Mallorca vs. Real Madrid: How to watch, TV channel, live stream

Kylian Mbappe could be set for his full debut

Real Madrid looks to get its La Liga title defense off on the right foot when it visits Mallorca on Sunday.

The Blancos are back in Spain after a midweek visit to Poland, which saw them defeat Atalanta 2-0 in the UEFA Super Cup.

Kylian Mbappé made his much-anticipated Madrid debut in that match and, naturally, he found the net in the second half. The France superstar now looks poised to make his La Liga debut on Sunday at the Son Moix Stadium.

The main question may be whether Mbappé makes his first Madrid start, or comes off the bench like he did against Atalanta. After the forward took an extended summer break, Carlo Ancelotti may want to integrate him slowly as he builds fitness.

Mallorca, which is looking to improve upon a 15th-place finish last season, lost both of its 2023-24 league fixtures against Madrid by a 1-0 scoreline.

Here is everything you need to know ahead of the game.

Watch: Mbappe scores goal on Real Madrid debut

It didn’t take long for the ex-PSG star to make a big impact at Real Madrid

It didn’t take Kylian Mbappé long to make a big impact at Real Madrid.

The French superstar made his Madrid debut on Wednesday in the UEFA Super Cup against Atalanta, and scored his first goal for his new club in the 68th minute.

With Madrid already up 1-0, Vinicius Jr. played a ball across the box that went untouched until Jude Bellingham picked it up in the corner. The England star smartly pulled the ball back toward the penalty spot, where Mbappé ran onto it and guided a shot into the corner.

That would be the final goal of the match, as Madrid kicked off the season with a trophy by defeating the Italian side 2-0.

Mbappé finally made his long-awaited transfer to Madrid this summer, joining the La Liga champion as a free agent after seven seasons at Paris Saint-Germain.

The 25-year-old made his debut in the Super Cup after skipping the club’s preseason tour of the United States.

His league debut will likely come on Sunday as the Blancos kick off their La Liga title defense against Mallorca.

The biggest news of the offseason for Madrid was the club’s signing of French star Kylian Mbappé, who looks set to debut in the Super Cup after skipping the club’s preseason tour of the United States.

Should Madrid defeat Atalanta, it would win the UEFA Super Cup for a record sixth time. The club is currently tied for most titles ever alongside Barcelona and AC Milan.

Atalanta has strengthened in the offseason by signing Charles De Ketelaere on a permanent basis and also adding Italy striker Mateo Retegui from Genoa.

But the club will have to deal without injured pair Giorgio Scalvini and Gianluca Scamacca as well as Teun Koopmeiners, who is looking to force through a move to Juventus.

Barcelona and Real Madrid are bringing El Clásico to the United States, with the fierce rivals playing at MetLife Stadium on Saturday as part of this summer’s Soccer Champions Tour.

Barça will come into the match hoping to build off of a promising showing in new coach Hansi Flick’s first preseason match, a 2-2 draw with Manchester City.

Barcelona, despite playing numerous second-choice players and call-ups from the club’s B team, took the lead twice against Man City before winning the friendly via a penalty-kick shootout.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, fell to a 1-0 defeat against AC Milan in Orlando despite deploying some big names like Luka Modrić and Antonio Rüdiger.

Lamine Yamal and Ferran Torres are not expected to play for Barcelona after their efforts for Spain at Euro 2024, while France defender Jules Koundé only arrived at the team’s base camp in Annapolis, Md. on Thursday.

The friendly will mark the penultimate match for both sides in their respective preseason tours of the United States. Barcelona will wrap up its U.S. trip next week with a friendly against AC Milan in Baltimore, while Real Madrid will face Chelsea in Charlotte, N.C.

Report: Mbappe will skip Real Madrid summer tour of USA

Fans in the U.S. hoping to see the France star are set for a letdown

Real Madrid will be missing its biggest new attraction when it goes on a preseason tour of the United States.

According to The Athletic, Kylian Mbappé will not take part in the team’s three-game tour of the U.S., which begins later this month.

Mbappé was officially presented as a Real Madrid player this week, after finally completing a long-rumored switch from French power PSG.

The 25-year-old was asked at his presentation if he would take part in the U.S. tour and replied: “If the club wants me to go, I will go.”

The Champions League and La Liga winners are set for three friendlies in the U.S. as they ramp up preparations for the 2024-25 campaign.

Madrid will face AC Milan in Chicago on July 31, Barcelona in New Jersey on August 3, and will complete its tour with a game against Chelsea in Charlotte on August 6.

Rather than partake in any of those games, Mbappé will reportedly get an extended break and join up with his new teammates on August 7 upon their return to Madrid.

The France star’s Madrid debut would then likely come on August 14 in the European Super Cup against Atalanta in Warsaw, Poland.

Mbappe Real Madrid jersey: Where to buy France star’s new kit

The France superstar’s kit is going to be one of the hottest items of the summer

It is finally official: Real Madrid has confirmed the signing of Kylian Mbappé.

