New Tiger Woods PopStroke venue in Florida set to open with upgraded amenities

The location has two artificial turf mini-golf courses set amid tropical landscaping.

There’s a new Tiger Woods’ PopStroke set to open in West Palm Beach this month, with a new level of amenities added to the family-friendly golf and dining venue.

PopStroke takes the old concept of mini-golf and elevates it into a high-tech experience that is heavy on perks, plus food and drink.

During a preview of the West Palm Beach complex on Dec. 5, PopStroke Chief Executive Greg Bartoli showed the many details he hopes will transform the nearly $20 million site into a flagship destination for the company.

The location has two artificial turf mini-golf courses set amid tropical landscaping, outdoor lighting and misting fans.

The venue also features a children’s playground, a restaurant, six bars, and six 24-foot-by-13-foot jumbotron video screens that display leaderboards and sports games.

This PopStroke location, the second in Palm Beach County (the other is in Delray Beach), also has the most extra of touches: A 21 and older VIP lounge, featuring a swimming pool and bar.

The West Palm Beach PopStroke, at 2429 Perimeter Rd., will open to the public Dec. 20, at 10 a.m. The property, off Belvedere Road just west of Interstate 95, is on land leased from the Palm Beach International Airport.

Bartoli, who is partners with Woods in the venture, said he’s tried to create a lively atmosphere for everyone, “like a backyard party.”

PopStroke is a far cry from the mini-golf courses that once dotted many Old Florida tourist towns.

But Bartoli said the influx of companies and residents into Palm Beach County in recent years, a trend accelerated during the COVID pandemic, created the need for a centrally-located gathering spot.

“There’s no windmills, no clowns,” Bartoli said of PopStroke. “Instead, we’ve made a beautiful environment that can appeal to different guests.”

Palm Beach County “has the nicest, world-class resorts,” Bartoli added, “and we want to make this a showcase property.”

The newly-built PopStroke reflects the increasingly upscale orientation of businesses throughout Palm Beach County, whether it’s private clubs, hotels, office buildings and shopping centers.

Who can play at PopStroke?

There’s something for everyone at PopStroke, from visitors aged three to 93.

During the day, children and families can play golf or enjoy other games, such as cornhole. In addition to a family-friendly restaurant, there’s also an ice cream parlor.

At night, PopStroke’s dramatic lighting creates the scene for gatherings of friends and professionals, he said.

Meanwhile, the members-only VIP room will be its own scene, right down to the food.

The sushi served in the lounge will be flown in from Japan and prepared by chefs who previously worked at Nobu, Bartoli said.

In addition to the swimming pool and cabanas, the VIP lounge also has showers, changing rooms and lockers.

‘Sand’ traps, hills and lots of extras

The West Palm Beach location PopStroke features two 18-hole mini-golf courses designed by a professional golf course designer.

The courses are intended to mimic the traits of a regular golf course. This includes plenty of sand traps made of white artificial turf, plus lots of little hills.

In addition to the putting courses, there’s also an extra “challenge” hole to play.

Key to the PopStroke experience is the blending of sports with technology. Guests must download an app to play golf at PopStroke. The app allows players to update their scores on the jumbotron leaderboards. Guests also can order drinks, which are delivered by servers to the customer’s exact spot on the (mini) greens.

PopStroke also has a two-story restaurant and amenities building.

A ground-floor restaurant will serve a traditional American menu. The space opens to a fenced-in children’s playground.

Bartoli, who has three young children, said parents can watch their children play while they finish their meals in peace.

Above the restaurant is a second-floor event space with its own bar. Bartoli said the venue can accommodate up to 100 guests for events ranging from birthday parties to corporate gatherings.

But only VIP club members can rent the upstairs VIP space, he said.

However, for an unspecified amount, he said the entire PopStroke space can be rented out.

How much does it cost to play?

The restaurant is open to the public, and people do not need to buy a golf pass to eat there.

But for those wanting to play the mini-golf courses, PopStroke costs $30 per person for an all-day pass from Monday through Thursday, and $35 from Friday through Sunday.

Discounts are available for children and seniors.

PopStroke memberships are available for $30 a month and provide unlimited golf play, plus 25% off food and beverage and 20% off events.

