The Bachelor: Peter and Madison have already broken up

Peter and Madison’s doomed relationship has ended just days after the finale.

It’s been a week full of shocking news, but on Thursday evening, fans of The Bachelor received an update in their timelines that was entirely expected. Just two days after the disastrous live finale of Peter Weber’s season of The Bachelor, Peter and Madison have mutually decided to end their relationship.

To recap: Peter proposed to Hannah Ann during the penultimate episode of the season and she accepted, but they grew apart almost immediately, as Peter was still harboring feelings for Madison. Madison had broken up with him just prior to his proposal to Hannah Ann, citing their myriad differences and general incompatibility. Their relationship was also complicated by the fact that Peter’s immediate family believed Madison wasn’t a good match, and that Peter should pursue Hannah Ann.

Following Peter’s breakup with Hannah Ann, however, Bachelor host Chris Harrison flew to Alabama to inform Madison that Peter was now single, and she returned with Harrison to Los Angeles to reconnect with Peter. At the live finale, Peter’s mother and father spoke out against the potential relationship, with Peter’s mom warning that no one around Peter believes that the union will succeed. It turns out Barb was right! In a statement on Instagram, Peter wrote that the separation “is what makes most sense for the two of us.”

I want to start by acknowledging the incredible group of women that I had the privilege of getting to know this season. Thank you for coming on this journey with me. I learned so many lessons from all of you that I will carry with me. Madi, thank you for your patience and unconditional love. You’re the epitome of a woman who carries herself with grace, stands by what she believes in, and loves whole heartedly. That love is something I feel so grateful to have felt and will take a piece of that with me always going forward. Madi and I have mutually decided to not pursue our relationship any further. Believe me this was not easy for either of us to be ok with, but after a lot of honest conversations, we have agreed that this is what makes most sense for the two of us. The love and respect I have for Madi will continue to endure. Hannah Ann, you set an example for women everywhere a couple nights ago. You are such a strong, confident woman and you deserve all the love in the world. I accept full responsibility for my mistakes in our relationship and wish you only the best. This has been an emotional experience and I am so grateful for the outreach of support that I have received from friends, family, and Bachelor Nation in the last few days. Thank you to all of you! This is just a another chapter in my story. One I will never forget and one I will always cherish ❤️

So incredibly thankful for this amazing journey I’ve had the honor of being a part of. I have grown so much and am stronger than I was going in. I have learned the importance of acceptance, forgiveness, and grace. As Peter and I have decided to go our separate ways, I am confident that we will both move in the direction of our purpose and never forget that God has a plan in all things. I will always love and respect him. I am convinced our paths were meant to cross and we are both better because they did. @pilot_pete you are an amazing guy and I’m thankful for you. I will always be your biggest fan. And to the amazing women I met this season, I will love you for life. Thank you @abcnetwork for allowing me to embark on this journey. ❤️

Many Bachelor fans will likely blame Peter’s mother for poisoning the well and ensuring Peter and Madison could never have a happy relationship, but those people would be ignoring all the issues we saw during the dating process. This was never going to work. Madison already had to compromise her values significantly just to come back on the show, and that doesn’t bode well for a long-term relationship.

The unfortunate outcome is that Hannah Ann was pulled into this mess, but she would make for a great Bachelorette in 2021 after Clare Crawley. Make it happen, ABC!

The Bachelor finale was a bigger disaster than anyone could have predicted

An engagement, a breakup, a reunion, and all-out family warfare. The Bachelor finale had it all.

Bachelor host Chris Harrison touts every single season as “the most dramatic ever,” but this time around, he wasn’t lying.

Peter Weber’s unpredictable season as The Bachelor came to a close on Tuesday night, and the final two-episode delivered an engagement, a breakup, a reunion, and the start of an all-out war between the Bachelor’s new partner and his mother.

In part one of the finale, 23-year-old Madison broke up with Peter and walked away from the show, explaining to Peter that they simply are too incompatible to have a stable long-term relationship. Peter was heartbroken, and had appeared to be favoring Madison as his first choice, but a few days later he proposed to 23-year-old Hannah Ann, who accepted.

At the time, Peter seemed fairly certain that Hannah Ann was “The One,” remarking that she’s the “most beautiful spirit” that he’s ever met.

