Former Cardinals LB Reggie Walker signs with CFL’s Edmonton Elks

He appeared in one game for the Cardinals in 2020, spending most the season on the practice squad.

A former Arizona Cardinals player who has not quite made it in the NFL does have a job playing professional football. Reggie Walker, who spent time with the Cardinals in 2020 on the practice squad and even played one game for them that season, has signed with the Edmonton Elks of the Candian Football League, according to 3downnation.com.

Walker signed with the Cardinals as an undrafted rookie out of Kansas State. He started the season on the practice squad and was elevated for one game. He registered a tackle in 17 defensive snaps.

Cardinals re-sign OLB Reggie Walker after Justin Pugh lands on COVID list

With Justin Pugh landing on the COVID list for the second time, Reggie Walker re-signs with the team after being cut Monday.

The Arizona Cardinals released outside linebacker Reggie Walker on Monday upon signing Bryson Young. He back on the team.

With starting left guard Justin Pugh landing on the reserve/COVID-19 list, a roster spot opened up. The team announced Wednesday it re-signed Walker.

They need the depth at outside linebacker, as Chandler Jones is not expected to play in their second preseason game, when they play the Kansas City Chiefs Friday evening.

Jones is out and Markus Golden is expected to be a game-time decision, according to head coach Kliff Kingsbury.

Walker spent last season with the Cardinals. He signed with the team as an undrafted rookie out of Kansas State.

He spent almost all last season on the practice squad but did appear in one game and had one tackle in 17 snaps.

Walker will likely play Friday, giving him the opportunity to impress the Cardinals or another team.

Cardinals swap linebackers at back of the roster

The Cardinals made a pair of moves on Monday to deal with the back of the outside linebacker room.

The Arizona Cardinals announced a pair of roster moves on Monday, swapping one outside linebacker for another.

They released Reggie Walker, who was with the team for the second year after signing as an undrafted rookie last year.

They released him to sign linebacker Bryson Young.

Young entered the league as an undrafted rookie in 2020 with the Atlanta Falcons. He didn’t make the team and did not spend time with any team after getting cut.

He had a workout with the Cardinals on Monday.

He played collegiately at Oregon. He is 6-2 and 242 pounds. There Young played in 49 games and had 73 tackles, six tackles for loss, two sacks, one interception, three pass breakups and one fumble recovery.

This seems more like of a move to evaluate for a practice squad spot. It would seem highly unlikely that at this point they would add a young player with that little experience to viably compete for a spot on the final roster.

Cardinals release TE Evan Baylis, LB Reggie Walker

Baylis played six offensive and nine special teams snaps on Thursday. Walker did not play even though he was active.

The Arizona Cardinals announced a pair of roster moves Saturday to open two spots on the 53-man roster. The signing of veteran defensive lineman Domata Peko will be announced soon and they needed a vacancy.

They released tight end Evan Baylis and linebacker Reggie Walker.

Both had been signed to the roster form the practice squad on Thursday.

Baylis was needed to fill is for tight end Darrell Daniels, who was unable to play with an ankle injury. He played six snaps on offense and nine on special teams.

Walker did not appear in the ballgame.

If they are not claimed off waivers by another team, it is reasonable to believe they will be re-signed to the practice squad next week.

Browns check out prospects at Kansas State pro day

The Cleveland Browns were among the NFL teams in attendance for the Kansas State Wildcat pro day

The Cleveland Browns are among more than a dozen NFL teams confirmed in attendance in Manhattan. Kansas State doesn’t have any high-level prospects in 2020; no Wildcat players were invited to the recent scouting combine. However, the Wildcat program consistently churns out NFL talent and has a few players that could interest the Browns late on Day 3 or as priority free agents following the draft.

Kansas State prospects to know:

  • Offensive tackle Scott Frantz
  • RB James Gilbert
  • Safety Denzel Goolsby
  • EDGE Reggie Walker
