Philadelphia Flyers at New York Rangers odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Friday’s Philadelphia Flyers at New York Rangers NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Philadelphia Flyers (21-18-7) and New York Rangers (23-18-6) are back at it again for the second straight night in the Big Apple. Friday’s puck drop will be at 7 p.m. ET at Madison Square Garden following the Flyers’ 3-2 victory Thursday. Below, we analyze the Flyers-Rangers odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

LW James van Riemsdyk scored twice and G Brian Elliott stopped 33 of 35 shots in the Flyers’ win Thursday. Philly is still sixth in the East Division. New York is fifth in the East but dropped back-to-back games following a four-game win streak.

Philly grabbed a 4-3 lead in the head-to-head season series with Thursday’s victory. The underdog is 4-3 in the season series, as well.

Flyers at Rangers: Projected starting goalies

Alex Lyon (0-1-0, .880 SV%, 4.40 GAA) vs. Alexandar Georgiev (7-5-2, .902 SV%, 2.79 GAA)

Lyon starts Friday with Carter Hart (knee) still on the injured list and Elliott starting Thursday. The third-string netminder has made one start and one relief appearance since March 31. He has a .880 save percentage and 4.40 goals against average in 18 career NHL games.

Georgiev looks to extend a personal win streak to three games. He is 3-1-2 with a .922 SV% and 2.47 GAA through seven games on home ice this season, and he’s 2-0-0 with one shutout and just 2 goals allowed on 48 shots against the Flyers.

Flyers at Rangers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Rangers 4, Flyers 1

Money line (ML)

The RANGERS (-155) came up short Thursday but have a greater edge in Thursday’s goaltending battle and deserved a better fate in Game 1 of this back-to-back.

Philly went 2-for-6 on the power play Thursday with the Rangers going 0-for-3. New York registered 52.6% of the total shot attempts.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The RANGERS -1.5 (+150) are more profitable for a win by at least 2 goals than they were Thursday and need to be backed once again.

Lyon has done little to inspire confidence in his limited NHL experience. Georgiev is best on home ice and has given the Flyers fits in two meetings this season.

Over/Under (O/U)

Back the UNDER 6.5 (-115) on a high total with Georgiev’s success against Philly in 2021.

The Rangers are ninth in the NHL in expected goals for at 5-on-5 since April 1, but the Flyers are just 20th.

Philadelphia Flyers at New York Rangers odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Thursday’s Philadelphia Flyers at New York Rangers NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Philadelphia Flyers (20-18-7) and New York Rangers (23-17-6) begin a Thursday-Friday back-to-back with a 7 p.m. ET puck drop at Madison Square Garden. Below, we analyze the Flyers-Rangers odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The Flyers have fallen into sixth in the East Division by going 8-13-4 since March 6. They lost back-to-back games on home ice coming into Thursday, including a 1-0 overtime loss to the New York Islanders Sunday.

The Rangers are fifth in the East and just outside of the playoff picture to begin this set. They had a four-game win streak snapped by a 6-1 loss to the Isles Tuesday.

The head-to-head season series is tied 3-3. Both teams have two regulation wins and a victory in extra time. Philly won 2-1 on home ice March 27 in the most recent clash.

Flyers at Rangers: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 7:50 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Flyers +140 (bet $100 to win $140) | Rangers -165 (bet $165 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Flyers +1.5 (-165) | Rangers -1.5 (+140)
  • Over/Under: 6.5 (O: -105 | U: -115)

Flyers at Rangers: Projected starting goalies

Brian Elliott (11-6-2, .892 SV%, 2.93 GAA) vs. Igor Shesterkin (13-10-3, .920 SV%, 2.43 GAA)

Elliott was charged with the overtime loss to the Islanders despite stopping 27 of 28 shots. He allowed 6 goals on 32 shots in a loss to the Washington Capitals the game before. He is 2-1-0 in four games against the Rangers with a .842 save percentage and 3.90 goals against average.

Shesterkin had a three-start win streak snapped in the blowout loss to the Islanders. He’s 5-1 in his last six outings on home ice and owns a .921 SV% and 2.42 GAA through 14 games at MSG. He’s 1-2-0 with a 3.06 GAA in three games against the Flyers but with a strong .925 SV%.

