Alabama lands in top 7 for elite, 2025 4-star PF Matthew Gilhool

On Monday, 2025 four-star power forward Matthew Gilhool released his top seven schools. Alabama made the cut as a finalist.

The Alabama Crimson Tide men’s basketball program is coming off of its best season in program history. That success has trickled down and assisted Alabama in potentially landing some of the top high school prospects in the country. On Monday, 2025 four-star power forward Matthew Gilhool listed Alabama as a finalist to land his commitment.

Gilhool plays for William Penn Charter School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is listed at 6-foot-10 and 205 pounds. When speaking with On3’s Jamie Shaw, Gilhool had the following to say about his style of play:

““I try to play a versatile forward role,” Gilhool told On3. “I rebound, block shots, and can make shots. I’ve been playing with a lot of confidence this summer. I’m playing with coaches who believe in me, and that goes a long way.”

Thus far, Gilhool has scheduled official visits to Georgia Tech and LSU. At this time, he does not have an official visit scheduled to Alabama. It will be interesting to see if the Alabama coaching staff can get Gilhool on campus before he announces his commitment.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow the latest regarding the Alabama basketball program and its efforts on the recruiting trail.

Wisconsin basketball a finalist to land four-star class of 2025 PF EJ Walker

A big announcement to watch later this week:

Wisconsin top class of 2025 target E.J. Walker announced his top four schools in a social media post on Monday.

Walker, who has garnered offers from 27 schools including California,  Tennessee, Illinois and Iowa, has pinpointed Purdue, Ohio State, Wisconsin and South Carolina as those top four schools.

The 6’8″ forward from Kentucky also released that he will announce his collegiate commitment on Friday, May 24 at 6 p.m. Eastern, 5 p.m. Central live at his high school’s gym.

247Sports currently has the four-star power forward as the No. 30 power forward in the class of 2025, No. 2 player from Kentucky and No. 146 overall recruit in the class.

Wisconsin extended its offer to Walker back in May 2023, and he took an official visit to Madison the weekend of April 28. The Erlanger, Kentucky native also took a pair of unofficial trips to UW in June and November 2023.

Wisconsin lacks the requisite forward depth to excel in the Big Ten after seeing Tyler Wahl (graduation) and Gus Yalden (transfer portal) depart after the 2023-24 season. The program did land transfer PF Xavier Amos, but is still in pursuit of more help at the position.

Walker would not be an instant fix for that issue in 2024-25. But he could be a big piece of the front court rotation in Madison for years to come.

Greg Gard’s class of 2025 currently ranks No. 15 in the nation with only one commitment: three-star SG Zach Kinziger.

At 6-foot-11 and 200 pounds, Sherrell can play multiple positions at the college level. He is an elite rebounder and rim protector. Not to mention, he can knock down mid-range jumpers as well. His style of play should bode well in Alabama’s offensive system.

2024 power forward Robert Miller III is scheduled to take an official visit to Alabama from Sept. 22-24.

Miller III’s father, Robert Miller II, played football at LSU. However, Texas is the favorite to land Miller III, according to On3’s RPM.

Alabama could be on the outside looking in at this point in time but could make up some ground with Miller III’s official visit at the end of September.

Bundalo is listed at 6-foot-9 and 210 pounds. He plays for Western Reserve Academy in Hudson, Ohio.

In all likelihood, the Tide sees Bundalo as an athlete that can play multiple positions. Bundalo’s size and length give him the option to play small forward, power forward, or center.

One thing that Alabama head coach Nate Oats loves to have is positionless basketball players. Bundalo fits that profile to a tee.

The Alabama coaching staff extended an offer to the top prospect in the state of Arizona on Wednesday. Power forward Koa Peat of the 2025 class received the offer after having an impressive showing at the recent 3Stripes Select Basketball Championship.

Peat plays for Perry High School in Gilbert, Arizona. As a sophomore, Peat was named the 2022-2023 MaxPreps Arizona High School Basketball Player of the Year. He averaged 19.7 points per game, 9.4 rebounds per game, 3.0 assists per game, and 1.7 blocks per game.

247Sports’ Brandon Jenkins compared Peat to Charlotte Hornets power forward P.J. Washington. Jenkins had the following player evaluation for Peat:

“Peat can affect the game in many ways at such a young age. With elite size for a perimeter prospect, Peat projects and excels as a multi-positional player and defender. He is a high volume rebounder who is most effective while being utilized as a playmaking four-man offensively. Peat embodies the full use of the term versatility as he can create for those around him just as well as he does himself. He has the excellent ball skills to run an offense and the vision to see over a defense to find the open man.”

Alabama could play Peat at small forward or power forward depending on the coaching staff’s preference. First, the Tide will have to out-recruit the likes of blue-blood programs.
