Rob Gronkowski claims he was friends with ejected World Series fan

The story of the ejected World Series fan just took another turn

Former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski claimed he was friends with the New York Yankees fan who interfered with Los Angeles Dodgers center fielder Mookie Betts during Game 4 of the MLB World Series on Tuesday night.

The Yankees ended up winning the game by an 11-4 margin, but the Dodgers closed out the series with a victory on Wednesday

Gronkowski appeared on the “Up & Adams Show” and spoke about his connection with the fan. The play itself happened in the bottom of the first inning, and the fan could be seen grabbing Betts’ glove and pulling the ball out.

“That guy right there grabbing Mookie Betts’ glove was my friend in college,” said Gronkowski. “He was on the ice hockey team, the club Arizona Wildcats ice hockey team. Let me tell you, the whole hockey team, they were absolute maniacs.”

The fans involved have been identified as Austin Capobianco and John Peter. Both men were banned from Game 5 of the World Series, and there are still questions on if that punishment will stay intact next season as well.

FOX NFL Sunday shares prank pulled on Rob Gronkowski

Rob Grokowski was pranked by his FOX NFL Sunday fellow panelists

The FOX Sports NFL Sunday crew pulled one over on Rob Gronkowski … a while back.

The setup was the Cowboys were going to activate a tight end Rich Russo, the name of FOX Sports’ lead NFL game director.

Gronk didn’t put two and two together to get four and bought into the discussion.

The segment was taped for a FOX Sports seminar and finally made air on Sunday.

Rob Gronkowski predicts big bounce-back from Saints vs. Falcons

Rob Gronkowski predicts a big bounce back to success from the New Orleans Saints. He’s eager to see what they have in store for the Falcons:

The New Orleans Saints have a big fan in Rob Gronkowski. The longtime New England Patriots tight end is confident the Saints will rebound from their disappointing performance against the Philadelphia Eagles last week. He expects them to come away with a win on Sunday’s game with the Atlanta Falcons. He knows both teams well after briefly playing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to close out his career.

Gronkowski sat down with Kay Adams to share his thoughts on Week 4’s matchups, and he has high expectations for the Saints.

“I think the Saints are gonna put it on them,” Gronkowski mused, “I think the Saints, they had a bad loss last week, their offense was kind of down a little bit but they showed they can turn it up in crunch time on that final draft that they had. I think Derek Carr and Alvin Kamara, they’re going to turn it up. They’re gonna hit that switch again and they’re gonna down there and they’re gonna make some plays. The deep ball is gonna be back in play. I think they’re going to put it on the Falcons.”

He added that this wasn’t meant as a slight to the Falcons — Gronkowski simply believes the Saints are a better team that plays more complimentary football. Between their dynamic offense, shutdown defense, and effective special teams coverage, it’s easy to see why the Saints have won twice as many games as the Falcons this season. Kickoff is just hours away. We’ll find out soon whether Gronkowski made the right pick.

Rob Gronkowski has message for NFL refs after missed call on Falcons

Rob Gronkowski has a message for NFL refs after missed call on Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts…

It’s been a tough couple of years for Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts. The former No. 4 overall pick entered the league with enormous expectations and lived up to them during his rookie season. Pitts has struggled since the team traded away quarterback Matt Ryan in 2022.

Thus far in 2024, the 23-year-old has been slightly better with Kirk Cousins under center. Pitts finished Sunday’s loss to Kansas City with two catches for 59 yards, including an impressive 50-yard reception.

However, the play everyone was talking about after the game was the controversial red-zone incompletion in which a Chiefs defender appeared to interfere with Pitts. This third-down no-call was a turning point in the game and now some are speaking out about a perceived bias towards the Chiefs.

Count former Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski among those who believe the Falcons were the latest example of the league giving preferential treatment to the Chiefs.

“Here’s the problem, the Kansas City Chiefs got the call the week before versus the Cincinnati Bengals for the pass interference call on the fourth-and-16,” Gronkowski told NFL reporter Kay Adams on Wednesday. “Therefore, the Atlanta Falcons should have gotten that call.”

Gronkowski said he would have been okay with the no-call had the Chiefs not benefitted from a similar call in Week 2.

“Call it even,” begged Gronkowski. “The Kansas City Chiefs got the call last week, so the Atlanta Falcons should have gotten the call this week as well. So, yes. It was BS they did not get it.”