Flyers at Rangers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Rangers 4, Flyers 2

Money line (ML)

The Flyers took the most recent head-to-head meeting by a narrow 2-1 margin but that was on the heels of back-to-back losses to the RANGERS (-165) by an aggregate score of 17-3.

New York has been the better team for the bigger part of the season and has more motivation to chase down a playoff spot.

Shesterkin also gets the edge in the goaltending battle based on his splits on home ice and against the Flyers.

Back NEW YORK (-165).

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

Four of the six head-to-head meetings this season were played within a single goal with the Flyers holding a 3-1 record in those contests.

The 9-0 and 8-3 Rangers victories in the latter half of March are the anomalies, but the Rangers enter in much better form. Each of their last four wins, all as moderate-to-heavy favorites, was by a multi-goal margin.

Back the RANGERS -1.5 (+140) to win by at least 2 goals.

Over/Under (O/U)

Slight lean to the UNDER 6.5 (-115) based on Shesterkin’s strong play on home ice and in this season series.

Philadelphia Flyers at Pittsburgh Penguins odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Thursday’s Philadelphia Flyers at Pittsburgh Penguins NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Philadelphia Flyers (19-17-6) travel to meet the Pittsburgh Penguins (27-13-2) Thursday with a 7 p.m. ET puck drop at PPG Paints Arena. Below, we analyze the Flyers-Penguins odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The Flyers are in freefall, falling in four of the past five outings, including a 6-1 beatdown in Washington last time out on Tuesday. Perhaps a meeting with Pittsburgh will snap them out of it, as they have won three of the first five against their Keystone State rivals this season.

The Penguins streak in with three victories in a row, including a two-game sweep of the New Jersey Devils in Newark by an 11-6 count. The Penguins have scored four or more games in six straight outings, hitting the Over in each of their past five contests.

Flyers at Penguins: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 10:18 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Flyers +140 (bet $100 to win $140) | Penguins -165 (bet $165 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Flyers +1.5 (-165) | Penguins -1.5 (+140)
  • Over/Under: 6.5 (O: +100 | U: -120)

Flyers at Penguins: Projected starting goalies

Carter Hart (8-11-5, 3.79 GAA, .872 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Tristan Jarry (17-8-2, 2.84 GAA, .907 SV%)

Hart hasn’t won in seven starts dating back to March 18, but he has been a little better after a few disastrous starts. He coughed up 15 goals on 71 shots in his final three starts in March, but he has allowed just 11 goals on 102 shots in his four outings in April. However, he has received just nine total goals of offensive support.

Jarry has picked up back-to-back victories against the Rangers and Devils on the road, and he has yielded just three goals or fewer in 11 of his past 12 appearances. However, he is just 2-3-0 with a 4.32 GAA and .864 SV% in five starts against the Flyers this season.

Flyers at Penguins: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Penguins 5, Flyers 3

Money line (ML)

The PENGUINS (-165) are on a roll with 20 victories across the past 28 games, and they’re 5-1 in the past six against teams with a losing overall record.

The Flyers (+140) are skidding hard, winning just once in the past five outings, and they’re also 1-4 in the past five on the road. They’re also a dismal 4-14 in the previous 18 as an underdog and just 3-10 in the past 13 against winning teams.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The PENGUINS -1.5 (+140) are worth a play on the puck line, as they have won by two or more goals in each of the three games during their win streak.

Pittsburgh has also won 13 of its last 14 games by two or more goals, so if you’re backing Pittsburgh, you need to take them on the puck line, too.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 6.5 (+100) is worth playing lightly. The Over has cashed in five straight for Pittsburgh, as they have averaged 5.0 goals per game during the span. Conversely, Philadelphia has allowed 11 total goals in their past two losses.

Philadelphia Flyers at Washington Capitals odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Tuesday’s Philadelphia Flyers at Washington Capitals NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Philadelphia Flyers (19-16-6) visit the Washington Capitals (27-11-4) Tuesday with a 7 p.m. ET puck drop at Capital One Arena. Below, we analyze the Flyers-Capitals odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The Flyers are looking to rebound after an embarrassing 5-3 loss to the Buffalo Sabres Sunday. They have dropped three of their past four games, and five of their previous seven. Philadelphia has dropped three straight meetings with Washington, too, getting outscored 13-8.

