ONE Championship today announced the signing of a trio of notable Chinese athletes.
The additions include four-time UFC veteran and winner of “The Ultimate Fighter: China” [autotag]Zhang Lipeng[/autotag] (30-11-2), as well as flyweight prospect [autotag]Banma Duoji[/autotag] (13-1) and multiple-time world champion kickboxer [autotag]Qiu Jianliang[/autotag], who will compete in the ONE Super Series.
The 31-year-old Lipeng won an eight-man welterweight tournament on “TUF: China” in 2014, claiming a split-decision win over Wang Sai in the final. He would go on to pick up a decision win over Brendan O’Reilly before suffering back-to-back losses to Chris Wade and Kajan Johnson before being released from the organization. He’s since put together an impressive 21-2-1 stretch ahead of his ONE Championship debut.
Meanwhile, “Pretty Boy” Duoji made his professional debut in 2016 but has been sidelined since July 2019, the first loss of his pro career. Prior to the setback, the 21-year-old Duoji had rattled off 13 consecutive wins, including 12 knockouts and one submission.
Debut dates and opponents for the new additions are expected to be announced shortly.