The VIP space has a different fee: $5,000 a year. VIP members get a “fast pass” to the courses and are first in line to tee off.

Why Bartoli created PopStroke

Bartoli, a former Wall Street banker, moved to Florida several years ago and settled in Jupiter with his young family.

He quickly became a mini-golf aficionado and developed the Lighthouse Cove Adventure Golf course, which has two locations in Jupiter.

But Bartoli said he still yearned for a golf venue where he could bring his three children and enjoy some adult me-time.

When he created PopStroke in 2018, he made sure to include play areas and playgrounds along with sports bars and television sets.

Bartoli opened PopStroke’s first location in Port St. Lucie in 2019, then brought on Woods, who lives in Jupiter Island, as a co-owner in 2020. Woods’ TGR Design redid the Port St. Lucie course.

PopStroke’s first Palm Beach County location, at 1314 N. Federal Highway in Delray Beach, opened in November 2023.

Since then, the company has opened locations across the country, including Las Vegas, Arizona and Texas. More locations are planned.

PopStroke was going to open a location in Wellington, but Bartoli said that spot has been put on hold for now.

Instead, he said PopStroke wants to build up the West Palm Beach location as a dominant destination and attract people “from all over the county.”

Woods isn’t the only major golf investor to get involved in PopStroke Entertainment Group.

The equipment company TaylorMade joined with the venture, too. Each PopStroke venue is outfitted with special edition TaylorMade golf balls for patrons to use on the putting course and take home as a keepsake.

Putters are included in the PopStroke day pass, but premium TaylorMade rental putters can be rented for $10.

PopStroke’s offices in Jupiter and Stuart employ about 75. But the company nationwide employs 2,000.

And at the West Palm Beach location alone, the company expects to hire between 175-200 people, Bartoli said.

The Popstroke golf courses are among the numerous facilities that have been coming to Palm Beach County, which is known by some to be the “golf capital of the world” because it is home to 145 courses and many of the golfers on the PGA Tour.

Photos: PopStroke readies ‘flagship’ location in Florida with outdoor rooftop pool, sushi lounge

PopStroke will soon have 17 locations in six states.

The first PopStroke opened in Florida in 2019 and there are now 15 locations in six states. The 16th will open soon in San Antonio and then all eyes will be on No. 17.

That’s the one that PopStroke is calling its “flagship” venue.

Billed as the most expansive build-out yet, the Palm Beach, Florida, location will have an outdoor rooftop pool and a sushi lounge.

Popstroke calls its experiences “elevated mini golf and entertainment venues backed by Tiger Woods and TaylorMade.”

PopStroke is also currently engaged in a fundraiser throughout the month of October in partnership with The Jimmy Fund and The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. PopStroke is donating $1 from every round of golf, with $100,000 already raised for The Jimmy Fund.

Will Tiger Woods attend the PopStroke opening in Tuscaloosa? (It’s behind schedule, but almost open)

Will Tiger Woods be at the PopStroke opening in Tuscaloosa?

PopStroke looks to be teeing off early in the new year. When announced in April, the original plan was for fall 2023, but that proved optimistic.

But anyone driving on McFarland past the Helen Keller Boulevard site can’t help but notice emerald mounds, blue steel containers and landscaping arising over recent weeks. Because of holiday breaks in construction, Popstroke, partnered with Tiger Woods and TaylorMade Golf, is shooting for a mid-January 2024 opening.

“There’s been a lot of progress out there the last few weeks,” said Shane Robichaud, president of PopStroke. “Electricians are out there finishing up. Our audiovisual-slash-tech team is doing their installation: TVs, speakers, data poles …. The landscapers are finishing up, putting pavers out in the courtyard.

“And our course guy is putting finishing touches on the greens, literally making the turf smooth, getting the sand infill out on the turf, making sure the ball rolls perfectly, that all the seams are invisible …. We call it PopStroke perfect.”

Other touches such as benches, signage, handrails and garbage cans are moving into place, and those boxcar-like containers are being outfitted into what will be kitchens, bars, point-of-sale spots, restrooms and more. They’re being leveled, painted, and otherwise touched up.

