Report: Oregon guard Priscilla Williams enters transfer portal

Oregon guard Priscilla Williams will reportedly enter the transfer portal and leave the Ducks.

It’s the first of what could be many.

Oregon women’s basketball had a very down year and a roster turnover is expected as the first of many dominoes fell as 247Sports reporter Erik Skopil says Duck point guard Priscilla Williams will enter the transfer portal and leave Eugene.

Williams was a Duck for just one season after transferring to Oregon from South Florida. The redshirt sophomore averaged just 2.6 points a game and just over 13 minutes a game.

She started her career at Syracuse where she averaged almost 10 points a game as a freshman, but then moved on to South Florida where she battled injuries and only appeared in a handful of games.

WBB Recap: Ducks win fourth straight with close victory over UTSA

The Oregon women’s basketball team won its fourth straight with a 61-48 victory over UTSA.

The Oregon Ducks women’s basketball team has played its best in the fourth quarter and today’s game with Texas-San Antonio wasn’t any different.

The Ducks outscored the Roadrunners 16-11 in the final 10 minutes of action to pull away from UTSA for the 61-48 win. The victory was Oregon’s fourth straight as the Ducs improved to 8-3 overall. The Roadrunners dropped to 5-5.

Oregon was able to enjoy the debut of point guard Priscilla Williams, who had to sit out the beginning of the season due to NCAA transfer rules. It was a good thing she was able to play because Williams scored 13 points for the home Ducks. Chance Gray led the team with 14.

Whether Williams will continue to be eligible to play still remains to be seen, however. Oregon is her third team and the rules get a bit funky for multiple transfers. But in this two-week window, Williams is able to play.

It’s amazing Oregon was able to hold the Roadrunners off the scoreboard as much as they did as UTSA pounded the Ducks in rebounds to the tune of a 57-38 margin.

But UTSA was just 2-of-18 from downtown and 20-of-77 (26 percent) overall from the field. Oregon had a huge advantage at the free throw line as the Ducks hit 19-of-26, while UTSA was just 6-of-7. That 13-point difference at the charity ultimately was the margin in the final score.

Now the Ducks will now travel to St. George, Utah to participate in the Trailblazer Classic Dec. 19 and 21. Oregon opens with Utah Tech before playing Oklahoma State.

Ducks add former 5-star recruit Priscella Williams to the roster

Former 5-star recruit Priscilla Williams is looking to rebound from injury and jump-start a promising career at Oregon.

The transfer portal continues to spit out talent that is headed to Eugene to play for Oregon Ducks women’s basketball team.

This time it’s former five-star recruit and South Florida guard Priscilla Williams from Branson, Missouri. She was at Syracuse for the 2020-21 season and missed 2021-22 with injury before joining the Bulls for last year’s campaign.

At-6-foot-2, Williams was the No. 9 overall recruit in the Class of 2020 and she didn’t disappoint in her freshman season. She appeared in 21 games while making 20 starts, averaging 8.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. She cracked double figures nine times with two 20-point efforts. She shot 37.5 percent from the floor and 37.0 percent from 3-point range.

Although it was more than a year later, her injury still hampered her some at South Florida where Williams played in 17 games, averaging 6.6 minutes a game, scoring 38 points (2.2 per game), grabbing 18 rebounds (1.1 per game) and shot 40.9 percent from deep (9-for-22). She showed her potential in a season-best 12 points in 12 minutes, going 4-for-6 from 3, in a 75-50 win over La Salle.

“Priscilla is a proven player at this level and possesses great leadership skills. She has great length and is an elite shooter with great range, and also is extremely versatile at both ends of the floor,” Oregon coach Kelly Graves said. “She’s eager to prove herself and get back to the player she can be. Priscilla fits in nicely with our current group. She is a great teammate with a fun personality that gives us experience in a young backcourt. She’s just scratching the surface of her potential and we cannot wait to see what she can do at Oregon.”

Williams has two years of eligibility remaining.
