AEW Rampage results 12/8/23: Bryan Danielson teaches Daniel Garcia another lesson

It also appeared Julia Hart welcomed a challenge from Abadon for her TBS Championship on AEW Rampage from Montreal.

It’s time for some magic. And by that we mean Daddy Magic Matt Menard, who is on guest commentary tonight on AEW Rampage.

Only fitting since Menard is from Montreal, sight of tonight’s show (which was taped on Wednesday). There’s some good stuff in store, including a Continental Classic match between Bryan Danielson and Daniel Garcia. There’s almost no way that’s not good stuff.

  • Orange Cassidy def. Angelico by pinfall to retain the AEW International Championship
  • Abadon def. Trish Adora by pinfall; afterward, the lights go out and back on to reveal Julia Hart, who lays the TBS Championship in front of Abadon, who picks it up but finds it gone (along with Hart) once the lights go off and on again
  • The Mercedes Martinez and Willow Nightingale promo is shown again
  • The Don Callis Family (Powerhouse Hobbs and Konosuke Takeshita) def. Christopher Daniels and Matt Sydal by pinfall, with Callis offering his “insight” as the fourth man at the commentary table
  • Renee Paquette talks to Top Flight and Action Andretti, who say they’ll accept the trios challenge sent their way by Penta El Zero Miedo last week
  • Bryan Danielson def. Daniel Garcia by submission in a Continental Classic Blue League match, sending Danielson to six points and mathematically eliminating Garcia from contention to advance from the group stage; notably, Garcia didn’t do his dance and reverted to trunks and wearing a towel around his neck on the way to the ring

AEW Rampage results 12/1/23: Danhausen back in action, Statlander and Blue find common ground

Danhausen back in the ring and some unexpected teamwork were highlights of this week’s AEW Rampage.

It’s Friday night, and you know what that means!

Well, most Fridays, anyway. AEW Rampage shifted to Saturday last week for reasons, but is back in its familiar night and time this week. What are we looking at? Men’s and women’s trios matches, for starters, including what should be an incredible lucha-flavored showdown.

Let’s cross body our way into the action.

AEW Rampage results:

  • Orange Cassidy, Hook, Danhausen and Trent Beretta def. The Dark Order (Evil Uno and Alex Reynolds), Matt Menard and Angelo Parker by pinfall, with Wheeler Yuta joining the announcers midway through the match and not too pleased with the outcome
  • Renee Paquette joins Saraya, Ruby Soho and Anna Jay, and Anna tells Angelo Parker he can’t go to the ring with her, plus Saraya still doesn’t want him seeing Ruby

  • Sting and Ric Flair join Tony Schiavone in the ring to walk down memory lane

  • Paquette talks to Kris Statlander, Hikaru Shida and Skye Blue, with Shida forced to play peacekeeper between the other two and cheerleader as well ahead of tonight’s trios match
  • The Don Callis Family (Powerhouse Hobbs, Konosuke Takeshita and Kyle Fletcher) def. local talent in a quick squash match, and Callis taunts the Golden Jets afterward
  • Prince Nana and Brian Cage talk about the Mogul Embassy being on a roll, and Nana tells The WorkHorsemen they have a chance to impress them tonight and possibly earn spots on the team

AEW Collision results 11/17/23: Final pieces fall in place for Full Gear

A special Friday episode of AEW Collision finalized some more stipulations and matches for Full Gear.

Saturday night may be alright for fighting, but when Full Gear takes up that night, AEW Collision has to try to prove that Friday is fine for fighting as well. It’s actually going to be a very full Friday, with Collision followed by Rampage and then an ROH taping.

But we care about Collision for now, where there will be several matches with potential Full Gear repercussions and another where someone will earn a TNT Championship shot … for later tonight on Rampage. We told you, there’s a lot of wrestling coming up.

With that in mind, let’s not waste any more time, we’re diving in.

AEW Collision results from Inglewood:

  • Tony Schiavone reluctantly holds the mic for Christian Cage, who claims Full Gear will be Sting’s last match ever and says he’s going to break Adam Copeland’s neck
  • Big Bill and Ricky Starks tell Lexy Nair that they’ve asked for and been granted the request to make the four-way tag team title match at Full Gear a Ladder match
  • Miro def. Daniel Garcia by submission, with Daddy Magic taking an accidental bump from Garcia after trying to stop Daniel from dancing during the match
  • Andrade El Idolo is happy to have CJ Perry as a manager, and they reveal that he’s entered into the Continental Classic

AEW Dynamite results 11/15/23: Omega finds some redemption, MJF has nowhere to turn

The Street Fight was wildly entertaining, but Bullet Club Gold left no doubt MJF is in its crosshairs on AEW Dynamite.

If you can’t settle things in the ring, just take it to the streets like the Doobie Brothers once sang. If that very old reference is over your head, we promise that everything will become clear tonight on AEW Dynamite from Ontario, Calif.

The big match being promoted for this show is the Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name Street Fight, and yes, that is its full name thanks to some sponsorship love from Sega. On one side is The Don Callis Family, with Brian Cage filling in for the still injured Sammy Guevara.

