Tyler Lockett talks to Richard Sherman about why Seahawks WRs are underrated

Tyler Lockett was the guest on Richard Sherman’s podcast yesterday

Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett was a guest on Richard Sherman’s podcast yesterday.

When Sherman asked Lockett why he and DK Metcalf don’t seem to get as much love as other elite wideouts, Lockett brought up the great Doug Baldwin, who was also criminally underrated in his time.

“Yeah, I really don’t know why, bro. It’s one of those things where ever since I got here, I mean even when you were here, like Doug didn’t get any love, too. You know, and Doug was phenomenal at everything he did, the releases, being able to catch the ball. I don’t know if it’s just kind of a Puget Sound thing out here, that a lot of people don’t get the chance just to be able to watch us, but I mean I’ve kind of come to a place man, where I’ve accepted the fact that the best I might ever be in people’s minds is underrated, and I mean, that’s okay, because it seems like underrated is the most consistent thing they can say…”

Richard Sherman had a try out with FOX Sports as a game analyst

Sherman is also expected to join Amazon’s team of analysts for their new TNF broadcast lineup.

Former Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman’s playing career is winding down. While he’s still open to playing in 2022 in the right situation, Sherman appears to be gearing up for his next career as an NFL analyst. He’s already producing a podcast for Pro Football Focus. The next step will be working as an in-studio analyst or actually calling games.

According to a report by Andrew Marchand at the New York Post – which we will not link here – Sherman recently had a tryout with Fox Sports.

Sherman is also in talks to join Amazon’s analysis team for their new TNF broadcast lineup.

Richard Sherman talks about that one time Trent Williams punched him in the face

Here’s how Sherman described it.

The inevitable 30 for 30 episode on the Legion of Boom Seahawks is going to be awesome. Not only were they the best team in football for several years – they were the most interesting, with a flair for the dramatic that was unrivaled in any sport.

Perhaps the most compelling character of the group was cornerback Richard Sherman, who had legendary feuds with some of the greatest players of his era. In his most recent podcast he shared some of those stories, beginning with the time he got the **** smacked out of him by 49ers left tackle Trent Williams, who was then with Washington. Here’s how Sherman described it.

“During the game there’s a few back and forths between Trent and I and Chris Clemons and a few other guys… Trent apparently took exception… The rest is history, as I say. We had a conversation right after that consequently, a text and phone conversation and cooler minds prevailed and we’ve been friends ever since. But, you know, the clip still lives.”

Hysterical.

While Sherman’s playing career is winding down, Williams is incredibly still going strong after 11 years and 149 games in the league. He earned a remarkable 97.8 overall grade from Pro Football Focus last season.

Seahawks fans respond to Richard Sherman’s recent comments on his podcast

Among other things, Sherman suggested that the 12s need to lower their expectations.

Richard Sherman is indisputably the greatest cornerback in Seahawks history. His tight coverage and superb ball skills helped make Seattle the best defense of the modern era and his contributions were a major reason why the team made it to two consecutive Super Bowls.

Sherman is also a highly controversial figure who’s never afraid to speak his mind, no matter who it might offend. He was in rare form on his most recent podcast when he made some derogatory comments about Seahawks fans while chatting with Cliff Avril. Among other things, Sherman suggested that the 12s need to lower their expectations.

These fans had never won anything before we got here. They had never won anything. They went to the Super Bowl in ’06 and were happy to be there, and that was their biggest claim. And then we get there, we win a Super Bowl, we spoiled them with historic defense and then all of a sudden that’s their expectation. . . You should lower your expectation substantially. … They were talking about getting rid of us and they were like, ‘We got replacements. We got LOB 2.0. And then you got rid of us and then you realize you don’t. You realize we were once in a generation talent and you should have kept it and appreciated it when you had it.”

Naturally, those words rubbed a lot of fans the wrong way. Here’s what they’re saying about Sherman on Twitter.
