Clay Collard tests positive for COVID-19, off Lomachenko-Lopez card

Clay Collard was removed from Saturday’s Vasiliy Lomachenko-Teofimo Lopez card after testing positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday

Fans looking forward to seeing Clay Collard fight on the Vasiliy Lomachenko-Teofimo Lopez card Saturday in Las Vegas will be disappointed.

Collard, scheduled to face Quincy LaVallais in a rematch, was removed from the show after testing positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday, according to multiple reports.

LaVallais (9-0-1, 5 KOs) will fight Quatavious Cash (12-2, 7 KOs) instead in the scheduled eight-round middleweight bout, pending approval of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, BoxingScene.com reported.

Cash is no stranger to the “bubble” at the MGM Grand. The Atlanta fighter defeated Calvin Metcalf in a six-round on June 9. LaVallais, who drew with Collard in June of last year, is coming off a first-round KO of Andrew Goodrich last November.

Collard (9-2-3, 4 KOs) had become a fan favorite during the coronavirus after winning three consecutive fights in entertaining fashion at the MGM.