On the other side are The Golden Jets, Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega. But to round out their four-man team, they each called a friend: Omega sent the Omega-Signal up for Kota Ibushi, while Jericho summoned former tag team partner Paul Wight.

Wight amusingly said he’s not even sure what the match will entail, so that can only mean fun. Sure, there’s other interesting stuff on tonight’s card as well, including The Young Bucks taking on Penta and Komander, as well as Red Velvet going up against Skye Blue in a TBS Championship eliminator.

But at the end of the day, we’re suckers for a good Street Fight. And this one should indeed be good.

Plus we’ll see if the Devil shows up to make MJF’s life miserable again, and perhaps the announce team will discuss this tidbit from Tony Khan:

Twelve men enter, one man leave. Or something like that. It’s time for a Dynamite Dozen Battle Royale tonight on AEW Dynamite from Rosenberg, TX.

MJF has made the Dynamite Diamond Ring even more securely than Gollum did the One Ring, considering that no one to date has been able to win it from him. Will that change in 2023? First we need to figure out who will face him for it, which tonight’s battle royale will accomplish.

Which 12 men are competing? We don’t know that yet, but Juice Robinson and Dustin Rhodes are among them. Should be a fun time regardless of who else is in the mix.

Like big names in action? Tonight’s Dynamite has some of those too. Kenny Omega will take on Aussie Open’s Kyle Fletcher, while “Switchblade” Jay White battles Penta El Zero Miedo. Also it looks like Hikaru Shida vs. Emi Sakura has been added in a clash between student and teacher.

Plus there’s other potentially good stuff in the pipeline. Sting will address AEW fans, though we hope it’s not for the reason many are speculating. Adam Copeland will finally offer his rebuttal to possibly former friend Christian Cage. And Jim Ross will have a sitdown interview with Nick Wayne and his mom.

All the while, we’re grinding toward Full Gear. So we could see more developments on that front as well. Never hurts to have a few matches booked in advance, right?

We’re looking forward to seeing what’s in store for the peeps in the Houston area, provided they aren’t too concerned with what’s going on with their Astros. Let’s get into it.

AEW Dynamite Title Tuesday results 10/10/23: New champs, overlapping feuds on super-sized show

See who won titles on AEW Dynamite Title Tuesday, and if Adam Copeland won his AEW in-ring debut.

It’s not that often that Tuesday night is the night for a big pro wrestling showdown. Monday night, sure, as they were the stuff of legend once upon a time. More recently it was Wednesday nights where a young AEW Dynamite and WWE’s NXT were on against each other, but that ended when NXT departed for Tuesdays. Alas, Dynamite was bumped up to Tuesday this week by the MLB Playoffs, putting them in direct competition for again one week only.

Happily, both companies took this very calmly and are proceeding like it’s business as usual.

Wait, what’s that? You say this is pro wrestling so they actually did the exact opposite of that?

That tracks. We’re here to talk about the AEW Dynamite part of this equation, which Tony Khan and company have dubbed Title Tuesday or Title Fight Tuesday depending on which X post we’re talking about. There are championship matches, sure. Saraya vs. Hikaru Shida for the AEW Women’s World Championship for one. Rey Fenix vs. Jon Moxley for the AEW International Championship for another.

But there’s more, including the AEW in-ring debut of Adam Copeland, the artist formerly known as Edge. Plus the first 30 minutes will be sans commercials, and Khan says he’s secured an overrun as well.

And if all of that wasn’t enough, there’s even a Buy-In pre-show like this was a pay-per-view, and no big deal, it just has Eddie Kingston vs. Minoru Suzuki. Damn.

AEW Dynamite preview 10/10/23: Title Tuesday will start early, run long

AEW is loading up its special Title Tuesday Dynamite, which will even have its own Buy-In pre-show.

Tuesday is generally one of the calmer nights of any given week in pro wrestling, but that’s definitely not the case for tonight. As a result, AEW is loading up a special Tuesday night episode of Dynamite that is not just themed as Title Tuesday but also will have its own Buy-In pre-show, feature 30 minutes without commercials and reportedly have an overrun as well.

Why all the fuss? Well, once it became clear that Dynamite would have to switch nights this week due to the MLB Playoffs on TBS, it left the show head to head with WWE’s NXT — and at the exact same time as well. WWE spent several weeks reinforcing its broadcast with stars of the past (The Undertaker?!?) and present, to which AEW did the only sensible thing: It started loading up Dynamite too.

The result should be a show fans won’t want to miss, which we suppose is the point. It will start with the Buy-In, a 30-minute pre-show on YouTube and social media that features Eddie Kingston defending both his ROH and NJPW Strong championships against the legendary Minoru Suzuki. Yes, on the pre-show.