The Falcons cannot dwell on the play because they have an even bigger game within the division this Sunday against the 2-1 New Orleans Saints. A 1-3 start would be tough for Atlanta to recover from, so this is essentially a must-win game for the team even though it’s only Week 4.

The Falcons listed running back Bijan Robinson and linebacker Matthew Judon as questionable on Thursday’s injury report. Right tackle Kaleb McGary did not participate for the second day in a row. Make sure to check out the team’s latest injury report and depth chart heading into Sunday’s matchup.

Rob Gronkowski thinks this rookie TE can surpass him as pass-catcher

Will this be the next great tight end?

Former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski admits he’s a fan of Las Vegas Raiders rookie Brock Bowers.

Bowers has taken the NFL by storm right out of the gates. He has recorded 15 catches for 156 yards in his first two games in the league. The former University of Georgia standout is coming off a performance against the Baltimore Ravens where he recorded nine catches for 98 yards.

He averaged 10.9 yards per reception, and a 27-yard grab was his longest of the day.

Bowers was a dynamic playmaker for the Bulldogs, and he is seeing those skills translate to the NFL. Gronkowski appeared on the “Up and Adams Show” and gave props to the rookie, as transcribed by NESN.com’s Jason Ounpraseuth.

“Brock Bowers, I was a big fan of him when he was with Georgia,” said Gronkowski. “The guy’s a winner. The guy’s a playmaker whenever the ball’s thrown to him. I love his explosiveness after the catch. I feel like he’s on track to be better than myself.

“I don’t think he can dominate in the trenches like I dominated in the trenches, but overall, just as a pass-catching threat, I think he can surpass me in many situations. I mean, he already has 15 catches, the most by any rookie of all time in their first two games as a tight end. So shoutout to Brock Bowers. I can’t wait to continue watching him.”

It’s certainly exciting to see the next wave of tight ends make their impact. One has to wonder if Bowers will be able to continue the consistent production and become a household name in short order.

WATCH: Gronk says Raiders rookie TE Brock Bowers ‘on track to be better than (me)’

A bonafide Hall of Fame tight end just said Brock Bowers is ‘on track to be better than (me)’

No question Brock Bowers is off to a hot start to his NFL career. After just two games, he is drawing some high praise.

Teammate Davante Adams appeared on Up And Adams along with former NFL tight end Rob Gronkowski and they had some strong words to describe Brock Bowers’ play to begin his career.

“He’s shows some promise of looking like the guy that’s on the screen with us right now, honestly,” Davante Adams said of Bowers. “This young player is on a different level for a rookie and I think Baltimore got a chance to feel that a little bit.”

That’s big words, especially with whom considering who Davante is drawing comparisons. Gronkowski basically has a bust with his name on it in Canton after an illustrious career including four Super Bowl rings, four All Pro nods, and making the Hall of Fame’s All 2010s team.

His response to Davante’s comparison was even more shocking.

“I agree with that,” Gronkowski replied.

“I feel like he’s on track to be better than myself. I don’t think he can dominate in the trenches the way I dominated in the trenches, but just overall as a pass catching tight end, I think he can surpass me in many situations.”

Bowers set an NFL record for tight ends in their first two NFL games with 15 catches totaling 156 yards. He had six catches in the opener and nine last week in Baltimore.

Gronk definitely has the advantage as a complete package type of tight end. When the Raiders drafted Bowers they did so for his versatility as a pass catcher. They have no intention of leaving him in to block very often.

Their plan of attack with him paid dividends last week with Bowers playing an outsized role in upsetting the Ravens in Baltimore.

Rob Gronkowski offered a surprisingly critical review for Tom Brady’s broadcasting debut with Fox

An honest assessment from Gronk.

Rob Gronkowski and Tom Brady spent 11 seasons together as teammates between both New England and Tampa Bay. So, one might think that Gronkowski would sugarcoat his thoughts on Brady’s first game in the broadcasting booth with Fox.

But that wasn’t exactly the case, and you know what — it makes sense that Gronk can be honest about Brady.

Brady made his broadcasting debut on Sunday alongside Kevin Burkhardt. And though Brady’s debut wasn’t a disaster, it wasn’t great by any means. At times, the seven-time Super Bowl champion sounded nervous and struggled with regular sentence structure and syntax. There were weird pauses, and we didn’t get the substantial analysis that you’d expect from the best quarterback to ever play.

So, when asked for his thoughts on Brady’s first game with Fox, Gronk was fair in his critique.

