Hart allowed four goals on 24 shots in a 5-4 overtime victory at Madison Square Garden in the front end of the back-to-back. He is 1-0-1 with a 2.82 GAA and .895 SV% in two starts against the Blueshirts this season. In March, however, he is just 1-3-0 with a 4.39 GAA and .828 SV% in five starts.

Georgiev has coughed up seven goals on the past 20 shots he has faced, getting pulled in each of his past two outings. He did top the Flyers Feb. 18 in Philadelphia, winning 3-2 in a shootout.

Against the spread (ATS)

The Flyers -1.5 (+200) could be considered for a small-unit wager, but they won last time out in OT, and each of their past three wins, and four of the past six, have been by just one goal. PASS.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 6 (-115) is worth a roll of the dice based upon Georgiev’s recent play, as well as the fact Hart coughs up more than three goals per contest. Hart has taken the circuitous route to a .500 record. He started out well, picking up victories in his first two starts, and he hasn’t won consecutive outings since. The good news is that he has lost back-to-back starts in regulation just once this season, too, as he has mostly been spinning his wheels in neutral. He has just one appearance against the Rangers, stopping 31 of 33 shots in a 3-2 shootout loss Feb. 18 at Wells Fargo Center.

Shesterkin has been battling a mild groin strain, and he hasn’t played since March 4 when he was injured against the New Jersey Devils. He will be looking for redemption after losing in Philadelphia Feb. 24, allowing four goals on 39 shots. Shesterkin had won back-to-back starts to kick off March before he was hurt.

The FLYERS (-115) have dropped four of the past five games, but they look to get well against the Rangers (+100). Philly is 1-0-1 in two games against New York this season, including a 4-3 win in the most recent meeting Feb. 24 as favorites. The Rangers have dropped three of the past four, as well, Shesterkin could be rusty in his potential return, and the offense has averaging just 1.8 goals per game over the previous four.

The Flyers -1.5 (+220) are a tempting play on the road, but both of the previous meetings have been decided by one goal, and there is no reason to risk it. Plus, Philly has been outscored 21-16 in the past five, so confidence isn’t terribly high that they’ll be able to rattle off a multi-goal win. PASS.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 6 (-105) is the lean in this one despite Philadelphia’s 6-1 Over run across the past seven. Back Samsonov and the CAPITALS (-110) to run it back following Sunday’s solid victory. The Caps registered 58.44% of the total shot attempts and 60.61% of the scoring chances at 5-on-5 in the 3-1 win.

Washington is better than Philadelphia in both metrics for the season as a whole. Elliott is the better of the two Philly netminders, but Samsonov is returning to his breakout 2019-20 form and should be given the edge in this goaltending battle.

Against the spread (ATS)

Both power-play and penalty-kill rates favor the Capitals, but the Flyers are the better-disciplined team with just 7.0 penalty minutes served per game. Both teams draw just 7.6 penalty minutes per game from their opponents.

The lean is to the UNDER 5.5 (-110). The Under cashed in Saturday’s 11-hour odyssey between the Avs and Golden Knights. The Under also cashed in last season’s game at the Air Force Academy between Colorado and the Los Angeles Kings. The Under is actually 3-1 in the past four NHL games played outside.

The New York Rangers (4-7-3) will finally hook up with the Philadelphia Flyers (8-3-2) Thursday for a 7 p.m. ET puck drop at Wells Fargo Center after Sunday’s scheduled game in the Big Apple was postponed due to COVID-19 issues throughout the Flyers roster. Below, we analyze the Rangers-Flyers NHL odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The Flyers have had four games delayed due to COVID concerns and haven’t played since a 7-4 win over the Washington Capitals Feb. 7. Six players remain on the COVID list, including C Claude Giroux and RW Jakub Voracek.

The Rangers took a 5-2 loss against the New Jersey Devils Tuesday and have lost four straight games while having two scheduled contests postponed until unspecified dates later in the season.

Igor Shesterkin (3-5-1, .918 SV%, 2.36 GAA) vs. Carter Hart (5-2-2, .897 SV%, 3.49 GAA)

Shesterkin’s numbers to begin his second year in the league are much better than his record, but he has been undone by a .853 save percentage with the Rangers shorthanded. He has allowed more than 2 goals in just one of his last six starts and is in desperate need of some goal support.

