Left-handed pitcher Greg Farone became the third Alabama Crimson Tide baseball player to be selected in the 2024 MLB draft. Farone was selected in the seventh round with the No. 208 overall pick by the San Francisco Giants.

Farone spent one season in Tuscaloosa. The New York native spent time at both Herkimer College and Louisville prior to arriving in Tuscaloosa. In his lone season in Tuscaloosa, Farone recorded a 5-3 record and a 4.94 earned run average. He pitched 74.2 innings pitched and struck out 73 batters.

Alabama will have to replace its Day 1 and Day 2 starters next season. Ben Hess was drafted in the first round by the New York Yankees.

It did not take long for Alabama Crimson Tide right-handed pitcher Ben Hess to hear his name called on Sunday during the first round of the 2024 MLB draft. With the No. 26 overall pick in the 2024 MLB draft, the New York Yankees drafted Hess.

Hess spent three seasons in Tuscaloosa. The Illinois native finished his college career with a 12-6 record and a 4.81 earned run average. Hess holds the Alabama career record for strikeout per nine innings with 13.34. He struck out 205 batters in 138.1 innings pitched.

A lot of draft experts expected Hess to be drafted in the second or third round. Hess suffered a season-ending injury during his sophomore season. The Alabama baseball program landed a commitment from Campbell transfer pitcher Packy Bradley-Cooney on Sunday.

The Alabama Crimson Tide baseball program bolstered its bullpen on Sunday. Campbell transfer pitcher Packy Bradley-Cooney announced that he was transferring from Campbell to Alabama.

Bradley-Cooney began his college career at CCBC Essex — a junior college located in Baltimore County, Maryland. In two seasons, Bradley-Cooney recorded 40 strikeouts in 23.2 innings.

Following his sophomore season, Bradley-Cooney transferred to Campbell. In one season with the Camels, Bradley-Cooney recorded a 2-0 record in 25 appearances and held a 6.00 earned run average. In addition, he recorded six saves.

Alabama lost its top bullpen arm this offseason with Alton Davis II transferring to Georgia. It will be interesting to see if Alabama decides to use Bradley-Cooney in a similar role to Davis II. He has the potential to be a key reliever next season for the Crimson Tide.

The Alabama baseball program picked up a commitment on Tuesday evening from USC Upstate transfer pitcher Trent Hodgdon.

The Alabama Crimson Tide baseball program landed a commitment from USC Upstate transfer pitcher Trent Hodgdon. Hodgdon announced the news via social media on Tuesday evening.

Hodgdon became the third pitcher that has transferred to the Crimson Tide this offseason. He joins future teammates Aeden Finateri and Carson Ozmer.

Hodgdon, a native of Smiths Station, Alabama began his college career at West Virginia. During his freshman season, Hodgdon made 10 appearances on the mound for the Mountaineers. He threw eight innings and struck out 12 batters. In addition, he finished the season with a 5.63 earned run average.

Following the conclusion of his freshman season, Hodgdon transferred to USC Upstate. During his sophomore season, he threw 16.1 innings, allowed 12 hits, and struck out 24 batters. Hodgdon also held a 5.51 earned run average. He finished the season with a 0-1 record.

As a sophomore, Hodgdon saw an increased role in the Spartans bullpen. In 24 games, he struck out 51 batters while allowing 29 hits in 31.2 innings pitched. He boasted a 7.39 earned run average and held a 2-3 record.

Hodgdon should add a veteran arm to Alabama’s bullpen. He will help aid in replacing former Alabama reliever Alton Davis II. Davis II transferred to the Georgia Bulldogs this offseason.

The Alabama baseball program bolstered its pitching rotation with the addition of Aeden Finateri

The Alabama Crimson Tide baseball program picked up a commitment from Georgia Tech transfer pitcher Aeden Finateri on Saturday. The Connecticut native announced his commitment to the Crimson Tide via his X account.

Finateri spent three seasons with the Yellow Jackets. As a freshman, Finateri pitched in 19 games. He finished the season with an 0-1 record and a 7.09 earned run average.

As a sophomore, Finateri finished the season with a 2-4 record and a 4.64 earned run average. He threw 64 innings and struck out 56 batters. Finateri allowed 68 hits and 33 earned runs.

During his junior season, Finateri posted a 6-4 record and a 6.24 earned run average. He made 16 starts for the Yellow Jackets. In 75 innings, Finateri struck out 80 batters. He allowed 95 hits and 52 earned runs.

One former Alabama Crimson Tide baseball player will continue his college career in the SEC. On Wednesday, relief pitcher Alton Davis II announced that he was transferring to the Georgia Bulldogs via his X account.

Davis II spent two seasons in Tuscaloosa. The native of Hueytown, Alabama was a staple in the Alabama bullpen in both seasons. As a freshman, Davis II made 25 appearances for the Crimson Tide. He finished the season with a 1-2 record and a 5.35 earned run average. Davis II struck out 32 batters in 33.2 innings pitched.

As a sophomore, Davis II finished with a 4-2 record and a 5.61 earned run average. In 33.2 innings pitched, Davis II struck out 38 batters.

Alabama will have to replace Davis II as he was the “go to” reliever during the 2024 season. It will be interesting to see if Georgia decides to use Davis II as a starter or as a reliever.

Winstead spent three seasons with the Seahawks. As a freshman, Winstead recorded a 13-10 record with a 2.05 earned run average. She struck out 184 batters in 136.1 innings pitched. Following the conclusion of her freshman season, Winstead was named the CAA Pitcher of the Year.

As a sophomore, Winstead finished the season with a 5-4 record and a 3.20 earned run average. She struck out 76 batters in 76.2 innings pitched.

Winstead’s most impressive season came during her junior season. The North Carolina native posted a 13-8 record in the circle and maintained a 1.94 earned run average. She struck out 142 batters in 140.2 innings pitched.

Alabama will be without ace pitcher Kayla Beaver next season as she has used her final year of eligibility.
