After dropping his UFC debut to Brandon Davis in April 2019, Costa rebounded with a first-round knockout over Boston Salmon at UFC on ESPN 6 this past October. He was scheduled to face Martin Day at UFC on ESPN 8 in March, but the event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Newson picked up a 38-second knockout over Domingo Pilarte at UFC 247, which was later ruled as a no contest by The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation when he tested positive for marijuana. The fight was Newson’s second with the UFC after dropping a short-notice, unanimous decision to Ricardo Ramos in June 2019.

With the addition, the Sept. 26 lineup includes:

  • Claudia Gadelha vs. Yan Xiaonan
  • Sarah Alpar vs. Jessica-Rose Clark
  • Randy Costa vs. Journey Newson