The family-friendly “putt-putt golf on steroids,” as Tuscaloosa City Council President Kip Tyner called it, has had to push back planned opening dates a few times, but construction has remained steady since the spring site announcement, with bulldozers grading the land before shiny artificial-surface greens began to be laid in place this fall.

What will be just the 10th PopStroke in the country is going up over a previously undeveloped stretch of land off Helen Keller Boulevard, adjacent to Baumhower’s Victory Grille and a Hampton Inn. Though nearly abutting the University of Alabama, the site sits in Tyner’s Alberta district.

It’s not the only interesting new development rolling into Tuscaloosa from outside. In September, Sports Illustrated and Travel + Leisure announced they would locate their first resort destination here, on Rice Mine Loop, north of the Woolsey Finnell Bridge, an area previously planned as other projects, including The Bend, a mixed-use residential/shopping/entertainment plan.

With planned completion and opening by late 2025, it’ll be a game-changer, said Norman Crow, city councilor for District 3, where the development’s going. And like PopStroke, the Crimson-Tide-rich SI Resort should create a year-round destination with branding recognized far and wide.

Further downtown will be the STEAM-powered Saban Center, a project combining forces with Nick’s Kids — the charitable organization of the Nick and Terry Saban family — the city of Tuscaloosa, and other major donors and stakeholders. For more, see www.sabancenter.org.

Though the Druid City has experienced significant growth this century, especially in rebuilding after the April 27, 2011, tornado outbreak, it’s hard to find comparable local operations to weigh these sorts of projects against, in terms of potential economic and tourism impact.

“Efforts and developments such as this enhance our quality of life and add to the attractiveness of making the Tuscaloosa area a great place to live and visit,” said Kelsey Colglazier Rush, president and CEO for Visit Tuscaloosa. “As Tuscaloosa County’s destination marketing organization, it’s our responsibility to share the spirit of our destination.

“Our team is passionate about showcasing the positive momentum and new developments we’re experiencing with both our residents and our visitors, much like PopStroke.”

In 2019, PopStroke CEO Greg Bartoli created the first of its kind in Port St. Lucie, Florida, in 2019, with 15-time major champion Woods coming in as co-owner in 2020. PopStroke wishes to bring together all ages and skill levels in a family-friendly environment, while offering ice cream, craft beers, and other food and beverages. Before the April announcement of a Tuscaloosa location, there were seven in Florida, and one each in Arizona and Texas. The ninth, Delray Beach, opened in early November. Tuscaloosa was announced as part of a planned expansion into 13 new locations.

Again due to holiday uncertainty, the opening for Tuscaloosa hasn’t yet been fully formed, though sadly, Woods will not be attending, as earlier rumored. There will probably be a cold opening before the grand.

“We usually do a little bit of, kind of a kickoff night, kinda small, probably invitation only,” Robichaud said. “We use that as a training night to get all our staff and employees on board, to work out the kinks.”

Speaking of hiring, that’s still ahead. PopStroke corporate plans to be here early in 2024 to put the team together, Robichaud said. This site will likely hire 40, with 15 to 20 working per shift, though as Tuscaloosa is on a different scale from some of the larger-population locations, that’s still in process, too.

Job possibilities can be found online at www.popstroke.com/workatpopstroke, including bartenders, food runners and more, though specifics for Tuscaloosa are not yet laid out. Those interested should send a resume and application to hiring@popstroke.com.

Local menus and pricing haven’t been announced, but other PopStrokes price 18 holes at $20, or $25 for a day pass; with military and seniors, 60 and up, at $15; and children $12. Putters will be available, but guests may also bring their own.

Other PopStroke menus show appetizers, salads, burgers, sandwiches, tacos and sides, most in the $10 to $20 range, with kids’ menu items at $8 each. Entrees include Churrasco Skirt Steak, at $25, Grilled Salmon at $24, Chicken Tenders at $18, and Caribbean Mahi at $21. For more, see www.popstroke.com.

Photos: Popstroke opens second Arizona location in Scottsdale

The Tiger Woods Popstroke franchise is opening its eighth location in the U.S. and second in Arizona.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Popstroke, dubbed an “elevated mini golf and entertainment venue backed by Tiger Woods and TaylorMade”, is opening its eighth location in the U.S. and second in Arizona.

