Detroit Pistons at Indiana Pacers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Detroit Pistons at Indiana Pacers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Detroit Pistons (16-64) visit the Indiana Pacers (34-46) on Friday. Tip from Gainbridge Fieldhouse is set for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Pistons vs. Pacers odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Detroit failed to cover as an 11.5-point underdog in a 123-108 loss to the Brooklyn Nets Wednesday. It has now lost 11 games in a row. The Pistons are 3-6-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last 10 games, falling to 33-43-4 ATS on the season.

Indiana fell 138-129 to the New York Knicks Wednesday, failing to cover as a 5-point underdog. It has now lost back-to-back games and has dropped 8 of its last 10. The Pacers are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 outings and 41-39 ATS this season.

This will be the 4th matchup between Indiana and Detroit this season. Indiana holds a 2-1 series advantage, winning 124-115 as a 1.5-point underdog on Oct. 22 and 121-115 as a 3.5-point underdog on March 11. The Pistons then won 117-97 as 4-point home underdogs on March 13. The Over cashed in both Indiana wins and the Under connected in the Detroit victory.

Pistons at Pacers picks and predictions

Prediction

Pacers 125, Pistons 115

Moneyline

PASS.

The moneyline does not present a profitable play on the Pacers (-275) in this matchup, but I think they get the win.

Against the spread

LEAN PACERS -6.5 (-115).

The Pacers’ offense ranks 10th in the NBA in points per game (116) while the Pistons’ defense ranks just 27th in opponent points per game (118.8). Indiana is 22-18 ATS at home this season and Detroit is 16-20-3 ATS on the road.

The Pistons are just 4-12-1 ATS this season as 5-7-point underdogs and 3-6-1 ATS in their last 10 games including 1-3-1 ATS on the road in that span.

While the end of the season can typically result in obscure outcomes due to different players being shutdown, the Pacers still have the capability to defeat a Detroit team that is just 7-32 on the road this season.

LEAN PACERS -6.5 (-115).

Over/Under

BET OVER 230.5 (-105).

The Over is 4-0 in the Pistons’ last 4 games and 2-0 in their last 2 road games. The Over is 3-3 in the Pacers’ last 6 games but at this closing line, it would be 5-1. It is 3-2 in its last 5 home games as well.

Both teams have positive O/U records and the Over is 8-1 in their last 9 meetings between them in Indiana.

The Pacers rank 5th in the NBA in pace (101.52) while the Pistons rank 13th (99.83). Expect a lot of possessions and quick basketball to put the Over in a prime position to hit.

Detroit Pistons at Indiana Pacers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Detroit Pistons at Indiana Pacers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Detroit Pistons (1-1) visit Gainbridge Fieldhouse to face the Indiana Pacers (0-2) Saturday. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Pistons vs. Pacers odds, and our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Pistons suffered a 130-106 road loss to the New York Knicks as 7-point underdogs Friday. Detroit struggled beyond the arc, going 9-of-36 (25%). F Saddiq Bey led the Pistons with 26 points and made 4 of their 3s. The Pistons were down 29 points in the 3rd quarter before cutting the lead in half, only to see the Knicks make another run in the 4th quarter to put it away.

The Pacers took a 137-134 loss as 2-point favorites to the visiting San Antonio Spurs Friday. The Pacers fell behind immediately and trailed the entire game to one of the few teams with an expected win total lower than their own. Indiana made a furious comeback in the 4th quarter but was unable to catch up. Its defense without C Myles Turner is atrocious, having given up over 30 points in each quarter against San Antonio.

Pistons at Pacers picks and predictions

Prediction

Pistons 119, Pacers 110

Moneyline

Until this Pacers team shows some semblance of life in the first 3/4 of the game I won’t be tailing them. Turner is not expected to play again and without him, Indiana is going to be playing catchup.

If the Pistons can improve their field goal percentage, which should not be difficult against this Pacers squad, I expect them to stay ahead.

BET PISTONS (-112).

Against the spread

Home underdogs have not done so well covering so far this season, going 2-5-1. You can get nearly even money on Detroit to win by less than a field goal.

The Pistons have covered in 5 of their last 6 games in the second half of a back-to-back set.

LEAN PISTONS -1.5 (-103).

Over/Under

Both teams are playing the second of a back-to-back and should be exhausted. I know that the Pacer’s defense is a huge liability for this team. Unless they have already started tanking, it will be the reason they get the number 1 pick.

That being said last season both the Pacers and the Pistons playing on no rest tended to go Under. Indiana went 7-6-1 (54.8%) and Detroit went 8-4-1 (67.6%).

However, the Pistons have hit the Over in 6 straight games and in 6 of their past 7 road matchups.

I will AVOID.

Detroit Pistons at Indiana Pacers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Detroit Pistons at Indiana Pacers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Detroit Pistons (4-22) travel to Gainbridge Fieldhouse to take on the Indiana Pacers (12-18). Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Pistons vs. Pacers odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

After a rough start to the season, the Pacers are healthy and finally playing like the team everyone thought they were. While 4-6 over their last 10, Indiana has been 9-7 at home this season.

The Pacers are 15-14-1 against the spread and are 6-4-1 as home favorites. Indiana is 12th in the East and will enter as heavy favorites against the league-worst Pistons.

While No. 1 overall pick Cade Cunningham has been playing better, that hasn’t translated into wins for Detroit. At just 12-14, they also haven’t been covering at a high rate despite typically being sizeable underdogs.

Pistons at Pacers odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Pacers 112, Pistons 97

Money line

PASS on the money line.

No regular-season NBA favorite, especially one at -650, is worth betting. Additionally, the Pistons without their best player shouldn’t put up much of a fight.

Against the spread

BET on the PACERS -10.5 (-108) as they should run over the short-handed Pistons.

Rebounding is the real game-changer. The Pistons rank 22nd in defensive rebounding while the Pacers are No. 6 in offensive rebounding rate. Also, the Pistons are one of the worst turnover teams in the league.

Combine the rebounding difference and turnover issues in Detroit, and the Pacers, who have been dominant at home, should run away with this one.

Over/Under

“LEAN” to the UNDER 209.5 (-108) as the Pacers have a great interior defense with C Myles Turner. Turner is leading the league in blocks by a long shot.

He should be able to limit anything the Pistons try to do offensively. The Pistons are also the second-worst shooting team in the NBA, which could make for an ugly game.

Both teams are .500 or worse covering the Over this season as well.
