Chiefs TE Travis Kelce reveals motivation to keep playing in the league: ‘Love going to work’

Kansas City #Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce reveals motivation to keep playing in the league: ‘Love going to work’ | @EdEastonJr

Kansas City Chiefs Pro Bowl tight end Travis Kelce shot down rumors of a possible retirement earlier in the week. During Thursday’s press conference, he revealed his motivation to keep playing next year and potentially beyond.

“Early on in my career, I think a lot of my motivation was driven off of individual success,” said Kelce. “wanting to get that acknowledgment of my peers, of the people watching the game that I was somebody fun to watch or I was worth watching, or I was worth having on your team, nowadays I just love going to work with the guys that I’m in the building with.”

Kelce has the most postseason receptions, with 174 in NFL history, and ranks second all-time in postseason receiving yards with 2,039. Postseason touchdown receptions with 20, trailing only Pro Football Hall of Famer Jerry Rice.

“I love sharing these memories. I love figuring out these game plans, figuring out how we’re going to attack a defense,” said Kelce. “There’s just a certain love that I’ve found in it, and I think it’s because of the people that I go to work with.”

On Sunday, Kelce will become the third tight end to appear in five Super Bowls, joining Marv Fleming and Rob Gronkowski.

Three Bucs players named to NFL’s All-Time Super Bowl team

The playmakers of the Bucs were recognized by CBS Sports when they took up the impossible task of building up an All-Super Bowl team.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have had more success than most in making Super Bowls and winning them. The team has made it to those Super Bowls on the shoulders of playmakers on both sides of the ball.

CBS Sports recognized the playmakers of the Bucs when they took up the impossible task of building up an All-Super Bowl team.

CBS Sports took up the task of making an all-time roster in the leadup to the game this coming Sunday. They laid out what it took to make the list in their piece, stating the following were their criteria for building the team:

  • Super Bowl MVPs weighed heavily
  • Multiple Super Bowl appearances are an advantage
  • Did their performance significantly contribute to the success of their team?
  • Was their performance critical to the outcome of the game(s)?

With those criteria set, three Bucs players made the cut from their two Super Bowl wins in franchise history.

The Bucs had two starters on offense in Tom Brady at quarterback and Rob Gronkowski at tight end. While they spent the majority of their Super Bowl careers in New England, their short run in Tampa Bay proved just as fruitful.

On defense, Pro Football Hall of Famer Derrick Brooks was selected as a backup inside linebacker. The starters were Jack Lambert and Ray Lewis, with whom no one could argue. But Brooks is a backup alongside Bears’ legend Mike Singletary.

Not bad company for three of the most impactful Bucs players in franchise history, especially in their two Super Bowl wins.

Rob Gronkowski’s honest reason for ignoring Bill Belichick’s phone calls

Rob Gronkowski admits he ignored Bill Belichick’s phone calls after Super Bowl LII loss

Former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski opened up about almost retiring, following the team’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles at Super Bowl LII.

Gronkowski admitted that he ignored former coach Bill Belichick’s phone calls, which ultimately ended in him being traded to the Detroit Lions. However, he threatened to retire if the trade went through, and the Lions withdrew their trade offer.

Gronkowski ended up returning to New England, and the team went back to the Super Bowl the next season and defeated the Los Angeles Rams.

“I always wanted to be a New England Patriot, and I did not want to get traded that year, especially with Julian still there and Tom still there at the quarterback position,” Gronkowski said, when appearing on “Zolak & Bertrand.” Everyone was like, ‘Oh, you didn’t want to go to Detroit.’ No, I just didn’t want to leave New England.”

One has to wonder what the trajectory of the Patriots’ organization and Gronkowski’s career would have looked like if he ended up joining the Lions.

Needless to say, Patriots fans are happy he stayed in New England.

Four-time Champion Rob Gronkowski reflects on his mindset during Super Bowl week

Four-time Champion Rob Gronkowski reflects on his mindset during Super Bowl week w/ @EdEastonJr

This week, Touchdown Wire’s Ed Easton Jr. spoke to four-time Super Bowl champion Rob Gronkowski.

In his interview with Easton Jr., Gronkowski discussed his partnership on behalf of Bounty and reflected on his mindset as a player during Super Bowl week, focusing on the game.