Popstroke Scottsdale held an exclusive first-look event Wednesday night with the grand opening set for Friday, Oct. 6, at noon. This newest location is tucked in behind Salt River Fields, the spring training home for the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies, and right across the 101 freeway from a Topgolf location.

Like the other Popstroke locations, golfers can keep score on the Popstroke app, with jumbotrons around the venue displaying in-game scoring. There is a Black course and a more challenging Red course. You can order drinks and have them brought out to you on the course. When you’re hungry, there’s two large outdoor sports bars with menu service.

And at the end of your round, you don’t watch your ball disappear into the final hole, never to be seen again. At Popstroke, golfers get to keep their TaylorMade ball.

Take a look at the Scottsdale Popstroke.

Another Florida hotspot is getting a Tiger Woods-backed PopStroke

The franchise will pay more than $440,000 in annual rent for the location.

The modern miniature golf course franchise PopStroke, which is backed by Tiger Woods, is adding yet another hot spot to its growing roster of locations.

According to a story in the Palm Beach Post, part of the USA Today Network, a 2025 opening date is expected for a Palm Beach location that will be built on airport property at the southwestern intersection of Australian Avenue and Belvedere Road, adjacent to Palm Beach International Airport.

According to the story, the franchise will pay more than $440,000 in annual rent for the location, although that price could be readjusted. The county will also get a percentage of gross revenues, which could drive the rent higher.

Here’s more from the story:

The agreement calls for a payment equal to 4% of annual gross revenues up to $10 million, plus 2% of annual gross revenues exceeding $10 million. If revenue calculations exceed the flat amount, PopStroke will have to pay the higher figure.

The project includes two 18-hole mini-golf courses that will feature jumbotron screens, music and a mobile app delivery of drinks. It will also feature an open-air building with a full-service restaurant, a rooftop pool and multiple bars, including one centered in the middle of the golf area.

It’s the second golf-themed entertainment venue that will be constructed next to the airport in recent years. Drive Shack, a high-tech driving range with an upscale sports-bar environment, opened in 2020 at 1710 Belvedere Road. And not too far away, The Park, a 192-acre public golf course, debuted this spring at 7301 Georgia Ave.

Dylana Silver-O’Brien, PopStroke’s marketing vice president, said the company was attracted to the airport site because it is centrally located. More than 6 million passengers a year fly in and out of Palm Beach International Airport.

The upscale putting and dining venue has plans for a number of new locations to be opened in 2024, with most of the announcements coming months after TaylorMade Golf Company made a deal with the company to push PopStroke’s value to $650 million.

Four venues already under construction or completed include Scottsdale, Arizona; Delray Beach, Florida; Tuscaloosa, Alabama; and Las Vegas.

Popstroke will also expand to Nashville, Tennessee, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, as well as Dallas, San Antonio and College Station, Texas. Florida will also add additional venues in Orlando/Winter Garden and Daytona Beach.

Popstroke to expand with 13 new venues across the country in Las Vegas, Nashville, more

College-themed venues will open in College Station, Texas and Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

A new Popstroke venue may be coming to your area.

On Wednesday the upscale putting and dining venue announced the plans for 13 new locations to be opened in 2023 and 2024, just months after TaylorMade Golf Company made a deal with the company to push PopStroke’s value to $650 million.

Three venues are already under construction in Scottsdale, Arizona, Delray Beach, Florida and Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Las Vegas is expected to break ground in May, and all four are scheduled to open by the end of this year.

Popstroke will also expand to Nashville, Tennessee, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, as well as Dallas, San Antonio and College Station, Texas. Florida will also add additional venues in Orlando/Winter Garden, Daytona Beach, Wellington, and West Palm Beach.

“We are seeing huge consumer demand to bring our immersive experience into new cities. PopStroke was created to bring people together across all ages and skill levels through the game of golf. We are thrilled to expand our reach and share the PopStroke experience with new guests,” said CEO and Founder Greg Bartoli via a release.

Bartoli opened PopStroke’s first location in Port St. Lucie, Florida, in 2019, then brought on 15-time major champion Tiger Woods as a co-owner in 2020.