“I am choosing Hannah Ann because I am 100 percent certain, and I want to choose her every day.”

Things changed when Peter and Hannah Ann returned to the real world. It was revealed that Hannah Ann and Peter went through a period where they didn’t see each other for a month (Chris Harrison later said they hadn’t talked for a month, but given their conversation, it seems like they were still in contact). The issue was that Peter could not get over his breakup with Madison, and that he could not fully “give his heart” to Hannah Ann. The engagement was broken off, and in a fiery segment on stage on Tuesday, Hannah Ann roasted Peter for taking away her first engagement.

“If you want to be with a woman, you need to be a real man.”

This somehow wasn’t the wildest moment of the episode. Afterward, Chris Harrison revealed that he had flown to Auburn, Alabama, to meet with Madison and inform her of Peter’s situation. Madison was ready to give her relationship with Peter another try, and accompanied Harrison back to Los Angeles to meet with him.

The entire time this video package was playing out, and for the majority of the show, Bachelor producers kept a reaction camera on Peter’s mother Barbara, who had expressed on Monday’s show that she strongly preferred Hannah Ann over Madison. Barb didn’t disappoint with her facial expressions.

After Madison and Peter announced that they intend to resume their relationship, Chris Harrison interviewed Barb – who didn’t hold back. Barb criticized Madison for her behavior in Australia on the day she met with Peter’s family, and reiterated that she believes the relationship has no chance.

“He’s going to have to fail to succeed…. Everyone that knows him knows it’s not going to work.”

Barb was booed by the live audience and excoriated on Twitter, but I can’t help but feel that Bachelor producers crossed a line of decency that could have profoundly negative effects on the Weber family in the long-term.
Peter’s mom mentioned during the episode that she had received “DMs” over how she acted on Monday’s show, likely signaling that she had also seen the waves of criticism from fans who felt she manipulated Peter, or hated on Madison. She probably entered part two of the finale already feeling under attack, which is why her discussion with Chris felt more like a battle. It made for memorable TV, but it absolutely did not need to happen.

The Bachelor keeping a camera on Peter’s mom and show her reaction to the entire show was amusing for a few moments, but excessive and gross as it went on. She was made to be a laughingstock on national television, and I somehow can’t believe that will lead to a healthy relationship with her son’s new girlfriend. Before Peter and Madison walked off the stage on Tuesday, it already felt like he was going to have to choose between his new love (who he has serious compatibility issues with) and his family because of the way the finale was staged.

Good luck to the happy couple. They’re going to need it.

The Bachelor: Making sense of the rumor that Peter ends up with a producer

Running off with a producer may be Peter’s best option at this point.

Peter Weber has narrowed his cast of eligible Bachelorettes from 30 down to four, and on Monday’s episode we’ll see Peter meet the families of the four women he believes could potentially be his wife during hometown dates.

Peter’s season has been incredibly chaotic, and while there’s one clear favorite remaining on the cast, it’s easy to imagine all of his relationships ending in heartbreak. According to a recent rumor sweeping Bachelor Nation, though, the wildest twists are yet to come.

Last week, Reddit user Krallie posted a fairly convincing argument that Peter spurns his actual cast members and ends up with Bachelor producer Julie LaPlaca, and Bachelor fans are running with the theory.

Via Reddit user Krallie:

“I feel 98% confident that Peter winds up with the producer, Julie LaPlaca. A friend brought it up to me earlier and I just went down a rabbit hole investigating. I’m super on board with this theory for the below reasons:

They spent New Years Eve together, with his family. (Check her tagged pics, there’s a pic from his dad with her and their family at dinner.)”

(LaPlaca is seated to Peter’s right.)

LaPlaca also worked on Hannah Brown’s season of The Bachelorette, so she and Peter would have a history, and it’s likely that they spend a lot of time with each other during filming. As we see on the show at times, one role of the producer is to console the star of the season and the cast members, so it’s entirely plausible that Peter could have developed feelings for a show staff member. The narrative also fits at this point in the show, as Krallie points out.

“On the previews he says he’s “crazy in love with her”. We are down to 6 (I think?) girls and and he doesn’t even seem a little bit in love with any of them yet. Not crazy since they don’t get a ton of time together, but he gets tons of time with his producer… My guess is that she leaves because she doesn’t want to see him get engaged to someone else, and he winds up going after HER.”

