Raptors at Rockets picks and predictions

Prediction

Raptors 115, Rockets 100

Moneyline

PASS.

The Raptors (-300) should win, but there is no need to risk triple your potential profit on the moneyline when the Raptors should win by margin. Bet the spread or total instead.

Against the spread

BET RAPTORS -7.5 (-110).

The Rockets kept it close and lost by just 7 points vs. Toronto in the 1st meeting, but that was with their 2 leading scorers in the lineup. G Jalen Green and G Kevin Porter Jr. combine for 40.9 points on average for Houston and will not be available Friday vs. Toronto.

The Raptors are coming off back-to-back blown 4th-quarter leads and should be extra motivated to build a large lead and maintain it Friday vs. this hobbled Rockets team. Lay the points with the healthier side.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 225.5 (-115).

The Under is 8-1 in Toronto’s last 9 games after allowing more than 125 points in its previous contest and 5-1 in the Raptors’ last 6 on the road vs. teams with a home winning percentage under .400. The Under is 4-0 in Houston’s last 4 games and the Rockets should struggle to put up points without its 2 leading scorers vs. a focused Toronto defense.

Toronto Raptors at Houston Rockets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Toronto Raptors at Houston Rockets odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Toronto Raptors (30-23) stop by Toyota Center Thursday to take on the Houston Rockets (15-39). Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Raptors vs. Rockets odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

Coming off a 19-point victory, 117-98 Wednesday at Oklahoma City, the Raptors have now covered 7 straight games and 8 of their last 10. They covered as 10.5-point favorites on the road against the Thunder.

The Raptors are one of just a handful of teams that rank top 13 in both offensive and defensive rating. Led by PF Pascal Siakam (21.6 points, 8.9 rebounds per game), the Raptors are 32-21 ATS on the season.

As for the Rockets, they’re trending in the opposite direction, having covered just once in their last 7 games. Houston is led by C Christian Wood, who averages 17.7 points and 10.3 rebounds per game.

The Rockets are 22-31-1 ATS, the fourth-worst covering team in the NBA. They last played Tuesday, a 110-97 loss as 8.5-point road dogs at New Orleans.

Raptors at Rockets odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Raptors 121, Rockets 110

Money line

PASS. I’d shy away from laying -380 on the Raptors on the road.

Against the spread

BET RAPTORS -7.5 (-115).

While this spread has the rest disadvantage for the Rockets baked into it, the Raptors have been playing too well lately to bet any other way.

Toronto has covered 7 straight, including 4 on the road. The Raptors are the league’s best-covering team with no rest, posting an 8-2 ATS record.

The big difference should be in extra-chance opportunities. The Raptors rank second in offensive-rebounding rate whereas the Rockets sit 20th in defensive rebounding.

Also, the Rockets have the league’s worst turnover rate given their young backcourt of SG Kevin Porter Jr. and SG Jalen Green. With a key scorer in Gordon potentially sitting, the experience may not be there either.

Combine it all, and the Raptors’ spread is the better option here.

Over/Under

LEAN to the OVER 224.5 (-108).

The Rockets play at the fastest pace in the NBA. With the Rockets having a high turnover rate, the Raptors have the experience to keep the pace high as well and score at will.

Both teams have been better this season hitting the Over as well.

The Rockets are 30-23-1 O/U and the Raptors are 30-23 O/U. In their last 10 games, the Raptors are 7-3 O/U, while the Rockets are 4-5-1 O/U.

Toronto Raptors at Houston Rockets odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Monday’s Toronto Raptors at Houston Rockets NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Toronto Raptors (17-25) carry a heavy eight-game losing skid into Monday’s road battle at Toyota Center with a Houston Rockets (11-30) team toting a 20-game slide. Tip-off will be at 9 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Raptors-Rockets odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

The Raptors’ skid was extended with a 116-105 road loss against the Cleveland Cavaliers Sunday night. It was Toronto’s fourth loss by double figures during the slump.

The Rockets also played Sunday, taking a 114-112 loss against the Oklahoma City Thunder on home court in the afternoon. Houston’s skid extends back to a 115-103 win over the Memphis Grizzlies Feb. 4. Sixteen of the 20 straight losses were by 10 or more points.

Toronto’s last win was a 122-111 thrashing of Houston on home court Feb. 26. The head-to-head season series ends with Monday’s rematch.

Raptors at Rockets: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Raptors 112, Rockets 101

Money line (ML)

The Raptors will be the team to find the win column, but no team that has lost eight straight games is worth a -390 tag, regardless of the opponent. The money line will be a PASS in favor of better value on the spread.

Toronto lost by 11 points to a 15-26 Cleveland team Sunday and needs to travel for the second half of the back-to-back, while the Rockets remain in Houston and had a little extra rest following Sunday’s matinee.

Four starters each scored at least 17 points for Toronto Sunday, led by SG Fred VanVleet‘s 23, but PF Pascal Siakam went just 4-for-12 from the field and the bench accounted for only 20 total points.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

Houston has the home advantage and a very slight rest advantage, but Toronto is the healthier side. With Gordon already on the shelf, PG John Wall, SG Victor Oladipo and C Christian Wood are all likely to have their minutes dialed back Monday after each played at least 35 minutes in Sunday’s loss.

Wood, who didn’t play in the first Raptors-Rockets meeting, represents the game’s biggest mismatch for Houston as he goes up against the struggling Siakam. Toronto’s guards will look to turn this into a 3-point contest and has a sizable advantage. Houston is 30th in 3-point percentage while Toronto is 10th.

The Rockets haven’t covered the spread in a home game since beating the Washington Wizards 107-88 as 3-point favorites Jan. 26.

Back the RAPTORS -8.5 (-110) to win by at least 9 points.

Over/Under (O/U)

Bet the UNDER 223.5 (-110), even though the season’s first meeting sailed past a 219-point projection. The Raptors are 2-3 against the O/U in their last five games while the Rockets are 3-3 against the number over their last six outings.

Toronto is 4-7 against the number with a minus-9.3 scoring margin when playing on no rest. Houston is a league-worst 3-7 in that situation with a minus-5.8 differential against the line.
