Best Pokémon and Teams for Element Cup in Pokémon GO

Element Cup will be available in GO Battle League until May 17, 2022, 1 p.m. PDT.

The Element Cup in GO Battle League reduces the complexity of the PvP world of Pokémon GO by only allowing Fire, Water, and Grass types to participate. There is also an upper limit of 500 competition points (CP), and the rule that participating monsters must be the base form of an evolutionary family. This excludes a large part of the Pokémon that exist in the game today, but the selection pool for this competition still can’t be called shallow.

To give you a point of reference, this guide provides an overview of the best Pokémon and teams for Element Cup in Pokémon GO, which will be available in GO Battle League until May 17, 2022, 1 p.m. PDT.

A Poni Adventure Special Research tasks in Pokémon GO

A Poni Adventure awaits you with these tasks and rewards.

You’ve already been able to visit the three islands of Mele-Mele, Akala, and Ula-Ula as part of the Alola adventures in Pokémon GO, and now it’s Poni’s turn. As usual, a Special Research Story, available from Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at 10 a.m. local time, will guide you through the flora and fauna of the island. In parallel, Tapu Fini, patron saint of Poni, debuts as a boss of the level 5 raids in the game.

Complete all four island adventures by June 1, 2022, when the Season of Alola ends, and you’ll gain free access to another Special Research Story. If you don’t manage to complete the four quest lines by then, you’ll have to buy access in the form of a ticket with real money. This final mission may lead you to Aether Paradise, the center island of Alola. First, though, A Poni Adventure awaits you with these tasks and rewards.

A Poni Adventure tasks and rewards in Pokémon GO

A Poni Adventure – Step 1 of 4

  • Catch 10 Pokémon: 10 PokeBalls
  • Power up Pokémon 5 times: 5 Razz Berries
  • Defeat 2 Team GO Rocket Grunts: 3 Hyper Potions
  • Complete this step: 500 XP, 500 Stardust, and Alolan Raticate encounter

A Poni Adventure – Step 2 of 4

  • Catch 3 Water-type Pokémon: Tentacruel encounter
  • Take a snapshot of a Water-type Pokémon: Wailmer encounter
  • Use 5 berries to help catch Pokémon: Wingull encounter
  • Complete this step: 500 XP, 500 Stardust, and a Fast TM

A Poni Adventure – Step 3 of 4

  • Walk 2 Kilometers: Miltank encounter
  • Catch 15 Pokémon: 10 Great Balls
  • Spin 5 PokéStops or Gyms: Stufful encounter
  • Complete this step: 1,000 XP, 1,000 Stardust, and a Premium Battle Pass

A Poni Adventure – Step 4 of 4

  • Send 5 gifts to friends: 10 Great Balls
  • Catch 15 Pokémon: 7 Pinap Berries
  • Win a raid: Alolan Exeggutor encounter
  • Complete this step: 8,000 XP, 3,000 Stardust, and 15 Ultra Balls

Note that in the snapshot task of the second step, you must take a photo of an already caught Water Pokémon for it to count as completed. A snapshot of a wild Pokémon does not count for this purpose. It may also be smart to hold off on this phase of research, which revolves around Water-types, until the start of the Water Festival on Thursday, May 12, 2022. The event will feature a time-limited research focused on catching Pokémon, so it’s possible you’ll be able to solve two quest lines in one fell swoop by saving the second step’s encounters until then.

Best Tapu Fini counters in Pokémon GO

In this guide, we show you how to quickly defeat the Legendary level 5 raid boss from Alola.

What are the best counters against Tapu Fini in Pokémon GO? We’ll show you the answer to that question in this guide on how to quickly defeat the Legendary level 5 raid boss from Alola.

Debuting alongside the Poni Adventure Special Research Story, Tapu Fini is now available in the game’s level 5 raid battles. Representing the Water and Fairy types, this pocket monster is considered the crown jewel of the Alola quartet watching over the archipelago’s islands. The creature’s Shiny variant is not yet available, but you should go on the hunt regardless – after all, your Pokédex wants to be completed.

Tapu Fini: Best Counters – Pokémon GO

  1. Mega Gengar (Lick, Sludge Bomb)
  2. Mega Beedrill (Poison Jab, Sludge Bomb)
  3. Mega Manectric (Thunder Fang, Wild Charge)
  4. Mega Venusaur (Vine Whip, Frenzy Plant)
  5. Zekrom (Charge Beam, Wild Charge)
  6. Zarude (Vine Whip, Power Whip)
  7. Thundurus (Therian Forme) (Volt Switch, Thunderbolt)
  8. Mega Ampharos (Volt Switch, Zap Cannon)
  9. Raikou (Thunder Shock, Wild Charge)
  10. Roserade (Poison Jab, Grass Knot)
  11. Electivire (Thunder Shock, Wild Charge)
  12. Magnezone (Spark, Wild Charge)
  13. Tapu Bulu (Bullet Seed, Grass Knot)
  14. Luxray (Spark, Wild Charge)
  15. Zapdos (Thunder Shock, Thunderbolt)

Tapu Fini, sporting 40,978 competition points (CP) as a level 5 raid boss, is especially vulnerable to Poison, Grass, and Electric-type attacks. Which category you should focus on probably depends on which mega evolution you currently have in reserve – coordinate with your raid partners to set yourself up as effectively as possible.

Four to five trainers around level 40 with appropriate monsters and the support of mega evolutions should easily handle Tapu Fini. After a victory, you may capture the Legendary with a strength between 1,556 and 2,041 CP, with rain and overcast weather making for more powerful specimens.

