Prediction

Yankees 7, Phillies 2

Moneyline (ML)

The YANKEES (-154) are the STRONGEST PLAY vs. the Phillies (+140) in the series finale. Montgomery gives New York an edge in the starting pitching matchup, while RF Aaron Judge (7 home runs in the first 11 games) and Co. feature the more potent offense. The Yankees’ .257 batting average ranks 4th in the majors, while the Phillies’ are 10th at .241.

New to sports betting? It will take a $15.40 bet to profit $10 on the Yankees ML if they win. A $10 bet on the Phillies ML would profit $14 if they prevail.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The YANKEES -1.5 (-110) are worth a small wager if you don’t want to put it all on the ML. New York is 8-3 vs. the run line so far this season, while the Phillies +1.5 (-110) are 2-4.

Over/Under (O/U)

AVOID. The O/U is 10 with odds of -110 on both sides. The number is just about right – as long as the Yankees bats do their part. The Yankees are averaging 5.55 runs per game this season, while the Phillies are scoring 6.0 runs per game – though they’ve only played six games so far.

Philadelphia Phillies at New York Yankees odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Monday’s Philadelphia Phillies at New York Yankees sports betting odds and lines, with MLB betting picks, tips and best bets.

The New York Yankees (7-1) host the Philadelphia Phillies (1-2) Monday at Yankee Stadium at 7:05 p.m. ET to kick off a four-game home-and-home interleague series. We analyze the Yankees-Phillies MLB betting odds and lines, with picks and best bets.

Phillies at Yankees: Projected starting pitchers

RHP Jake Arrieta vs. RHP Gerrit Cole

Arrieta is finally scheduled to take the ball from his skipper Joe Girardi for the first time this season after the team gets back on track following a week off due to concerns associated with the Miami Marlins’ COVID-19 outbreak last weekend.

  • Arrieta posted an 8-8 record, 4.64 ERA and 110 strikeouts over 135 2/3 innings across 24 starts in 2019.
  • Arrieta hasn’t faced the Yankees since June 26, 2018, when he allowed six runs – three earned – and nine hits over five innings in a 6-0 loss.

Cole has been everything as advertised after signing a lucrative free-agent contract in the offseason, going 2-0 with a 3.09 ERA, 0.686 WHIP and 12 strikeouts across 11 2/3 innings in two starts to date.

  • This will officially be Cole’s first home start for the Yankees, although, of course, no fans will be in attendance.
  • Cole last faced the Phillies on July 5, 2017, allowing two earned runs, seven hits and a walk with eight strikeouts over six innings in a win as a member of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Prediction

Yankees 8, Phillies 3

Moneyline (ML)

The Yankees (-303) are overwhelming favorites against the Phillies, who have been sidelined for the past week. You cannot justify risking more than three times your potential return, so AVOID. You also cannot justify picking the Phillies (+260), who have had just two workouts in the past seven days and are likely to have considerable rust.

New to sports betting? A winning $10 bet on the Yankees (-334) would return a profit of just $3.30.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The YANKEES (-2.5, +100) are a better value on the run line, where they’ll need to win by at least 3 runs. The Yanks are red-hot lately, especially OF Aaron Judge, who has belted homers in five consecutive contests. Now he gets to face a pitcher who hasn’t pitched this season.

All rise for a win by at least 3 runs for the home team.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 9 (-115) is a good play. In fact, the way the Yankees have been rolling along, they could take care of the Over by themselves. The Yankees have averaged 7.2 runs per game across the past five. The big concern here is the Phillies, who will have to contribute something. That’s a tall order against an ace like Cole.
