Against the spread

BET RAPTORS +5.5 (-115).

Toronto is 3-1 ATS in its last 4 games and has won 2 of its last 3 contests when playing as an underdog. Detroit has lost 3 straight games while also failing to cover in each, all as the favorite. It is 4-5-1 ATS in its last 10 games and 0-2 ATS in its last 2 at home as the favorite.

Toronto Raptors at Detroit Pistons odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Toronto Raptors at Detroit Pistons NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Toronto Raptors (17-22) finish a three-game road trip with a stop in Motor City to face the Detroit Pistons (10-29) Wednesday. Tip-off will be at 7 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Raptors-Pistons odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

This is a rematch of a game which started a five-game losing skid for the Raptors. They lost 129-105 to the Pistons March 3 and are coming off a 118-95 loss to the Chicago Bulls Sunday. Several key starters being sidelined by COVID-19 protocols deserves a large share of the blame as Toronto has slipped to 11th in the Eastern Conference.

The Pistons have dropped four straight games since beating the Raps. Their most recent setback was a 109-99 loss to the San Antonio Spurs on home court Monday. They’ve been held below 100 points in each of their last two games.

Raptors at Pistons: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Pistons 112, Raptors 110

Money line (ML)

The PISTONS (+120) remain underdogs despite embarrassing the Raptors on their 2020-21 home floor of Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla., prior to the All-Star break. Toronto showed more spirited efforts against the Boston Celtics and Atlanta Hawks on either end of the break, but was trounced by both the Charlotte Hornets and Chicago Bulls over the weekend.

The Pistons, while also severely undermanned, put up good fights in a 3-point loss to the Hornets and a 5-point loss against the Brooklyn Nets.

Back the Pistons for a repeat upset performance with help not guaranteed to be on the way for the Raptors.

Against the spread (ATS)

The money line pick offers a higher return at plus-money, but the 10-29 PISTONS +2.5 (-105) also need to be backed with 2 points of insurance in the event of a loss.

Toronto is fourth in 3-point attempts per game (40.5) and ninth in percentage (.380) for the season but has upped its attempts to 44.5 per game while the success rate has dropped to .365 over the losing skid.

Those numbers line up well for a Detroit squad holding opponents to just 31.6 3-point attempts per game but ranking 16th in success rate allowed.

Over/Under (O/U)

The head-to-head meeting two weeks ago topped a 211-point line by 23 points. Detroit has since gone 1-3 against the O/U while Toronto is 2-2 against the number in its last four games.

Lightly bet the OVER 220.5 (-110) on a line splitting the difference between the last projection and end result.
