Golf instruction: Dialing in pitch shot yardages with backswing cues

Many professional golfers say that accuracy from 100 yards and in is the biggest reason amateurs can’t lower their scores.

Many professional golfers say that accuracy from 100 yards and in is the biggest reason amateurs can’t lower their scores.

This week, Golfweek’s fitness guru and long driver Averee Dovsek breaks down the backswing into four separate positions. Each move and position will signify a carry yardage that golfers can think about when trying to pitch with more accuracy.

Great golfers such as Lydia Ko, Jordan Spieth and Steve Stricker have practiced this method.

Every golfer’s yardage will be different and this should be practiced on the range before taking it to the course.

Buck Showalter might have a point on MLB pitchers needing help with grip after Francisco Lindor was hit by a pitch

Baseball is going to have to do something about pitching grip.

Tensions were clearly just flaring everywhere on Friday night. First, you had a fight in NASCAR. Then you’ve got benches clearing in baseball? What a night, man.

Things got a little out of hand during the Nationals and Mets game on Friday night. Nationals’ pitcher Steve Cishek accidentally beaned Francisco Lindor with a pitch that looked pretty dangerous.

The pitch hit him in the face and ended up chipping his tooth. If it weren’t for the c-flap on his helmet things could’ve ended up a lot worse. Through it all, though, Lindor maintained his composure. That was even after both benches completely cleared and ejections were handed out.

Lindor left the game, but he didn’t have any major injuries and passed concussion protocols. Cishek was ejected from the game after said he escalated things by leaving the mound.

All in all, everyone is OK and there are no actual hard feelings here, believe it or not. Mets manager Buck Showalter doesn’t even blame Cishek.

This is just part of a bigger trend around baseball that seems to be an issue.

This 15 year old girl is casually throwing 100 mph fast balls

At 15 years old you probably weren’t this good at anything.

It’s probably a safe bet to say that most 15 year olds don’t have the arm to pitch in Major League Baseball at such a young age. But this 15 year old isn’t one of them.

A 15 year old named Olivia P. was caught on camera tossing straight heat like it’s nothing. She hit 97 miles per hour on her first pitch and then cranked it up to 100 on the second.

I have no idea what I was doing at 15 years old. Maybe playing some variation of Madden? But, certainly, I was not this good at doing anything — let alone throwing a baseball. She’s throwing like a major league pitcher right now. It’s incredible.

Pretty sure there are some teams that could use her  — the White Sox might be one of them. They better run her her contract right this second.
