A former Nebraska quarterback led his team to victory over the weekend.

A former Nebraska quarterback led his team to victory over the weekend. Logan Smothers and Jacksonville State defeated Eastern Michigan 21-0 on Saturday.

Smothers was 9 of 19 through the air for 93 yards and one touchdown. He also had 18 carries for 118 yards and one touchdown.

The Gamecocks are led by former West Virginia and Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez. This season, the program is ineligible for postseason play due to its transition from FCS to FBS.

Smothers played for Nebraska from 2020 to 2022 and appeared in 11 games. He would throw for 690 yards and two TDs with one INT while adding 161 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