“I’ve been the Bounty man for three years now, and obviously, this is going into my third year. It’s been a great partnership with them; it goes hand in hand because I’m a football player. I’m from Buffalo, and I love my wings,” said Gronkowski. “You know the famous quote: You can’t have football without wings. Also, you can’t have wings without Bounty because Bounty cleans up the mess from all the buffalo wings—sauce getting all over your face—and the quicker picker-upper comes and cleans it right on up, man. So it all goes hand in hand together, especially with the style of life I live as well.

Gronkowski is familiar with the glitz and glamour of Super Bowl week, having navigated the festivities many times throughout his career. He opened up about his mindset as a younger player and veteran.

“My first time in the Super Bowl? Yes, you got distracted because of all the festivities going up, people wanting tickets, all the parties, and all that other good stuff as well,” Gronkowski explained. “But once you’ve experienced it, I can give you advice now. Don’t worry about that stuff. The biggest focus is the game. The only thing that matters that whole week is not the parties, you know, it’s not the talk shows or media row.

“It’s all about the game. That’s the most important thing. That’s all anyone’s going to remember if you lost the game or if you won the game. So, focus entirely on the game and what you have to do to be prepared. Get the tickets to your family, and get that all squared off before the week starts. And then focus all your time on the preparation so you’re ready to go when the kickoff gets kicked off.”

Patriots Legend Rob Gronkowski discusses Chiefs TE Travis Kelce’s postseason legacy

New England #Patriots Legend Rob Gronkowski discusses Kansas City #Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce’s postseason legacy w/ @EdEastonJr

This week, Chiefs Wire’s Ed Easton Jr. spoke to four-time Super Bowl champion Rob Gronkowski.

In his interview with Easton Jr., Gronkowski discussed his partnership with Bounty and shared his thoughts on Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce’s growing postseason legacy.

Fans nationwide are expected to devour a record-breaking number of chicken wings during Super Bowl LIX. To help keep things clean, Gronkowski returns for his third year with Bounty, the Quicker Picker Upper.

Since all playoff roads lead to the Big Easy, there’s no better wingman to show him the ropes than fellow Super Bowl champion and former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees.

Gronkowski is currently tied for the record for most postseason starts at tight end but will be overtaken by Travis Kelce, who is expected to make his 23rd career start in Super Bowl LIX. He opened up about Kelce’s career and unparalleled success in the playoffs.

“It’s really impressive. He’s one of the best players in the game right now, and what he’s doing is phenomenal. He’s taking his postseason play to a whole other level,” said Gronkowski. “He’s one of the best postseason players ever to play the game, and it’s just incredible how he steps it up when his number is called at the biggest moments in championship games. And that’s how you win championships. And you make championship plays at championship moments. And that’s what Travis Kelce does. And you can respect it, and you can only appreciate it every single time he makes those plays, and he always comes through for Patrick Mahomes and company, that’s for sure.”

Rob Gronkowski reflects on playing vs. Chiefs in Super Bowl LV

Former Tampa Bay #Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski reflects on Super Bowl LV vs. the Kansas City #Chiefs w/ @EdEastonJr

This week, Chiefs Wire’s Ed Easton Jr. spoke to four-time Super Bowl champion Rob Gronkowski.

In his interview with Easton Jr., Gronkowski discussed his partnership on behalf of Bounty and reflected on his Tampa Buccaneers defeating the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LV.

“As the Bounty man, I’m fired up to be back for a three-peat. Heading to NOLA, there was no doubt that Drew [Brees] had to be my wingman,” said Gronkowski. “We’re ready to chow down on some wings and wipe up every mess with Bounty, baby.”

The last of Gronkowski’s four Super Bowl titles came against the Chiefs during the 2020 season. Then, playing for the Buccanneers, his team was dominant on both sides of the ball in the Super Bowl LV victory at Raymond James Stadium.

“Man, I remember we were so prepared for that game,” Gronkowski explained. “We dotted all our I’s and crossed all our T’s. I could have called the play before the play was even called because we were just that prepared. We studied the set of plays we would go into the game with, and we knew them in the back of our heads like it was nothing. So, that’s what really separated us in that game: just knowing what we [were] going to do and just going out there and executing what we’re going to do, and that’s what we did. And the game plan was nothing short of spectacular.”

Gronkowski caught two of Tom Brady’s three touchdown passes in the Buccaneers’ 31–9 victory over Kansas City.

“Everyone came together and had one goal, and that was to dominate the Chiefs. We sure did, [on the offensive] the side of the ball, [and] the defensive side of the ball. [I don’t really] remember, like, [the] scheme totally. I can’t recall because it was a while ago, but I remember our game plan was superb.”

