WATCH: Robert Williams III scores 16 points, 8 rebounds vs. Charlotte Hornets

Timelord continued to excel in his new role starting for the Boston Celtics.

It may well end up being a moot point by the time veteran big man Tristan Thompson gets back on the court if it isn’t already. But, Boston Celtics third-year center Robert Williams continued to add to his case to lock up starting duties at his position in the Celtics 116 – 86 blowout of the Charlotte Hornets Sunday night.

The Texas A&M product had another hyper-efficient outing against the Hornets, going 7-of-9 from the floor overall and 2-of-2 from the free throw line to score 16 points and 8 rebounds on the night, with a pair of assists and steals for good measure.

Timelord played 25 minutes of game time with 0 turnovers, but was getting the whistle a bot more than usual, with 5 personal fouls on the evening.

The Louisiana native next faces the massive test of Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers Tuesday night — about as tough of a test any big man can get in today’s league.

WATCH: Robert Williams III, Terry Rozier exchange jerseys after Hornets blowout

Timelord and Scary Terry were clearly happy to reunite briefly postgame.

While they only played together for a single season in 2018-19, a bond formed between Scary Terry and Timelord that appears to have endured up to the present.

Now a Charlotte Hornet, Terry Rozier played with Robert Williams III for his rookie season, Rozier’s last before being double signed-and-traded to the Hornets for current Celtics starting point guard Kemba Walker in the following offseason. Now, both are thriving in their current situation, with Williams having worked his way up to the starting role on the Celtics and Rozier putting up outstanding numbers with Charlotte at 20.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game.

After the Celtics blew out a short-handed Hornets on Sunday, the pair exchanged jerseys, the atmosphere more one of friends reuniting after a long time apart more so than old foes after a decisive win.

Celtics stats snapshot: Robert Williams III has historic night vs. Houston

Timelord had a stat line for the ages against the Rockets on Friday.

Boston Celtics starting center Robert Williams III had more than a career night starting in a big game against the Houston Rockets as the Celtics would waltz to a 118 – 102 win over the Texas franchise Friday night in no small part due to his play.

It was easily Timelord’s most impressive game yet; he put up 20 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists on a perfect 9-of-9 shooting night from the floor. But that stat line was impressive for more than just the Texas A&M product according to a number of statistical historians weighing in on Williams’ outstanding performance against the Rockets.

But the stat line he produced was special in several ways.

WATCH: Robert Williams III career night vs. Rox – 20 points, 9 boards, 8 assists

Timelord dropped his Tardis on the Houston Rockets Friday night with a career performance cementing his case to be a starter.

Boston Celtics big man Robert Williams III must have heard the debate on whether he should be the team’s starting center ahead of the Celtics’ 118 – 108 blowout of the Houston Rockets at TD Garden on Friday night.

Perhaps not, but something seemed to be lifting Timelord’s tardis to the occasion, with the Texas A&M product having a career night against the Rockets with Williams scoring 20 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists, a steal and 2 blocks in a near triple-double. The Louisiana native went a perfect 9-of-9 from the floor and 2-of-3 from the free throw line in 26 minutes of playing time, fouling once and turning the ball over precisely 0 times.

We suppose there’s a case for starting Tristan Thompson in some situations, but it just got a whole lot shakier for starting him overall — with no aspersions to the Canadian big man intended.

WATCH: Cedric Maxwell sets his expectations for Robert Williams III post-Daniel Theis

What should Timelord’s role be now that the German big man is gone?

The Boston Celtics frontcourt was perhaps the most affected element of the team after the dust settled from the 2021 NBA trade deadline — but what should we expect from Boston’s most promising big man moving forward?

Celtic champion and CLNS podcast host Cedric Maxwell joins fellow host Josue Pavon discuss the departure of veteran center Daniel Theis to the Chicago Bulls at the deadline and how it offers Robert Williams III an increased role on a recent episode of Maxwell’s eponymous podcast. The two quickly recap how Williams has performed in increased role in the two Celtics wins after the trade deadline.

WATCH: Robert Williams III scores 7 points, 10 boards, 5 assists, 3 blocks vs. Pels

Timelord was one of the few bright spots in a loss to the Pelicans at home on Monday.

Robert Williams III has slowly emerged as one of the Boston Celtics’ more reliable forces, whether coming off of the bench or in a starting role.