Once the broadcast begins in earnest on TBS, there’s a whole mess of goodness on the way, beginning with the first 30 minutes commercial-free. It may include the in-ring AEW debut of Adam Copeland as he takes on Luchasaurus. Or the first part of the show could be where we see Powerhouse Hobbs battle Chris Jericho, or Jay White vs. Hangman Adam Page for the first time since their NJPW days, or perhaps a TNT Championship No. 1 contenders match pitting Swerve Strickland against Bryan Danielson.

And since the show is dubbed Title Tuesday, it has to have championship matches — two, as it turns out. One will see Saraya put the AEW Women’s World Championship on the line against former champ Hikaru Shida. The other will be the third meeting between Rey Fenix and Jon Moxley as the latter tries to reclaim the AEW International Championship from the former.

That already sounds like a lot, but AEW is also promoting appearances from world champion MJF and “Timeless” Toni Storm, which might be why there are reports that Tony Khan has secured an overrun for Dynamite from TBS. OK, look, the whole “time flies when you’re having fun” thing is a little tired, for sure. But holy crap, AEW Dynamite has been on the air for four years? It feels like just yesterday AEW was the little startup wrestling promotion that could, and now it’s out here showing off WWE Hall of Famers and stuff.

Well yes, it already had a few of those, granted. But Adam Copeland, the man formerly known as Edge, was WWE through and through … until he wasn’t. He’s already spoken with a couple media outlets about why he made the big move at this point in his career (not this one, but it’s cool, we’ll talk to you eventually Mr. Copeland), but he may tell the whole world more as he’s definitely scheduled to speak on Dynamite tonight in Stockton.

It wouldn’t be a proper anniversary celebration without a title match, and Dynamite is giving us one of those as well. Rey Fenix, who only recently won the International Championship from Jon Moxley, will defend it against one half of the Young Bucks, Nick Jackson. It’s always fun when tag team specialists get a singles run, and that could apply to the winner no matter who it turns out to be.

Speaking of tag teams, it’s hard to find many more unlikely than Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega. Yet the enemy of my enemy is truly my friend, which is why they’re joining forces in Stockton to continue their battle against The Don Callis Family … which hasn’t been going well as of late if we’re being honest.

We’ll also hear from Juice Robinson and The Gunns of Bullet Club Gold, and we’re guessing there will be some surprises in store as well given the occasion. Let’s find out.

  • Because of the audio issues, the Cole-Strong video is shown again, with Roddy guilt tripping Adam into rearranging the furniture and putting off his ankle surgery again

  • The second part of Toni Storm’s interview goes even worse for poor RJ City until he convinces her that she’s “Timeless,” and apparently that version of her will premiere tonight

AEW Collision results 09/09/23: Jade returns, Strong, Joe advance

This week’s AEW Collision also saw Ricky Starks escalate things even further with Bryan Danielson and the BCC thanks to some Big help.

If we had a dime for every time some wrestling show was called the start of a new era … well, we wouldn’t have all that much money, because dimes aren’t worth too much in 2023. But we would have a lot of dimes, which isn’t nothing. Yet that actually applies to AEW Collision this week in Cleveland.

An argument could be made that the new, post-CM Punk era of Collision actually started last week, since he was fired the day before. It’s just that Tony Khan was still in full explaining mode that night in Chicago, and though the Young Bucks appeared on that episode, it’s not likely that he had his full plans in place for a brand that was essentially built around Punk.

He’s really gone now, though, so Collision will look different going forward. For tonight, it means settling who’s moving on from the semifinals in the Grand Slam World Title Eliminator tournament. Plus Jon Moxley will defend his AEW International Championship against Action Andretti.

  • Renee Paquette talks with Saraya and Ruby Soho, who are both upset about whatever is going on with Toni Storm, while Saraya does the usual “I’m going to walk in and walk out with my championship” thing about her next title defense
  • Tony Schiavone tries and mostly fails to get to the bottom of the ongoing issues between Eddie Kingston and Claudio Castagnoli, but the upshot of it is that there will be a match between the two of them for Kingston’s NJPW Strong Openweight Championship at Grand Slam

AEW All Out 2023 results: Mox, Takeshita, Danielson win big in Chicago

Has the week’s drama been put behind AEW? That’s what we’re about to find out as All Out originates from the United Center in Chicago.

As you’ve likely heard by now, Chicago’s favorite son won’t be on this show nor any other AEW show ever again. All the company can do now is try to move forward, something made a tiny bit harder by the fact that this is the company’s second pay-per-view in the span of a week.

It’s doing the best it can, as despite a card that has no AEW World Championship match, it’s not without a number of intriguing matchups. One will see Kenny Omega take on Konosuke Takeshita in what could be a bit of a passing of the torch. Another bout, potentially the night’s main event, will see Orange Cassidy try to defend his AEW International Championship against Jon Moxley in a pairing of two men who are arguably the MVPs of AEW over the past few years.

Ricky Starks, rumored to be the potential opponent for CM Punk before this week’s events, still gets a big showcase against Bryan Danielson, freshly returned from injury. And the irrepressible Darby Allin will throw his body around again in pursuit of the AEW TNT Championship.

This feels like a night where the in-ring work of a talented roster can, at least temporarily, wash away everything else. Let’s find out.
