Raiders at Falcons: Game notes

  • The Falcons lost 24-9 on the road against QB Taysom Hill and the New Orleans Saints last week. Falcons QB Matt Ryan was sacked eight times for 36 yards and threw two interceptions.
  • The Raiders suffered heartbreak on a game-winning touchdown pass by Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes with 0:28 to go in a 35-31 loss at Allegiant Stadium in Sin City. The Raiders were under a minute away from sweeping their season series against the defending Super Bowl champions.
  • Atlanta had won three of four games under interim head coach Raheem Morris prior to the loss to New Orleans. Its nine points last week were a season-low.
  • Las Vegas had won three straight games prior to Week 11. It has scored more than 30 points in three consecutive games coming into Week 12.
  • Both teams have a plus-1 turnover differential on the year with 11 takeaways and 10 giveaways.
  • Ryan should stay a little more upright this week with the Raiders having just 11 sacks through 10 games to rank 31st in the NFL.

Raiders at Falcons: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Raiders 30, Falcons 27

Money line (?)

The RAIDERS (-167) will look to move on quickly from Week 11’s disappointing loss to the rival Chiefs. Head coach Jon Gruden will get his team back on track as they look to stay in the thick of the AFC Wild Card hunt.

The Falcons had a bye in Week 10 and came out of it with one of their most disappointing performances of the season with Hill making his first career start under center. They have little left to play for this season after taking their seventh loss.

Against the spread (?)

I like this game to be played within 3 points so wait this one out for movement toward either 2.5 or 3.5 and take whichever team calls for that result. As it stands, I’d lean to FALCONS +3 (-110) as a hedge against the Raiders pick on the ML.

Over/Under (?)

The Raiders played to a total north of 60 points against the Chiefs for the second time this season last week. The Falcons offense, especially Ryan, should come out angry at home after being held out of the end zone in New Orleans. Take the OVER 53.5 (-115) as the strongest play on this game.
