The Los Angeles Rams were scheduled for a three-day mandatory minicamp, but Sean McVay gave his players the third day off and let them break for summer a bit early. He was pleased with the work the Rams got in and is looking forward to returning to UC Irvine for training camp next month.

Minicamp was the Rams’ chance to get the entire team together, with the exception of Aaron Donald and Alaric Jackson – who were both excused for family reasons.

The Los Angeles Rams were scheduled to have three days of mandatory minicamp this week but after two good practices, Sean McVay decided to let his players break early before training camp next month. The Rams have a lot of rookies who are getting acclimated to the NFL, as well as a handful of veterans returning from injuries or down years in 2022.

It’s still early in the offseason and the competition will really heat up during training camp, but minicamp provides us a first real look at the team in practice before the pads come on next month.

Here’s what we learned from the two days of minicamp, including some quotes from McVay and his take on things.

The Rams held their mandatory minicamp this week before their break for summer. Check out some of the best photos from practice.

Coming off their Super Bowl LVI win, the Los Angeles Rams had a shorter break between the end of the season and the start of spring workouts. So Sean McVay took a little bit of a lighter approach to the offseason program.

The Rams held their mandatory minicamp this week but rather than practicing three straight days, they hit the field on Tuesday and Wednesday before lifting and working out in the weight room for the final day on Thursday.

It was a productive week for the team, getting the likes of Aaron Donald, Jalen Ramsey and A’Shawn Robinson together on defense after they weren’t in attendance for most of the previous OTA sessions. Allen Robinson and Bobby Wagner were also out there with their new teammates, continuing to get comfortable with the Rams.

Rams among teams to begin rookie minicamp Friday

Rams rookies are in Los Angeles as the team gets minicamp underway.

Slowly but surely, we’re getting closer to the return of football. On Friday, the Los Angeles Rams will begin rookie minicamp, along with 28 other teams across the league.

Typically, the Rams use rookie minicamp as a tryout session for players who are looking to make a team, but it’s unclear what structure and format they’ll use this year. Rookies have been arriving in Los Angeles this week, according to their posts on Instagram, but it remains to be seen if they’ll get on the field.

Rookie minicamp is scheduled to run from May 14-16, with OTAs getting underway the following week on May 24.

The Rams will likely put their rookies through some classroom work as they prepare them for life in the NFL. It serves as an on-boarding program and orientation as they get in the building and sign their first contracts, as well.

Hopefully Tutu Atwell, Ernest Jones and the Rams’ other rookies will get on the practice field to run some routes and get acclimated in Thousand Oaks at the Rams’ facility.
