New York Rangers at Philadelphia Flyers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s New York Rangers at Philadelphia Flyers odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The New York Rangers (47-21-6) remain out east to face the Philadelphia Flyers (23-39-11) Wednesday at Wells Fargo Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we look at the Rangers vs. Flyers odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Rangers had a three-game win streak snapped with a 4-2 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes Tuesday. LW Chris Kreider has 4 goals and 2 assists in his last four games to lead the offense.

The Flyers never got off the runway Tuesday in a 9-2 loss at the Washington Capitals. Philly has three wins in its last 10 games, but one of them came in a shootout against these Rangers.

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 9:22 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Rangers -200 (bet $200 to win $100) | Flyers +160 (bet $100 to win $160)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Rangers -1.5 (+130) | Flyers +1.5 (-165)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 6.5 (O: +105 | U: -130)

Rangers at Flyers projected goalies

Alexandar Georgiev (12-9-2, 3.03 GAA, .894 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Martin Jones (10-15-3, 3.49 GAA, .899 SV%)

Georgiev was great against the New Jersey Devils April 5, stopping 20 of 21 shots in a 3-1 victory in his lone April start. He was 4-1-0 with a 3.30 GAA and .877 SV% in March and was fantastic against the Flyers last year with a 3-0 record, a 0.97 GAA and a .960 SV%.

Jones is still likely to draw the start today after he was pounded for 6 goals on 27 shots Tuesday because G Carter Hart is questionable with a lower-body injury. Jones has allowed 11 goals in his last two appearances and has allowed least 4 goals in four of his last six games. He stopped 43 of 46 shots in a 4-3 shootout win against the Rangers 10 days ago.

Rangers at Flyers odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Rangers 5, Flyers 2

Money line

The Rangers haven’t been dependable enough to wager twice your potential return. PASS.

Against the spread

The Rangers are 21-17 against the puck line on the road this season, and they have a clear advantage in net. New York is also likely steaming from the shootout loss to these Flyers April 3. The Rangers’ last three wins have been by 2 or more goals, and this one shouldn’t be close.

Take the RANGERS -1.5 (+130).

Over/Under

The Rangers have struck for 5 goals in four of their last 10 games. With Philly’s backup goalie likely being thrown into the fire after last night’s thumping, they could do it again.

The Over is 4-0 for the Flyers in their last four outings after losing by 3 or more goals the previous game. The Rangers smell blood as the Over is 3-0-1 in the last four when their opponent scores 2 goals or fewer in their last outing.

LEAN OVER 6.5 (+105).

New York Rangers at Philadelphia Flyers odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s New York Rangers at Philadelphia Flyers NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The New York Rangers (15-13-4) finish up a two-game set against the Philadelphia Flyers (16-8-5) on Saturday with a 1 p.m. ET puck drop at Wells Fargo Center. Below, we analyze the Rangers-Flyers odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

Rangers at Flyers: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Saturday at 3:59 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Rangers -135 (bet $135 to win $100) | Flyers +115 (bet $100 to win $115)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Rangers -1.5 (+190) | Flyers +1.5 (-250)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Rangers at Flyers: Projected starting goalies

Igor Shesterkin (7-7-1, 2.36 GAA, .922 SV%) vs. Brian Elliott (7-4-1, 2.97 GAA, .887 SV%, 2 SO)

Shesterkin returned Thursday in the front end of the back-to-back after dealing with a three-week absence due to a groin injury. He made 41 saves on 44 shots in the 8-3 blowout win, and he didn’t show any ill effects of the ailment. He’ll be right back in there looking for a fourth straight victory overall.

Elliott was called upon early in the second period against the Rangers after Carter Hart was roughed up for five goals on 11 shots, looking more like a beer league goalie than a professional.

Elliott will be tasked with trying to cool off a Rangers offense that has scored three or more goals in all five meetings with the Flyers this season while averaging 8.5 goals per game across the past two meetings.

Rangers at Flyers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Flyers 5, Rangers 4

Money line (ML)

The FLYERS (+115) have had tremendous difficulty against the Rangers (-135) this season, but they are on home ice and will be looking to avenge an ugly loss on Thursday. I think Philly shows off some pride, especially with Elliott in the crease, as they turn the tables on the Blueshirts.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The Flyers +1.5 (-250) are just too expensive on the puck line. Just roll with the home side straight up rather than fiddling with the puck line. PASS.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 6 (-115) is the play here. The Rangers have taken care of the Over themselves in the previous two meetings, totaling 17 goals against the Fly Guys.

The Over has cashed in each of the past four meetings, too, and we have had a whopping total of 11.5 combined goals per game in that four-game stretch.

Yes, Over. Bet it, and go hard. In fact, playing the alternate line of OVER 6.5 (+110) at plus-money is a good wager, and OVER 7.5 (+260) is even worth a small-unit play.

New York Rangers at Philadelphia Flyers odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Thursday’s New York Rangers at Philadelphia Flyers NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The New York Rangers (4-7-3) will finally hook up with the Philadelphia Flyers (8-3-2) Thursday for a 7 p.m. ET puck drop at Wells Fargo Center after Sunday’s scheduled game in the Big Apple was postponed due to COVID-19 issues throughout the Flyers roster. Below, we analyze the Rangers-Flyers NHL odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The Flyers have had four games delayed due to COVID concerns and haven’t played since a 7-4 win over the Washington Capitals Feb. 7. Six players remain on the COVID list, including C Claude Giroux and RW Jakub Voracek.

The Rangers took a 5-2 loss against the New Jersey Devils Tuesday and have lost four straight games while having two scheduled contests postponed until unspecified dates later in the season.

Rangers at Flyers: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 11:11 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Rangers -105 (bet $105 to win $100) | Flyers -110 (bet $110 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Rangers +1.5 (-275) | Flyers -1.5 (+230)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: +100 | U: -120)

Rangers at Flyers: Projected starting goalies

Igor Shesterkin (3-5-1, .918 SV%, 2.36 GAA) vs. Carter Hart (5-2-2, .897 SV%, 3.49 GAA)

Shesterkin’s numbers to begin his second year in the league are much better than his record, but he has been undone by a .853 save percentage with the Rangers shorthanded. He has allowed more than 2 goals in just one of his last six starts and is in desperate need of some goal support.

Hart has been a disappointment thus far in the season and is 5-2-2 only because of an abundance of goal support. He allowed 4 goals in each of his last two starts and managed to go 1-0-1. He has given up 11 power-play goals on just 40 shots with the Flyers shorthanded.

Rangers at Flyers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Rangers 3, Flyers 2

Money line (ML)

Give the advantage to Shesterkin in the goalie duel and back the RANGERS (-105) as slight underdogs on the road against the shorthanded Flyers.

The Flyers are third in the league in goals scored per game (3.54), but they’re 22nd in goals allowed (3.08). The Rangers also feature the league’s ninth-best penalty kill at an 82.98% success rate despite taking the ninth-most penalty minutes per game.

Philadelphia is last in 5-on-5 Corsi For percentage at 44.55% and while New York is also sub-50%, the Rangers have small edges in both scoring chances for and expected goals for at full strength.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

PASS on the spread. The 1.5 line is far too expensive to back the Rangers for just one goal of insurance. Take them to win outright in a game nearly priced as a pick ’em.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 6 (-120) is a strong play. Shesterkin should be up to the task of slowing down the Flyers offense and the Rangers struggling offense should allow Hart to turn in one of his better performances of late.

The Flyers are 9-4 against the O/U but the Rangers are 4-10. The Philly offense remains shorthanded and the Flyers are likely to be somewhat disjointed due to their erratic schedule of late.