Mega Latias and Mega Latios are coming to Pokémon GO

The release has been hinted at on the official Pokémon GO Germany Youtube account.

Mega Latias and Mega Latios are coming to Pokémon GO in May 2022 – a prematurely unlocked video on the game’s German YouTube channel has revealed the double debut.

The details of GO Fest 2022 leaked to the press early, data miners knew about the big update to Mega evolutions, and now the official German YouTube channel for Pokémon GO has revealed the introduction of Mega Latias and Mega Latios in May 2022 early. Niantic can’t catch a break.

The legendary Pokémon will appear in their Mega evolutions in the game’s Mega Raid battles from May 3 to May 10, 2022, and it’s quite possible the regular versions will appear in the Tier 5 Raids at the same time. Currently, Shadow Latias is also available as a reward for defeating Rocket boss Giovanni in the game.

Both creatures retain their Dragon and Psychic hybrid typing in their Mega Forms. In the video, you can see that Mega Latias will have 56,399 competition points (CP). Despite the general weakening of Mega Raids in the latest update, this puts the legendary monster on par with the old Mega battles – fitting, considering their status

The debut of the two Pokémon will take place as part of the Air Adventure event, which will probably open up the game’s content in May. For now, Mega Kangaskhan can be found in Mega Raids until May 1. May’s content has not been revealed at the time of writing.

Pokémon GO’s Mega Evolutions may finally become good

Everything you need to know about the new Mega Evolution system in Pokemon Go.

A major update for Mega Evolutions in Pokémon GO structures the feature in a much more user-friendly way and even makes repeated evolutions free, doing away with the frustration of having to farm Mega Energy.

This update, which was leaked back in March by data miners, is intended to make the unpopular feature a lot more attractive for users to engage with. Niantic wants to achieve this by introducing a new leveling system for Mega Evolutions, which offers various bonuses, and by decoupling it from Mega Energy as much as possible. For everything you need to know about the new Mega Evolution system, take a look at our guide below.

[mm-video type=video id=01frjwakwjgg06y7rc42 playlist_id=none player_id=none image=https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/upload/video/thumbnail/mmplus/01frjwakwjgg06y7rc42/01frjwakwjgg06y7rc42-d5933706e31a6f60272b3b57268fae41.jpg]

How do mega levels work in Pokémon GO?

If you perform Mega Evolutions in the future, this action will increase that particular species’ mega level. The higher you push this, the greater bonuses future evolutions will offer you. These include already existing benefits, such as receiving bonus candies when catching monsters of the same type while a Mega Evo is active, as well as providing bonus damage in raids. The brand-new bonuses include:

  • Increased chance of XL candies when catching Pokémon of the same type.
  • Increased experience points when catching Pokémon of the same type.
  • Cooldown reduction for future Mega Evolutions.

A Pokémon’s mega level can only be increased once per day, according to experiences from users in Australia and New Zealand, where the update has already gone live in a field test. Users there estimate that it will take a minimum of 30 days of constant Mega Evolutions to upgrade the mega level of one species to the maximum.

You’ll note the above benefit of a cooldown reduction. This is related to the second major change of the update: Mega Energy, which you currently still need for every Mega Evolution, will now only be required for the very first Mega Evolution of a Pokémon. After that, any repeated evolution is free, but there is a cooldown period before it will be available again. You may reduce this time by raising the mega level or the use of Mega Energy.

It costs 40 energy to immediately prepare a Pokémon for another Mega Evolution. This energy cost steadily decreases over time – after about three days, only half the original investment is needed.

In addition to these changes, the difficulty of Mega Raids is reduced, making it easier to get Mega Energy, and you’ll be able to perform Mega Evolutions directly on the preparation screen for Raid battles – a nifty QoL change. Overall, the community seems to be excited to try the new Mega Evolution system in Pokémon GO now that grinding for Mega Energy will no longer be required.

Mega Kangaskhan may be coming soon

The announcement videos for the update also offered some teasers of Mega Evolutions that may be coming to the game soon: the cries of Mega Latias and Mega Latios can be heard in the background, while Mega Kangaskhan’s silhouette can be seen. The next arrival of a brand new Mega Pokémon is scheduled for next Friday, April 29, 2022. It’s possible that this coincides with the global rollout of this mega update.

Pokémon GO Fest 2022 returns with in-person and online events this summer

Catch ’em all during three separate events.

You better bust out that pokédex and keep an eye out for shinies, as the festivities in Pokémon GO are about to begin.

Pokémon GO Fest 2022 is a global event where aspiring trainers can participate in event-specific challenges, complete special raids, earn sweet costumes, and much more. There’ll be a two-day event from June 4 through June 5, with a massive finale on Aug. 27, 2022. Remember, it doesn’t matter where you live for these, as it’s a worldwide event.

However, there will be three in-person Pokémon GO events coinciding with the celebrations. These are specific to certain cities, and The Pokémon Company insists that everyone abide by local guidelines while having fun.

Pokémon GO Fest 2022 in-person events schedule

  • July 1 through July 3, 2022, in Berlin, Germany
  • July 22 through July 24, 2022, in Seattle, WA, USA
  • Aug. 5 through Aug 7, 2022, in Sapporo, Japan

These will be the first in-person Pokémon GO events since 2019, when thousands of trainers took to the streets in Chicago, Yokohama, and Dortmund. So it’s been a long time coming.

GLHF’s weekly Pokémon GO guides are worth checking out if you want to be the very best.
