Auburn offensive line target trending towards ACC rival

Auburn has some ground to make up to land three-star offensive lineman Jameson Riggs.

Auburn and Georgia Tech might not play on the field anymore, but they are not done battling it out on the recruiting trail.

The latest fight is for three-star offensive lineman [autotag]Jameson Riggs[/autotag] and it may be coming to an end soon. He included both programs in his top 10 schools back in May and the two programs have long been seen as the top contenders for him.

Riggs is the No. 643 overall player and No. 44 offensive lineman in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is also the No. 78 player from Georgia.

The Hiram, Georgia native took official visits to both programs in June and at times each one has appeared to be in the lead. However, the Yellow Jackets are currently surging and now look like the favorites to land the 6-foot-5, 300-pounder.

Both Bryce Koon and Rod Mackenzie of 247Sports have logged crystal balls for Riggs to pick Georgia Tech when he commits.

Auburn is still looking to land its first offensive line commit of the 2024 recruiting cycle and while missing out on Riggs would sting, it is far from killer.

Two of Auburn’s top targets, [autotag]DeAndre Carter[/autotag] and [autotag]Reese Baker[/autotag] are both expected to be at Big Cat Weekend and there is a chance one or both could commit to the Tigers during or shortly after the event.

Four-star offensive lineman Preston Taumua commits to Nebraska over Auburn

Auburn will have to look elsewhere for its first offensive line commitment.

Auburn had hoped to land its first offensive line commit on Sunday night but it wasn’t meant to be as four-star target [autotag]Preston Taumua[/autotag] committed to Nebraska.

Taumua picked the Cornhuskers over Auburn, Oregon, Arizona and Alabama. The Aiea, Hawaii native officially visited Auburn in June and he said he “loved” Auburn due to the trio of Ben Aigamaua, Kendall Simmons and Jake Thornton. However, his relationship with Nebraska offensive line coach Donovan Raiola was too much for Auburn to overcome.

Taumua is the No. 235 overall player and No. 15 interior offensive lineman in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is also the No. 1 player from Hawaii.

With him off the board, Auburn will now turn its focus to four-star prospect [autotag]DeAndre Carter[/autotag] and three-star targets [autotag]Reese Baker[/autotag] and [autotag]Jameson Riggs[/autotag] for help along the offensive line.

Four-star OT Fletcher Westphal picks Florida over Auburn

Auburn is still looking for its first commitment along the offensive line.

Auburn’s hunt for its first offensive line commitment in the 2024 recruiting cycle is still going after four-star offensive tackle [autotag]Fletcher Westphal[/autotag] picked the Florida Gators over Auburn, Clemson and others on Monday.

The 6-foot-8, 295-pounder took multiple trips to the Plains and included them in his top five schools but never returned for an official visit. That would prove costly as Auburn fell out of the race to land the elite tackle.

July has been an up-and-down month for Auburn on the recruiting trail, they landed four-star defensive lineman [autotag]Malk Blocton[/autotag] and three-star linebacker [autotag]D’Angelo Barber[/autotag]. However, they missed out on one of their top targets when five-star wide receiver [autotag]Cam Coleman[/autotag] shockingly committed to the Texas A&M Aggies.

Auburn will now have to look elsewhere for help along the offensive line and some top targets include four-star interior offensive lineman [autotag]Preston Taumua[/autotag] and four-star offensive tackle [autotag]DeAndre Carter[/autotag]. Other names to watch our [autotag]Jameson Riggs[/autotag] and [autotag]Reese Baker[/autotag].

Auburn trending for in-state offensive tackle Reese Baker

He visited Auburn on Monday to take part in their Elite Camp.

[autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] has kicked Auburn’s recruiting into high-gear since he arrived on the Plains.

The Tigers signed a top-20 class last year and they have put together one of the best transfer classes in the country that addressed their immediate needs at quarterback and along the offensive line.

While having success in the portal is critical, programs are still built through high school recruiting and the Tigers are off to a strong start in the 2024 cycle, with five commitments including four from four-star prospects.

They may be close to picking up their sixth commitment as they are now the favorite for in-state offensive tackle [autotag]Reese Baker[/autotag] after Auburn Undercover’s Christian Clemente put a crystal ball in for Auburn to land him.

The 6-foot-5 and 275-pounder is currently unranked in the 247Sports Composite but was in attendance for Auburn’s Elite Camp on Monday and Clemente called him “one of the most dominant offensive linemen in the whole camp.”

That trip was the Madison, Alabama product’s third visit to Auburn, more than he has visited any other school.