PopStroke venues feature two 18-hole putting courses created by Woods and his TGR Design team, a full-service restaurant and bar that includes outdoor dining areas, various outdoor games, a playground and even an ice cream parlor. TaylorMade provides golf balls for customers to use on the course and take home as a keepsake, as well as rental putters.

Tiger Woods announces latest PopStroke venue in Tampa, Florida, will open later this month

Venue includes two 18-hole putting courses, a full-service restaurant, playground and ice cream parlor.

Another PopStroke location is scheduled to open next week.

On Thursday morning 15-time major champion Tiger Woods took to Twitter to announce the golf entertainment company’s Tampa/Wesley Chapel, Florida, location will open on Feb. 17. PopStroke has six venues up and running, five in the state of Florida and one in Houston. Additional locations are scheduled to open in Glendale and Scottsdale, Arizona, as well as Delray Beach, Florida, over the next six months. The first opened in Port St. Lucie, Florida, in 2019.

“The shape of this property allowed us to get very creative and build one of our most unique set of courses,” said Tiger Woods via a release.

The Tampa location includes two 18-hole putting courses created by Woods and his TGR Design team. The tricky hole locations on the Tiger Red Course will challenge even the most experienced putters, while the Tiger Black Course provides an easier option for families and those new to the game.

The venue also boasts a full-service restaurant, adult beverages for parents, a playground and outdoor area for kids, and even an ice cream parlor.

Last month it was announced that TaylorMade Golf Company had become a partner with Popstroke, pushing the company’s value to $650 million. TaylorMade joined an ownership team that includes PopStroke Entertainment Group, Woods, and founder Greg Bartoli, a former Wall Street executive.

Rickie Fowler, Paula Creamer to team up as part of PopStroke Team Championship’s TaylorMade $25K Showdown

Fowler and Creamer will take on the PopStroke Tour Championship team winners.

Rickie Fowler and Paula Creamer are joining the PopStroke Tour Championship.

The duo will play as the Tour Pro team challenging the PopStroke Tour Championship (PTC) Team winners in the TaylorMade $25K Showdown.

The PTC is a three-day international putting competition (Oct. 26-28), bringing together 500 players, both pros and amateurs, to identify the best putters in the world. The winners of the Team Championship competition will play team Fowler/Creamer in a Made-for-TV, winner-take-all format for $25,000 on Oct. 28 at 3 p.m. ET in Sarasota, Florida.

The PopStroke Tour Championship will be featured on a one-hour live-to-tape broadcast airing on Bally Sports starting on Nov. 20.

Headquartered in Jupiter, PopStroke locations feature two 18-hole putting courses designed by Tiger Woods’ TGR Design. Tiger Woods’ TGR Ventures has become co-owner of PopStroke, which recently redesigned and reopened its original venue in Port St. Lucie.

Fowler and Creamer are two of the most popular players on their respective tours. Fowler has been struggling and is currently ranked 167th in the world. Creamer, who lives in Windermere, returned to the LPGA in September after a maternity leave. Her daughter, Hilton, was born in January.

“We are thrilled that Rickie and Paula have agreed to compete in our inaugural Tour Championship,” PopStroke Founder Greg Bartoli said. “In addition, we are excited to partner with TaylorMade and Bally Sports as we bring this competition to a national stage in seeking the best putter in the world. The response has been incredible with players from across the country as well as players from several countries across the world. We are adding to the excitement by bringing a world-class Pro team with Rickie and Paula to challenge the PTC Team winners.”

TaylorMade CEO and President David Abeles called Fowler and Creamer “iconic TaylorMade brand ambassadors” and is glad they will be the faces of this new event.

“Alongside the platform built by Tiger and PopStroke, their involvement will propel this event to reach golfers across the globe.” Abeles said. “The TaylorMade family is proud to be a central part of it.”

The PTC event will feature two separate competitions in a 72-hole (four 18-hole rounds) tournament competing for a combined purse of $125,000. The Team Championship competition will have a maximum of 200 teams (400 players) competing for a $100,000 prize purse, $20,000 going to the winning team. The Stroke Play (individual) Championship will have a maximum of 100 players competing for a $25,000 prize purse, $5,000 to the winner.
