Portland Trail Blazers at Brooklyn Nets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Portland Trail Blazers at Brooklyn Nets odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Portland Trail Blazers (26-42) have lost eight of their last nine games and now visit a surging Brooklyn Nets (36-34) team on Friday night. Tip-off from Barclays Center will be at 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Trail Blazers vs. Nets odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Blazers’ season has gone terribly wrong, with the roster getting ravaged by injuries. PG Damian Lillard’s abdominal injury was the biggest blow, leaving Portland without its top player. Portland has lost its last two games and is just 5-14 in their last 19 contests to drop out of the playoff race in the West. They rank 23rd in points per game (107.1) and their defense isn’t any better, ranking 27th in points allowed per game (113.8).

The Nets lost their last game 113-111 to the Dallas Mavericks, losing on a buzzer-beating three-pointer by SG Spencer Dinwiddie. Prior to that game, the Nets had won four straight, beating the Orlando Magic, New York Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers and Charlotte Hornets. Three of those wins were with PG Kyrie Irving available, but he won’t be on the floor Friday night in Brooklyn due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Trail Blazers at Nets odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Nets 120, Trail Blazers 102

Money line

At -1600, there’s no reason to bet on the money line. You’d need to bet $1,600 just to win $100, and in no way is that worth the risk. PASS.

Against the spread

The Nets are 6-4 ATS in their last 10 games and have covered in their last two games. They’ve 3-1 this season in games they’ve been favored by at least 10 points, so typically, they’re blowing out teams they should beat convincingly.

Take the NETS -14.5 (-110)  to cover the spread against a depleted Portland team.

Over/Under

This has the feel of a blowout, and because of that, I think we could see limited minutes for players such as SF Kevin Durant and G James Harden. The Trail Blazers aren’t going to put up many points to begin with, and the Nets could let their foot off the gas pedal if they pull away in the second half.

Bet the UNDER 227.5 (-107).

Portland Trail Blazers at Brooklyn Nets odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Friday’s Portland Trail Blazers at Brooklyn Nets NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Portland Trail Blazers (34-28) drop by Barclays Center Friday for their third game in a six-game road swing against the Brooklyn Nets (43-20). Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Trail Blazers-Nets odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

Portland won the first two games of its road trip—each by 21 points—first against the Indiana Pacers Tuesday then in a “double-revenge” spot against Western Conference 8-seed Memphis Grizzlies Wednesday.

Before this two-game win streak, the Blazers lost five straight (2-3 against the spread) and have fallen to seventh place in the West (seeds 7-10 participate in the postseason play-in).

Brooklyn has won four in a row and five of its past six games (5-1 ATS) including victories over the Phoenix Suns and Boston Celtics.

The Nets beat the Blazers 116-112 in their first meeting this season with James Harden in the starting 5 but were missing Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.

Trail Blazers at Nets: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Nets 125, Trail Blazers 118

Money line (ML)

Sports bettors should wait as close to the tip-off as possible when betting the NBA in the regular season, and the NETS (-115) are the prime example of why.

Brooklyn’s Big 3 has been known to be held out of games or even taken out mid-game for murky reasons whether it be in or out of their control.

However, my hunch is that KD and Kyrie both suit up for this game and put up a motivated effort since Blazers All-Star Damian Lillard is the opponent.

Furthermore, Brooklyn could also see the returns of SG Bruce Brown, who’s a very good defender and rebounder in the backcourt, and rim-running young big Nicolas Claxton.

Given how good KD looked last night—42 points on 66.7% shooting with 10 assists—and a possibly healthy and motivated Brooklyn team, the play is NETS (-115) for 1 unit (if KD and Kyrie play).

Against the spread (ATS)

PASS since Brooklyn’s money line is only five cents on the dollar more expensive than Nets -1 (-110).

Over/Under (O/U)

Slight “LEAN” to the OVER 240.5 (-110) for a quarter unit since it’s obvious bookmakers are anticipating a higher scoring Trail Blazers-Nets despite their first meeting going Under a 232-point total.

There’s a lot of firepower on the court between both teams, and each is jostling for playoff positioning. So my read is the pace picks up in this meeting, and both offenses will fill it up tonight.