The Capitals roughed up the Boston Bruins 8-1 on the road Sunday, and they have won each of their past two games after dropping a pair of games April 6 and 8. The Caps have cashed the Over in three straight games, and in seven of their previous nine.

Flyers at Capitals: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 10:45 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Flyers +135 (bet $100 to win $135) | Capitals -155 (bet $155 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Flyers +1.5 (-185) | Capitals -1.5 (+150)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: -120 | U: +100)

Flyers at Capitals: Projected starting goalies

Carter Hart (8-11-5, 3.79 GAA, .872 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Ilya Samsonov (9-3-1, 2.97 GAA, .894 SV%, 1 SO)

Hart has been in a nosedive and has dropped each of his past seven starts with his last win coming on the road against the New York Islanders March 18. He has posted a 1-2-0 record, 3.63 GAA and .883 SV% in three appearances against the Capitals.

Samsonov has coughed up four or more goals in each of his past four appearances but is 2-2 in that span. While he has been struggling lately, facing the Flyers might snap him out of it. He is 3-0-0 with a 2.67 GAA and .922 SV% in three starts against Philadelphia this season.

Flyers at Capitals: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Capitals 5, Flyers 3

Money line (ML)

The CAPITALS (-155) are a good bet at a moderate price. The Flyers have been an absolute disaster lately, including two losses to the cellar-dwelling Sabres across their past seven outings since March 31.

The Caps have won three straight in this series, and they routed the Bruins 8-1 last time out.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The CAPITALS -1.5 (+150) are worth playing, although you should play lightly.

While the Caps routed the B’s by 7 goals last time out, four of their past five wins were by just one goal. On a positive note, two of their three wins against Philly were by 2 or more goals.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 6 (-120) is a great play. Hart has been very shaky lately, and Samsonov has allowed 4 or more goals in four consecutive outings.

These goalies have been very giving, and we should see well in excess of 6 total goals.

Boston Bruins at Philadelphia Flyers odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Tuesday’s Boston Bruins at Philadelphia Flyers NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Boston Bruins (19-10-6) play the second end of a home-and-home with the Philadelphia Flyers (18-14-5) Tuesday with a 7 p.m. ET puck drop at Wells Fargo Center. Below, we analyze the Bruins-Flyers odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The Bruins are looking to bounce back after a disappointing 3-2 overtime loss against the Flyers at TD Garden in Boston Monday. Boston has alternated wins and losses in their past eight outings. The good news is that they haven’t lost consecutive games since March 13-15.

The Flyers picked up the win as moderate underdogs on Monday behind goaltender Brian Elliott. They’re 3-1-1 across the past five outings, with three of the games decided in either overtime or a shootout. Four of the five have been decided by one goal, too.

Bruins at Flyers: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 7:55 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Bruins -135 (bet $135 to win $100) | Flyers +115 (bet $100 to win $115)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Bruins -1.5 (+200) | Flyers +1.5 (-250)
  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Bruins at Flyers: Projected starting goalies

Dan Vladar (2-1-0, 2.25 GAA, .922 SV%) vs. Carter Hart (8-9-4, 3.92 GAA, .871 SV%, 1 SO)

Vladar coughed up three goals on 32 shots in Monday’s OT loss against the Flyers. Goaltender Tuukka Rask remains sidelined due to an upper-body injury, and Jaroslav Halak recently tested positive for COVID-19, so it appears Vladar will do the heavy lifting for the immediate future.

Hart was a lot better Saturday on the road against the Islanders, falling 3-2 in a shootout. But it was a tremendous improvement after he allowed 15 total goals in his three previous outings. Hart is 0-2-2 with a 5.32 GAA and .843 SV% in four starts against the B’s this season.

Bet $1 on either team’s money line, WIN $100 (in free bets) if either team scores a goal in the game. Betting offer available in CO, IA, IN, MI, NJ, PA, TN, VA and WV. Place your legal, online bets at BetMGM. New customer offer, terms and conditions apply. Bet now!

