Few movies embody the 1980s quite like RoboCop. The scifi classic overflows with biting satirical commentary along with fantastic visual effects, and Rogue City will attempt to reshape that brilliant formula into a video game.
During the Nacon Connect event on Thursday, the first-ever gameplay footage of RoboCop: Rogue City was shown off. While the first-person shooter is based on the 1987 film, it tells a whole-new story. Surprisingly, the game will use original actor Peter Weller’s likeness too. Teyon, best known for the cult classic Terminator: Resistance, is the studio developing RoboCop: Rogue City.

Murphy’s trademark green targeting system should make for some engaging combat scenarios. Teyon will undoubtedly have many cute references like that all over the game.
Following the original film’s success, there have been dozens of RoboCop follow-ups and spinoffs. Most notably, its sequels RoboCop 2 (1990) and RoboCop 3 (1993). Neither of which captured the original’s magic, though.
While there’s no firm release date for RoboCop: Rogue City yet, it’s slated to come out sometime in June 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
