Prediction
Yankees 7, Red Sox 5
The Red Sox reportedly are already thinking about how to cash out at the trade deadline. Despite their litany of injuries, the Yankees still have the postseason squarely in their sights.
3B Giovany Urshela has stepped up in the absence of Judge, LeMahieu and Stanton, holding a robust 1.045 OPS at home.
Moneyline (ML)
- Red Sox (+145)
- Yankees (-162)
Though there’s not much profit in here, safe bettors can go with the Yankees (-162). However, I’m looking for a bigger return, so I’ll PASS and pivot to two other wagers below.
Run line/Against the spread (ATS)
- Red Sox +1.5 (-139)
- Yankees -1.5 (+115)
The Bronx Bombers are 16-5 against the run line this year, including 9-1 at home. BET YANKEES -1.5 (+115).
New to sports betting? A winning $10 bet on the Yankees -1.5 (+115) would yield a profit of $11.50.
Over/Under (O/U)
- Over 10 (-110)
- Under 10 (-110)
Perez’s ERA is too low for someone with his limited skill set, and despite completing six innings in his last outing, Montgomery still is allowing too many homers (1.72 per nine).
PASS on the whole numbers, though, and BET OVER 10.5 (+105) on the alternate line. The Yankees are 5-3-2 at home against the Over/Under and, even with some key players injured, have the offensive depth to pepper pitchers.
New to sports betting? A winning $10 bet on the Over would yield a profit of $10.50.