Bruins at Flyers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Bruins 6, Flyers 4

Money line (ML)

The BRUINS (-135) are using their third-string goaltender, but don’t be dissuaded by that against Hart and the Flyers (+115). The Philly backstop has coughed up nearly four goals per game, and he hasn’t been able to stop Boston yet this season. Roll with the visitors.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The BRUINS -1.5 (+200) are worth a small-unit play on the road, even with Vladar. Hart has just been so poor against the B’s that you have to back the road team here. Just don’t go crazy. I’d feel a lot better if Halak or Rask were in there instead, so there is a risk.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 5.5 (-110) is the best play on the board. Yes, we saw just five total goals in Boston in the front end of the home-and-home, but we also had Elliott in the cage for Philly. Hart is good for at least four goals allowed most nights, and Boston’s offense will be awfully ornery after being held down Monday.

Philadelphia Flyers at New York Islanders odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Philadelphia Flyers at New York Islanders NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Philadelphia Flyers (17-14-4) travel to meet the New York Islanders (23-10-4) Saturday with a 7 p.m. ET puck drop at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Below, we analyze the Flyers-Islanders odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The Flyers were dusted last time out against the Buffalo Sabres on the road, falling 6-1. That was stunning considering the Sabres entered on an 18-game winless drought. Despite that ugly loss, the Flyers have still won two of the past three.

The Islanders rolled up a season-high eight goals as they doubled up the visiting Washington Capitals by an 8-4 win. That snapped a two-game losing skid. At home, the Isles have won two in a row, including a 6-1 win over the Flyers on March 20.

Flyers at Islanders: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 7:23 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Flyers +150 (bet $100 to win $150) | Islanders -175 (bet $175 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Flyers +1.5 (-190) | Islanders -1.5 (+155)
  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: -105 | U: -115)

Flyers at Islanders: Projected starting goalies

Carter Hart (8-9-3, 4.04 GAA, .869 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Semyon Varlamov (15-7-3, 2.26 GAA, .919 SV%, 3 SO)

Hart has not only lost three straight, and four of the past five, he has been pounded lately. He coughed up five goals on just 11 shots in a loss March 25 against the Rangers, and he was blasted for six goals on 28 shots in a start March 20 in Uniondale in his most recent start against the Islanders.

Varlamov was in between the pipes Thursday in an 8-4 win over the Capitals, kicking off the month of April on a good note after closing March with losses in three of his final four outings. The last time he faced the Flyers was March 18, stopping 27 of 31 shots in a 4-3 loss at home.

Flyers at Islanders: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Islanders 5, Flyers 2

Money line (ML)

The ISLANDERS (-175) are a little high priced, but they’re coming off a season-high in goals scored. Yes, the Flyers (+150) will come in rested, but this is a team using a goalie yielding north of four goals per game, and a side which was pounded by the lowly Sabres last time out.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The ISLANDERS -1.5 (+155) are a nice value on the puck line, way more so than just picking them straight up on the money line.

New York has covered the puck line in just three of its past seven victories, so there is some risk here. But one of those covers came against Philadelphia on March 20 in a 6-1 win.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 5.5 (-105) is the way to go, especially with Hart patrolling the blue ice for the Fly Guys. He has a 4.04 GAA, which is just unheard of for a starting netminder. The Isles have the potential to take care of the Over all on their own.

Philadelphia Flyers at Buffalo Sabres odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Philadelphia Flyers at Buffalo Sabres NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Buffalo Sabres (6-23-5) will try once again to snap a losing skid, now sitting at 18 games, when they host the Philadelphia Flyers (17-13-4) for the second straight game Wednesday. Puck drop at KeyBank Center will be at 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Flyers-Sabres odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The Sabres coughed up a 3-0 40-minute lead Monday in a 4-3 overtime loss. The Flyers scored thrice in the third period and again in the first minute of OT for a second straight win. They sit fifth in the East Division.

Buffalo is eighth in the East and hasn’t won since beating the New Jersey Devils 4-1 Feb. 23. Only two of its last 18 losses went beyond regulation time.

Flyers at Sabres: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 12:27 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Flyers -190 (bet $190 to win $100) | Sabres +160 (bet $160 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Flyers -1.5 (+145) | Sabres +1.5 (-175)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: +100 | U: -120)

Flyers at Sabres: Projected starting goalies

Brian Elliott (9-4-1, .893 SV%, 2.84 GAA) vs. Linus Ullmark (5-5-3, .916 SV%, 2.60 GAA)

Elliott continues to handle No. 1 duties in favor of the struggling Carter Hart. The 35-year-old veteran has won the last two games for Philly following a personal three-game losing skid. He improved to 4-0-0 against the Sabres for the season with Monday’s win. H has two shutouts in the head-to-head series.