He may not put up gaudy stat lines, but he almost always leaves an imprint on the game while chipping in impressive, well-rounded performances that help the team in a variety of ways, and Monday night’s 115 – 109 home loss to the New Orleans Pelicans was no exception. Timelord put up 7 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 blocks in 32 minutes of floor time, a career high for the Texas A&M product.

Having taken on a bigger role after the 2021 NBA trade deadline, Williams has done a solid job for the Celtics as a starter, even shining in the role at times.

WATCH: Timelord gets 5×5 with 7 points, 9 boards, 6 assists, 5 blocks in 1st career start

In his first career start, Robert Williams III hangs an elusive 5 x 5 on the mighty Milwaukee Bucks.

In the NBA, one of the most elusive stat lines that can be had is the 5 x 5, or scoring at least 5 each of 5 primary counting stats. And as if to drive the point home of just how versatile a big man he is, Boston Celtics center Robert Williams III put one up in his first career start, finally shedding the “reserve” title for at least the moment.

Timelord scored 7 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 blocks to secure the 5 x 5 in the Celtics’ 122 – 114 road win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday night in one of his best performances of a season filled with them.

He also threw in a pair of steals for good measure, and shot 3-of-5 from the field in 27 minutes of floor time with 0 turnovers and just 2 personal fouls.

We can expect to see more of Williams starting at the five for at least as long as veteran big man Tristan Thompson remains out — and it’s hard to see Rob going to the bench barring a sudden dip in play or surprising buyout addition.

Watch the video embedded above produced by Tomasz Kordylewski to see all of Timelord’s first career start’s best plays.

WATCH: Timelord scores 12 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks vs. Kings

Robert Williams III was, as per usual, a rare bright spot in a sea of mediocre Celtics play of late.

Stop me if you have heard this one before: Boston Celtics reserve center Robert Williams III was one of the few bright spots in a preventable loss of the Celtics’.

Boston doesn’t seem to have much going right for them at the moment, but at least the Timelord has been consistent now that he’s getting regular opportunities to contribute meaningfully. And while he is still coming off of the bench as he did in last night’s 107 – 96 loss to the Sacramento Kings at TD Garden, he managed to put up a solid stat line of 12 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and as many blocks in 22 minutes of floor time.

We may well see some moves made to open more time up for the rising center’s wings to spread ahead of the 2021 NBA trade deadline.

But until then, we’ll have to make due with video highlights like the one embedded above produced by Tomasz Kordylewski when he isn’t in a game; give it a watch yourself.

WATCH: Robert Williams III scores 13 points, 14 boards, 4 blocks vs. Cavs

The Celtic center was a rare positive in Wednesday’s road loss.

While the majority of Boston Celtics fans would probably like to forget about the debacle that was the Celtics’ 117-110 road loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday, fan favorite big man Robert Williams III inched closer to a starting role with a season-high 27 minutes of game time, one of a few bright spots for Boston in the avoidable loss.

Timelord produced an impressive 13 points, 14 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 4 blocks in the game, hitting 6-of-7 from the floor and 1-of-2 from the line with just 1 turnover and 4 personal fouls. Williams continues to earn head coach Brad Stevens’ trust with games like these, and we can expect to see more of them — hopefully wins — in the near future with some luck.

WATCH: Robert Williams III scores 14 points, 9 boards vs. Jazz (3/16)

Timelord continued to anchor the bench against the Jazz Tuesday while making a case for a shot at starting.

Boston Celtics reserve big man Robert Williams III continued to make a case for shedding the reserve title with his outstanding play against the Utah Jazz in Boston’s 117-109 loss at TD Garden Tuesday night. The former Texas A&M standout leads the bench unit in intensity as much as he did scoring.

Timelord put up 14 points, 9 rebounds and assists and 2 blocks in 22 minutes of game time, helping pick up the slack for teammate Tristan Thompson, the Canadian center who missed the game because of the NBA’s health and safety protocols. Williams commited just 2 turnovers and 1 personal foul over that stretch, and connected on 7-of-10 field goal attempts.

While big man Daniel Theis can legitimately lay claim to the starting role at the 5 for the team for now, the Louisiana native’s growth as a player this season has been nothing short of meteoric.