The France superstar joins as a free agent after spending seven seasons at PSG, ending one of the longest-running transfer sagas in recent memory.

Mbappé will join a team already filled with stars, which just completed a season that ended in glory both in La Liga and the Champions League.

SHOP: Pre-order Kylian Mbappé Real Madrid jersey

Naturally, the 25-year-old’s kit is going to be one of the most in-demand items of the summer. After Madrid revealed its jersey for the 2024-25 season, Mbappé’s kit in the Blancos‘ iconic white is now available for pre-order.

The new jersey sells for $184.99 and can be found at Fanatics.

What number will Mbappe wear at Madrid?

The kit currently features #00 as a placeholder, but the forward will not actually wear that number when he steps onto the pitch at the Bernabéu.

Mbappé’s number is set to be confirmed in the coming weeks, so the kit will feature his actual number when it ships.

Mbappé wore the No. 7 for PSG, but that number is occupied by Vinícius Jr. at Madrid. He wears the No. 10 for France, but Luka Modrić wears that number in Madrid.

There is speculation he could wear the No. 9 in Madrid, which was unoccupied last season after Karim Benzema wore that number for several years.

Reyna deletes comment on Bellingham Instagram post after backlash

Some Dortmund fans didn’t take kindly to Reyna’s comment on his friend’s post

Gio Reyna has deleted a comment on Jude Bellingham’s Instagram in the wake of Real Madrid’s 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund in Saturday’s Champions League final.

Madrid star Bellingham posted a series of celebratory images after winning his first European title, with the caption: “CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE!!! Siempre HALA MADRID!”

In the comments section, Reyna responded with three white heart emojis.

On one hand, the U.S. national team star’s response made perfect sense: Reyna and Bellingham are close from their time playing together with Dortmund, as the England midfielder even said last month that Reyna is his best friend outside of Real Madrid.

On the other hand, some Dortmund fans were perturbed by Reyna — at least in some way — appearing to celebrate Madrid’s victory in the final over his own team.

Reyna spent the first half of the 2023-24 season with Dortmund, making two appearances in the club’s Champions League campaign before a midseason loan switch to Nottingham Forest.

After a disappointing loan in England, Reyna will return to Dortmund ahead of the 2024-25 campaign with his future very much in the air.

Perhaps in response to the backlash, or with the hope of avoiding a greater one, Reyna eventually deleted the comment.

Soccer fans had so many jokes about Kylian Mbappe joining Real Madrid after it won the Champions League

Kylian Mbappe joining Real Madrid now is like Kevin Durant signing with the Warriors.

According to Fabrizio Romano, French superstar Kylian Mbappe officially finalized his transfer documents to soon join Real Madrid on Sunday. The club will apparently announce his addition formally sometime later this upcoming week.

Honestly? The timing couldn’t have been more hilarious.

That’s because, on Saturday, Real Madrid won the Champions League. You know, one of the biggest championships in all of soccer. Period. It is the club’s second Champions League title in three years, and it’s the 15th time it’s won overall — by far the most of any other club.

It stands to reason that Real Madrid doesn’t actually need Mbappe to keep winning at the highest level. But the rich are getting richer anyway. Why?

Because they can:

Nothing about this transfer is inherently illegal. Real Madrid hasn’t circumvented anything. It’s simply a matter of an all-time star near the peak of his powers joining the best club in the world — which has happened before in men’s soccer and in other sports and leagues. (Hello, Kevin Durant on the Golden State Warriors!)

We can argue the merits of that point, but it’s an entirely different conversation.

Ultimately, it’s so amusing that someone as great as Mbappe is joining Real Madrid right after they ascended the mountaintop. You couldn’t write a funnier script about the obvious power imbalance in this sport.

Soccer fans made so many jokes about Kylian Mbappe joining Real Madrid.

Real Madrid vs. Borussia Dortmund: How to watch UEFA Champions League final, TV channel, live stream

The biggest match in club soccer will see Real Madrid heavy favorites to win a 15th Champions League title

The biggest prize in club soccer is here, with Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund battling in the UEFA Champions League final on Saturday.

The contrast between the clubs couldn’t be more stark. Real Madrid has lifted the Champions League trophy 14 times over the years, including five times since 2014. Carlo Ancelotti’s side won this year’s La Liga crown, and is often discussed as the masters of knockout play.

Dortmund, meanwhile, finished fifth in the 2023-24 Bundesliga, and has reached just two Champions League finals in its history. Die Schwarzgelben have won Europe’s biggest club competition just once, all the way back in 1997.

[afflinkbutton text=”Watch Real Madrid vs. Dortmund on Paramount+” link=”https://paramountplus.qflm.net/217Nxg”]

For los Merengues, goalkeeper Andriy Lunin is the biggest doubt, having contracted an illness earlier in the week, with Thibaut Courtois likely to start as a result. Aurélien Tchouameni (foot) and David Alaba (knee) are also unavailable due to injury.

Dortmund, meanwhile, faces a question over forward Sébastien Haller, who has only recently returned to training after an ankle injury made him unavailable for several late-season Bundesliga matches.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the match.