Ullmark will make his third start since a monthlong injury absence. He has allowed 7 goals on 72 shots in his last two games. Monday’s game was his first of the season against Philadelphia.

Flyers at Sabres: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Sabres 3, Flyers 2

Money line (ML)

The SABRES (+160) were close enough to victory Monday they should be backed to seal the deal in Wednesday’s rematch.

The Flyers are still just 6-9-1 in March even after back-to-back victories and fatigue is a concern for Elliott with his increased workload.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The Sabres are 1-3-2 against the Flyers in the head-to-head season series following Monday’s OT loss. They have a 6-1 win and three 3-0 losses, and both of the last two meetings went beyond 60 minutes with a March 9 contest in Philadelphia going to a shootout.

While the money line offers a much nicer return on investment, the SABRES +1.5 (-175) should be backed with 1 goal of insurance to keep it close once again.

Over/Under (O/U)

Ullmark has given the Sabres a much better chance to win games than any other Buffalo goaltender this season. Elliott has also been the better of the two Philly netminders.

Back the UNDER 6 (-120) with both teams averaging less than 50% of the scoring chances at 5-on-5 in their games this season.

  • Over/Under: 6 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Rangers at Flyers: Projected starting goalies

Igor Shesterkin (7-7-1, 2.36 GAA, .922 SV%) vs. Brian Elliott (7-4-1, 2.97 GAA, .887 SV%, 2 SO)

Shesterkin returned Thursday in the front end of the back-to-back after dealing with a three-week absence due to a groin injury. He made 41 saves on 44 shots in the 8-3 blowout win, and he didn’t show any ill effects of the ailment. He’ll be right back in there looking for a fourth straight victory overall.

Elliott was called upon early in the second period against the Rangers after Carter Hart was roughed up for five goals on 11 shots, looking more like a beer league goalie than a professional.

Elliott will be tasked with trying to cool off a Rangers offense that has scored three or more goals in all five meetings with the Flyers this season while averaging 8.5 goals per game across the past two meetings.

Rangers at Flyers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Flyers 5, Rangers 4

Money line (ML)

The FLYERS (+115) have had tremendous difficulty against the Rangers (-135) this season, but they are on home ice and will be looking to avenge an ugly loss on Thursday. I think Philly shows off some pride, especially with Elliott in the crease, as they turn the tables on the Blueshirts.

Against the spread (ATS)

The Flyers +1.5 (-250) are just too expensive on the puck line. Just roll with the home side straight up rather than fiddling with the puck line. PASS.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 6 (-115) is the play here. The Rangers have taken care of the Over themselves in the previous two meetings, totaling 17 goals against the Fly Guys.

The Over has cashed in each of the past four meetings, too, and we have had a whopping total of 11.5 combined goals per game in that four-game stretch.

Yes, Over. Bet it, and go hard. In fact, playing the alternate line of OVER 6.5 (+110) at plus-money is a good wager, and OVER 7.5 (+260) is even worth a small-unit play.

New York Islanders at Philadelphia Flyers odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Monday’s New York Islanders at Philadelphia Flyers NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The New York Islanders (20-8-4) hit the road against the Philadelphia Flyers (15-11-3) Monday with a 7 p.m. ET puck drop at Wells Fargo Center. Below, we analyze the Islanders-Flyers odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

Islanders at Flyers: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 7:45 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Islanders -130 (bet $130 to win $100) | Flyers +110 (bet $100 to win $110)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Islanders -1.5 (+200) | Flyers +1.5 (-250)
  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Islanders at Flyers: Projected starting goalies

Semyon Varlamov (13-6-3, 2.17 GAA, .923 SV%, 3 SO) vs. Carter Hart (8-7-3, 3.83 GAA, .875 SV%, 1 SO)

Varlamov is on a two-game slide, including his most recent outing on Thursday against the Flyers. He coughed up four goals on 31 shots in that game. While he has a 2.17 GAA overall, he is 0-1-1 with a 3.47 GAA and .854 SV% in two starts against Philly this season.

Hart won the first game against the Islanders Thursday, allowing three goals on 25 shots in a 4-3 win. However, he was pounded Saturday, roughed up for six goals on 28 shots. Still, he is 2-1-0 with a 3.61 GAA and .864 SV% in three outings against the Isles this season.

