have to monitor the injury report this week to determine his status for the Week 3 home game against the Jets.

Stock up, Stock down in Colts’ 28-11 win over Vikings

Colts’ Rock Ya-Sin (illness) a surprise scratch vs. Vikings

Rock Ya-Sin inactive with a stomach bug.

There was a surprise when the Indianapolis Colts released their inactive players list ahead of the Week 2 matchup with the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday as cornerback Rock Ya-Sin won’t play due to an illness.

This is a surprise and one that will certainly be felt on Sunday when the Vikings offense is on the field. Coming off of a Week 1 loss that saw the Colts allow a 95% completion rate to Gardner Minshew, the absence of Ya-Sin will be tough for a secondary with many question marks.

The Colts may have a tougher time defending Vikings star wide receiver Adam Thielen now. He’s coming off of a Week 1 performance that included six receptions for 110 yards and two touchdowns against the Packers.

With Ya-Sin inactive, the Colts will lean on veteran Xavier Rhodes and T.J. Carrie to be the boundary corners while Kenny Moore II works in the slot. There is also a chance they put Moore not the boundary in base defense.

A stomach bug is what will keep Ya-Sin out of the Week 2 matchup, and it will likely have a large impact on the game Sunday.