In an interview with Kay Adams, Gronk described Brady’s debut as “definitely a rookie debut.”

He said:

“He was like a quarterback that was picked No. 1 overall — all the hype in the world. And he came through. He did come through, but he had a lot of jitters — that’s for sure. Not a lot, but he had some jitters. He made some great plays. There were some plays that he missed, I feel like. … So, he’s got a lot to learn.”

And honestly, that’s a reasonable take on Brady’s performance. The knowledge and potential is certainly there to be an elite broadcaster, but Brady has a lot to learn about the craft. He should get better with time and reps, but it’s still a bummer that an exceptional talent like Greg Olsen got demoted for Brady.

Does Rob Gronkowski think the Patriots can be contenders this season?

Patriots legend Rob Gronkowski speaks on coach Jerod Mayo and the future of the Patriots.

One of the Patriots most beloved figures isn’t sold on the team’s outlook for this season.

Rob Gronkowski, whose impact in New England was far greater than his franchise record 79 receiving TDs, recently spoke with USA TODAY Sports’ Mackenzie Salmon about topics including how he thinks his former team will fare this year.

“Do I feel like I think the Patriots are going to do great this year? No, I feel like they are going to struggle a little bit,” said the affable former tight end.

He did offer a bit of optimism though, saying: “But I feel they are in the right direction.”

One of the reasons for a positive outlook – in the long run – is coach and former teammate Jerod Mayo who Gronk calls “a great football coach.”

“He has the knowledge, he loves the game of football,” said Gronkowski. “I feel like Coach Jerod Mayo has done a great job so far. But do I feel like the Patriots are going to do great this year? No.”

Gronk points to the decision of starting QB Jacoby Brissett over Drake Maye as Mayo’s best decision so far.

The main reason, according to Gronk, is Brissett’s experience and “the game of football is slower to him than (to) Drake Maye.”

NFL legend Rob Gronkowski chooses Chiefs TE Travis Kelce over George Kittle

NFL legend Rob Gronkowski chooses Kansas City #Chiefs TE Travis Kelce over George Kittle | @EdEastonJr

The competition for supremacy in the NFL at any position will always exist regardless of the players’ personal relationships. Everyone wants to be known as the best, and the Kansas City Chiefs are among the few teams with several players who can rightfully live up to that claim for their respective position groups.

Retired NFL champion Rob Gronkowski was among the many stars who appeared on Friday, day one of the inaugural Fanatics Fest in New York City. He took time during the day to speak with comedian Funny Marco about his choice for the top tight end in the league. The multiple-time Super Bowl champion put Chiefs star Travis Kelce over him, and current San Francisco 49ers star George Kittle.

“For longevity, yes, he’s (Kelce) still going. I’m on the bench,” Gronkowski said in the short video posted to the NFL’s X account. “I’m going with Kelce because he’s come through in the Super Bowl more than Kittle, so it’s Kelce.”

Gronkowski played for the Tampa Buccaneers in their Super Bowl LV-winning game against the Chiefs, while Kelce defeated Kittle’s 49ers in two separate Super Bowl matchups.

Rob Gronkowski gives his best advice for Tom Brady in broadcasting

Rob Gronkowski has some advice for Tom Brady

Former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski has high hopes for his former teammate, Tom Brady, who is set to begin his NFL broadcasting career.

Brady will officially be making his debut in the booth for the Dallas Cowboys-Cleveland Browns Week 1 matchup on September 8.

Brady and Gronkowski will be teammates again with both now part of the Fox Sports crew. Gronkowski has been part of the studio’s coverage since 2019.

He shared some advice for the legendary quarterback during a recent appearance on “Good Morning Football,” as transcribed by NESN.com’s Gayle Troiani.

“Don’t overthink it and just be yourself,” Gronkowski said. “Go out there and share that gift he was born with. That gift is the knowledge of football that he has, and he has the most knowledge for the game of football than any ex, any former player out there. So, just go out and share that knowledge with the world, and he will absolutely dominate.

“I would never put anything past him, and he has all this time to prepare. When he has time to prepare, he will always be on his A-game. So, Tom Brady’s going to dominate, and I can’t wait for it.”

It will certainly be quite the switch-up from the football field to the booth for Brady. He has already made a promise to ‘cut it loose’ while on broadcasts, so it will be interesting to see what that entails.

His football knowledge alone should make for great television at the very least.