Patriots legend Rob Gronkowski on new Bounty commercial, legacy with Tom Brady

@EdEastonJr spoke to Rob Gronkowski about his new Bounty commercial with Drew Brees and Reggie Bush, and the legendary chemistry he had with Tom Brady.

This week, Touchdown Wire’s Ed Easton Jr. spoke to four-time Super Bowl champion Rob Gronkowski.

In his interview with Easton Jr., Gronkowski discussed his partnership on behalf of Bounty, filming a commercial with New Orleans Saints Drew Brees and Reggie Bush. He also reflected on his long-time chemistry with legendary quarterback Tom Brady.

“Drew Brees is my wingman as well. I chose him because we’re going to New Orleans for the Super Bowl, and I need him to take me around the city to the best wing spots,” Gronkowski explained. “I also just shot a commercial with him, which was a pleasure. He was so great to work with. He and Reggie Bush, you know, they were teammates down in New Orleans as well, back about 10 years ago.

“They were so fun to work with, and it was so great, you know, and Reggie was such a great player. That was the first time I’ve ever met him. I also loved watching him play football, especially at USC. So he was like one of my heroes that I finally met, which was really cool. Passes with Bounty when we get to New Orleans as well. We’re ready to go. We’re strapped up. We’re gonna take on any challenge.”

As Gronkowski builds chemistry with Brees as his Bounty wingman, he shares the secret to his chemistry and success with legendary quarterback Tom Brady. The duo won multiple Super Bowls across two teams as members of the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“We both wanted it. We both wanted to be great,” Gronkowski said of his time with Brady. “We both wanted to win championships. And when you both want to win championships, you do whatever it takes. And we stayed after practice all the time to get on the same page. Just keep building our chemistry. That’s what we did, man; when you want to be great, and you find people who want to be great around you, you help elevate them. He helped elevate me. I helped elevate him. That led to greatness on the field, and the same was true for the entire Patriots organization: everyone was on the same page.”

Rob Gronkowski gives Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes advice for spiking a football

Rob Gronkowski offers advice on spiking the football to Kansas City #Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes w/ @EdEastonJr

This week, Chiefs Wire’s Ed Easton Jr. spoke to four-time Super Bowl champion Rob Gronkowski.

In his interview with Easton Jr., Gronkowski discussed his partnership on behalf of Bounty and offered some touchdown celebration spiking advice to Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

The Chiefs’ AFC Championship victory over the Buffalo Bills featured several great plays from Mahomes and a comical flub on his celebratory touchdown spike in the endzone. The moment was viral enough to lead the reigning Super Bowl MVP to address it on social media.

Gronkowski, known for his iconic touchdown spikes in the end zone, offered helpful advice on Mahomes’ attempt.

“[Mahomes should] definitely use a Bounty Paper Towel to wipe up that mess he created with that run spike,” Gronkowski suggested. “He needed to have a better grip on the ball because to get some power, you got to wind up. He wound up, but he didn’t have a good grip on the ball, maybe due to his hand being freezing cold, so he couldn’t really grip it how he wanted to grip it because you have to have a better grip on the ball than when you’re throwing it as well to spike it. So warm those hands up and just squeeze that ball harder. Next time, squeeze those balls harder before you spike it.”

Rob Gronkowski pinpoints what makes Patriots QB Drake Maye special

Rob Gronkowski believes Drake Maye will be a special player for years to come

Former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski has never met rookie quarterback Drake Maye, but he’s seen enough football to know there’s something special brewing with the No. 3 overall pick of the 2024 NFL draft.

Despite having one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL and lackluster receiving weapons, Maye still showed plenty of promise under center for the Patriots, finishing the year with 2,276 passing yards, 15 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

The North Carolina product received plenty of praise from various coaches and players throughout the season.

“I think Drake Maye was phenomenal this year,” Gronkowski told RG’s Crissy Froyd. “He exceeded expectations. There’s no doubt about that. Just the way he went in and how he handles himself. Just the energy, the aura that he has around him, he’s going to be a special player for quite some time. The way that he just carries himself as well.

“…He wants to take in the coaching and he wants to grow year in and year out. That’s what is going to make him a special player for several years to come.”

There is certainly a lot to be eager about with the young quarterback. One has to wonder how he will progress in his second season with the Patriots under a new regime led by coach Mike Vrabel.

The Patriots will have the most money to spend in free agency and the No. 4 overall pick of the 2025 NFL draft. Building around the young quarterback will be important for the team in 2025, and they should leave no stone unturned in their efforts to do so.
