Raiders’ Maxx Crosby wins AFC Special Teams Player of the Week

Maxx Crosby finished the 2020 regular season on a high note and now has the hardware to prove it.
The Raiders defensive end was named the AFC’s Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts in Week 17 vs. the Broncos.
In the close 32-31 win for the silver and black, Crosby had two blocked field goals.
While his effort on special teams stood out the most in Las Vegas’ season finale, he brought it on defense, too.
The second-year pro had seven QB pressures, according to Pro Football Focus, to go along with two tackles for a loss and two quarterback hits against Denver

Raiders RB Josh Jacobs booked on suspicion of DUI after car accident

No sooner did the Raiders’ offseason begin, they get some bad news.
In the early morning hours Monday, their Pro Bowl running back Josh Jacobs was involved in a traffic accident where he was then booked on suspicion of DUI.
The team put out the standard statement, saying they are aware of the incident with no further comment. Jon Gruden went a bit further in his final media video conference Monday.
“We’re just aware of it,” Gruden said. “We’ll say that Josh is ok and I’m not at liberty to comment on it until I get more facts. But we do have word that Josh is ok and we are looking into the matter.”.
Jacobs’s lawyers dispute that their client was impaired, noting that there have been no charges filed and they will be pleading Not Guilty should he be charged

Raiders fire defensive coordinator Paul Guenther, promote Rod Marinelli

It finally happened. After an embarrassing performance in Week 14 against the Colts, the Raiders have fired defensive coordinator Paul Guenther.
This isn’t all that surprising given that the Raiders are allowing over 30 points per game this season and have now allowed 31 or more points in four-straight games.
According to the team’s Twitter account, they will promote defensive line coach Rod Marinelli to the defensive coordinator role for the remainder of the season.
Marinelli is one of the more respected defensive minds in the NFL and has a ton of experience calling plays. Don’t be surprised if he ends up being the long-term option given his knowledge and relationship with Gruden

Raiders place LB Cory Littleton on Reserve/COVID-19 list

The Raiders have put yet another player on the reserve/COVID-19 list. This time, it’s starting linebacker Cory Littleton.
It’s unclear as to if Littleton tested positive for the virus or he was in close contact with someone else, but he is now forced to quarantine for at least five days.
That means Littleton will miss the team’s Week 10 matchup with the Broncos. It’s also worth mentioning that Littleton did practice with the team on Wednesday and wasn’t listed on the injury report.
With Littleton likely out for Week 10, look for veteran Raekwon McMillan to possibly take his spot in the starting lineup.
We could also see an uptick in snaps for Nicholas Morrow, who has been the team’s starting strongside linebacker.
Littleton has started all eight games for the Raiders this season, totaling 48 tackles and three tackles for a loss

Raiders vs. Buccaneers game moved to 4:05 p.m. ET due to COVID-19 concerns

Sunday night’s game between the Buccaneers and Raiders has been moved up to the afternoon, the NFL announced Thursday.
The decision was made in an effort to ensure that if the Bucs/Raiders game needed to be postponed due to COVID-19 concerns, that there would still be a game available for fans to watch Sunday night.
The Raiders sent their entire starting offensive line home earlier this week after placing offensive tackle Trent Brown on the Reserve/COVID-19 list, and they have yet to practice all week.
Sunday night’s game was to be the first of three straight prime-time contests for Tampa Bay, but will now move from the standalone national slot on NBC to a 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff on Fox.
The Seahawks-Cardinals matchup, originally scheduled for 4:05 p.m. ET, will become the Sunday Night Football contest on NBC with kickoff scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET

Raiders send five starting offensive linemen home Wednesday due to Trent Brown COVID-19 co

Just when you thought the Raiders were in a great position coming out of the bye week, a huge wrench gets thrown into the gears.
Starting right tackle Trent Brown has been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list after just one game back with the team.
Not only does it look like the team will be without Brown for Sunday’s game, but Wednesday the team sent all five of their starting linemen home due to contact with Brown.
We don’t have Trent today, we don’t have any of our linemen, so I’m not happy about it. I’m concerned. I’m more concerned about Trent’s health than anything. This is COVID and I’m concerned about anybody that has it or is near it, Raiders head coach Jon Gruden.
We don’t know yet how many days the starting line will be out, if any of them will test positive for COVID-19, and if they too could miss Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers
