Reggie Bullock named finalist for social justice award

Former UNC basketball standout Reggie Bullock has been named a finalist for a social justice award.

As former UNC wing [autotag]Reggie Bullock[/autotag] gets set for the Western Conference Finals series between the Dallas Mavericks and Golden State Warriors, he’s been honored for his contributions off the court.

Bullock was named a finalist for the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Social Justice Champion Award this past week. Per the NBA’s website, the award recognizes a current NBA player for pursuing social justice and advancing Abdul-Jabbar’s life mission to engage, empower and drive equality for individuals and groups who have been historically marginalized or systemically disadvantaged.

Bullock was joined by Jrue Holiday (Milwaukee), Jaren Jackson Jr. (Memphis), Karl-Anthony Towns (Minnesota), and Fred VanVleet (Toronto) as the five finalists for this year’s award.

For Bullock, he’s been an advocate of LGBTQ equity for many years now and has participated in the NYC Pride March, the GLAAD Media Awards, and NBA events for LGBTQ youth. Bullock is also helping to create truly inclusive communities in neighborhoods. His national efforts haven’t gone unnoticed and he’s become a big voice for LGBTQ.

While a lot people will see his contributions on the court for Dallas in the NBA Playoffs, Bullock’s contributions off the court are just as great. And that’s why we are proud that he is a Tar Heel.

Report: Knicks Reggie Bullock ‘drawing interest’ from Boston Celtics

Would the Knicks wing make sense in green and white?

Could the Boston Celtics have interest in signing New York Knicks wing Reggie Bullock? According to the New York Post’s Marc Berman, that seems to be the case. But, before we go out and buy ourselves some Bullock Celtics jerseys, it’s wise to dive a little deeper into what this means from Boston’s point of view.

The Celtics could use a bigger wing like the Kinston native and the 41% 3-point shooting he provided New York last season, but so could the Knicks, who have cap space to sign him to something larger than the $5.9 million mini mid-level exception Boston could offer him. Plenty of teams are interested in Bullock for what he brings to the table, and perhaps there is a small chance the Celtics have enough championship potential brewing that Bullock might want to get on board while the roster shapes up towards that goal.

Much more likely, the team reached out to his representation in case that might be how the Knicks wing sees things, with a New York return being far more likely given Madison Square Garden’s home team isn’t doing all that bad of late either.

It’s also possible this is coming from an agent, with the intention to get teams to re-sign players on Boston’s or New York’s side of the offer sheet, given the Knicks might have eyes for Evan Fournier.

Knicks gave a player a jersey with two different numbers on it and fans had so many jokes

Reggie Bullock’s jersey had two different numbers. This is absolutely perfect Knicks, and NBA fans had so many jokes.

Listen, it’s early in this NBA season and we’re all clearly getting the rust off. That appears true of the New York Knicks — well, either their equipment manager of jersey supplier (I’m not sure exactly who to pin this on) — who gave Reggie Bullock a jersey for their Saturday night game against the 76ers that had two separate numbers on it.

Bullock’s jersey, which was the Knicks’ special “City That Never Sleeps” alternate, was number 25 on the front and number 23 on the back, which instantly makes this a premium collector’s item, and also makes me curious how Bullock will officially be scored in this game. I think it has to be #25, because Mitchell Robinson is wearing #23 for the Knicks.

Or he wanted #24 and split the difference.

For the Knicks, who got roasted today in a new Pixar movie, it was their whole ethos all summed up neatly in a jersey, and fans had so many jokes about it:
