Trailing by four points entering the final quarter, the Tennessee Titans rallied to defeat the Washington Redskins 25-16, Saturday at Nissan Stadium in Nashville.
Trailing 16-12, the Titans (9-6) drove 75 yards in 7 plays ending with Blaine Gabbert rolling to his right connecting with MyCole Pruitt from 2 yards, providing the Titans a 19-16 lead with 4:30 remaining.
On the game’s final play Washington quarterback Josh Johnson was intercepted by Malcom Butler who returned the pass 56 yards for a Titans touchdown for the final 25-16 margin.
Trailing 6-3, Washington had seized the lead when Johnson connected with Michael Floyd from seven yards and Dustin Hopkins kick put Washington (7-8) ahead 10-6 with 4:28 remaining in the first half.
Hopkins enjoyed a 3 for 3 day, connecting on field goals from 50, 40 and 46 yards. His field goals put Washington ahead 3-0, 13-9 and 16-12 with 8:09 remaining in the contest.
Adrian Peterson was very productive on several runs, rushing for 119 yards on 26 carries with his longest only being 13 yards. Jamison Crowder led Washington receivers with 78 yards in five receptions and Josh Docton added 30 receiving yards in his three receptions.
Mason Foster, Jonathan Allen and Ryan Kerrigan each contributed a QB sack. Deshazor Everett produced two tackles for a loss, while Foster, Allen, Kerrigan, Daron Payne and Pernell McPhee all had one.