Hart has been a disappointment thus far in the season and is 5-2-2 only because of an abundance of goal support. He allowed 4 goals in each of his last two starts and managed to go 1-0-1. He has given up 11 power-play goals on just 40 shots with the Flyers shorthanded.

Money line (ML)

Give the advantage to Shesterkin in the goalie duel and back the RANGERS (-105) as slight underdogs on the road against the shorthanded Flyers.

The Flyers are third in the league in goals scored per game (3.54), but they’re 22nd in goals allowed (3.08). The Rangers also feature the league’s ninth-best penalty kill at an 82.98% success rate despite taking the ninth-most penalty minutes per game.

Philadelphia is last in 5-on-5 Corsi For percentage at 44.55% and while New York is also sub-50%, the Rangers have small edges in both scoring chances for and expected goals for at full strength.

Against the spread (ATS)

PASS on the spread. The 1.5 line is far too expensive to back the Rangers for just one goal of insurance. Take them to win outright in a game nearly priced as a pick ’em.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 6 (-120) is a strong play. Shesterkin should be up to the task of slowing down the Flyers offense and the Rangers struggling offense should allow Hart to turn in one of his better performances of late.

The Flyers are 9-4 against the O/U but the Rangers are 4-10. The Philly offense remains shorthanded and the Flyers are likely to be somewhat disjointed due to their erratic schedule of late.

Rask stopped 22 of 25 shots faced in Wednesday’s win over the Flyers. It was his third victory in his last four outings with the loss coming in overtime against the Washington Capitals Saturday. He has allowed 3 or 4 goals in three of those four games.

Elliott comes in for Friday’s game after starter Carter Hart allowed 4 goals on 35 shots in the overtime loss Wednesday. Elliott hasn’t been charged with a loss yet this season, but he allowed 3 goals in each of his last two outings.

The FLYERS (+120) are worth a shot for the upset on home ice after letting a 2-goal lead slip away Wednesday. The Bruins dominated puck possession with 53.68% of all shot attempts, including blocked and missed shots, at 5-on-5, but the Flyers had 58.33% of the even-strength scoring chances.

Boston was also opportunistic in scoring on 3 of 4 power-play opportunities. Even at a 28th-ranked 70.73% success rate, the Flyers penalty kill should be better than that.

Against the spread (ATS)

The FLYERS +1.5 (-250) can also be backed for the insurance on the puck line with a small wager. Their last three games have gone to extra time, and they won two of those over the Islanders. The Bruins are 4-0-1 in their last five games, and three of those went to overtime.

These teams met for a two-game set in Boston Jan. 21 and 23; Boston won the first game by a 5-4 score in a shootout.

Over/Under (O/U)

All three meetings between these two teams have seen at least 7 total goals scored. Rask should get right sooner than later, but there’s little reason to hope for the correction to come in this spot against the high-scoring Flyers.

Sorokin is expected to make his third start of the season. In his first NHL outing (Jan. 16) he was thrust into action, as Semyon Varlamov was injured in pregame warmups; Sorokin and the Isles lost 5-0 to the New York Rangers. He was more prepared last Sunday, allowing just two goals on 24 shots in a 2-0 loss to the New Jersey Devils. In each of his appearances, the Islanders’ offense has given him zero goals of support.

Elliott coughed up three goals on 26 shots last time out, Tuesday in New Jersey. He picked up the win in his second consecutive outing. Unlike Sorokin, the Flyers offense has provided 8 total goals of offensive support in his two starts.

The FLYERS (-125) picked up the overtime win by a 3-2 score Saturday, and you can expect a similar performance in Sunday’s back end of the double dip. Sorokin is due to get some semblance of offensive support, but Elliott has been steady and will outperform the Russian rookie.

Against the spread (ATS)

The Flyers -1.5 (+220) are a tempting play, as you can more than double up your investment. The Islanders have dropped five in a row on the road; however, these games are usually close, and you can’t count on Philly to win by more than 2 goals. PASS, and focus more on the money line.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 5.5 (-135) is the way to go, despite the overall trends in the head-to-head meetings. While the Over is 8-3 in the past 11 meetings in Philadelphia, and 14-5-1 in the past 20 meetings overall, the Under cashed Saturday. The two backup goaltenders are some of the better understudies in the league, and the goals will be hard to come by. Look to the Under for the win.