Islanders at Flyers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Islanders 5, Flyers 3

Money line (ML)

The ISLANDERS (-130) are favored on the road, and for good reason, too. Yes, these teams split on the Island in a two-game set Thursday and Saturday, and Varlamov lost the first start, but he has been the more consistent goalie of the two starters in this game. Plus, the Isles enter 10-2 across the past 12 outings, while cashing in 12 of the previous 15 as a favorite.

The Flyers (+110) have been terribly inconsistent lately, winning 5-4 in overtime against the Rangers March 15, then getting punched around 9-0 the next time out. They won 4-3 against the Isles Thursday, then were clubbed 6-1 Saturday. Will we get good Flyers or bad Flyers?

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The ISLANDERS -1.5 (+200) are worth a small-unit play as you try and double up. They won the most recent outing against the Flyers +1.5 (-250), and the Flyers have allowed 36 total goals over the past seven outings – or 5.1 goals per game.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 5.5 (-110) is the play in this one. While the trends point to the Under for the Islanders, Hart and the Flyers have been coughing up plenty of goals lately. The Over is 4-1 in Philly’s past five at home, and the Over has connected in 21 of their past 29 games overall. In addition, the Over is 17-5-1 in the previous 23 meetings in this series, and 9-3 across the past 12 meetings in Philadelphia.

Philadelphia Flyers at New York Islanders odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Thursday’s Philadelphia Flyers at New York Islanders NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Philadelphia Flyers (14-10-3) come off a 9-0 shellacking at the hands of the New York Rangers Wednesday and remain in the Big Apple to play the New York Islanders (19-7-4) Thursday in the first of a three-game set. Puck drop will be at 7 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Flyers-Islanders odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The Flyers beat the Rangers 5-4 in overtime Monday, but they gave up 9 goals in the first 39:39 of action Wednesday for their most embarrassing loss of the season. Philly has lost five of its last seven games.

The Isles had a nine-game win streak snapped with a 3-1 loss to the Washington Capitals Tuesday. They’ve surged into first place in the East Division while the Flyers have tumbled to fifth.

These teams will play two games in New York before relocating to Philadelphia for the final game of the set. The Flyers lead the season series 2-0 but both victories in late January were in overtime.

Flyers at Islanders: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 12:30 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Flyers +140 (bet $100 to win $140) | Islanders -165 (bet $165 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Flyers +1.5 (-200) | Islanders -1.5 (+165)
  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Flyers at Islanders: Projected starting goalies

Carter Hart (7-6-3, .880 SV%, 3.75 GAA) vs. Semyon Varlamov (13-5-3, .926 SV%, 2.08 GAA)

Hart relieved backup Brian Elliott, the better of the two Flyers netminders this season, Wednesday but allowed 4 goals on 16 shots in 32:30 of crease time. He won Monday’s game against the Rangers but with 4 goals allowed on a modest 24 shots.

Varlamov had a personal four-start win streak snapped by the Caps Tuesday when he allowed 3 goals on 22 shots. It was the first time in five games he allowed more than a pair of goals. He allowed 3 goals on 17 shots in an overtime loss in his only start this season against the Flyers.

Flyers at Islanders: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Islanders 4, Flyers 2

Money line (ML)

Wednesday’s implosion was an anomaly, but the Flyers’ troubles extend well beyond the single game. They’ve gone 3-6-0 and have been outscored 42-27 in March. The Islanders are 11-1-1 dating back to Feb. 22 and have outscored opponents 46-26.

The Flyers lead the season series but both of those needed extra time.

There’s plenty of value with the ISLANDERS (-165) for the outright win.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

ISLANDERS -1.5 (+165) is the superior play Thursday, as the Flyers can improve by a 7-goal margin from Wednesday’s disaster and still lose by 2.

Philly isn’t as bad as the result of its last game but the back-to-back situation, even with negligible travel, will prevent them from bouncing back immediately. A multi-goal Islanders win Thursday would be likely to get us better value on the Flyers for Saturday’s second game of this series.

Over/Under (O/U)

The Islanders were dealt a blow this week when captain LW Anders Lee (knee) was ruled out for the season, but New York’s improved goal production is the biggest reason for its rush up the standings over the last month.

Back the OVER 5.5 (-110) with New York facing a tired and shaken up goaltender.