We know from the season and episode previews that Bachelor host Chris Harrison will drop a bomb on Peter late in the season, potentially on the day that he plans to propose. Harrison tells Peter there’s something he should know that Harrison “just found out.” Fans speculated at the start of the season that Harrison’s revelation could be Hannah B.-related, but Krallie’s suggestion that Harrison tells Peter about a producer leaving is believable.

By far my favorite justification, though, is this:

“Yet another tagged photo shows her in a Seahawks hat.”

Peter is a Seahawks fan. She wore a Seahawks hat. It must be true!

Still, a quick review of Peter’s remaining relationships shows that his best option might be to pursue another option.

  • Madison: The clear favorite, but Peter may not be able to abide her ultimatum over having sex with other contestants.
  • Hannah Ann: Peter doesn’t seem entirely convinced that Hannah Ann, 22, is ready for marriage
  • Kelsey: Probably should have been eliminated weeks ago
  • Victoria F: Doesn’t seem to like Peter all that much, and the hometown date preview signaled the end of their relationship.

The rumor has gained so much momentum that ABC executive Robert Mills publicly addressed it, and did not “confirm or deny” the theory.

Via People:

“Well, I hate to get in the way of a good rumor, so I’m not going to confirm or deny about whether he ends up with a producer! I don’t know how we’d ever top that though! But, it is crazy.”

If the producer theory turns out to be true, it wouldn’t be the first time a crew member gets romantically involved in a season starring a pilot. During Jake Pavelka’s season of The Bachelor, contestant Rozlyn Papa was disqualified from the show for engaging in an “inappropriate relationship” with someone working on the show.

The Bachelor: Predicting Peter’s winner and who will be the next Bachelorette

Our predictions for this season of The Bachelor after one episode.

Peter Weber met the 30 women vying for his heart in Week 1 of The Bachelor last Monday, and he sent eight women home in the first Rose Ceremony. Former Bachelorette Hannah Brown stunned the other contestants by making a surprise return, and Peter offered Hannah a place on his cast if she’s willing to join. Which contestant is poised to go all the way, and who is the perfect pick to become the next Bachelorette? FTW’s Bachelor experts Nick Schwartz and Marissa Kasner made their picks after one episode:

Who will win Peter’s heart?

Marissa: Peter won’t be able to top his connection with Hannah B.

Peter told us before the season even started that “there’s a reason no one is going to find out the ending,” which is leaving many to speculate he’s yet to make a selection and it could be Hannah B. (Ashley I has a pretty plausible theory.)  I’m drinking this kool-aid.  As soon as I heard him claim no one will know the ending I suspected he hadn’t made a choice.

But after rekindling that chemistry week one, even though she definitely doesn’t move back into the mansion, I suspect Peter gets to the end, searches his soul and find his heart is still with 4-time windmill Hannah.  What else could possibly make him say “that last week was the hardest week of my entire life” and his mom say “go get our girl.”

Although I am on record saying I want the traditional happily ever after, I’m now here for Hannah B & Peter sitting in a tree.

Nick: Victoria P. is going to dominate this season

Disclaimer: If Peter makes the wrong choice and doesn’t offer Victoria P. his Final Rose, she’s a slam-dunk pick to be the next Bachelorette. She’s got an incredibly compelling backstory, and she just exudes the TV it-factor that ABC could bank on.

That being said, from the moment Peter excused himself from a conversation with Victoria to pick her flowers from outside the hotel, she became the leader in the clubhouse. His infatuation with Kelley will fade, Hannah Ann and Madison could make runs into the Final Four, but I’m betting this season ends with Peter popping the question to Vicky P.

Who will be the next Bachelorette (and who should be the next Bachelorette)

Marissa: We’re getting back-to-back Alabama Bachelorettes

Who I WANT to be the next Bachelorette (based on what we’ve seen) and who likely will be feel so very far apart.  It likely will be Madison.  Her heart will be broken after going all the way to the final two, she’ll have won over America, she’ll be the Bachelorette.

Conversely, I adore Victoria P., Alexa seems super interesting, and playing-by-the-rules Tammy could really use the lead role as a further try-out for her very own HGTV show.

Nick: It’s time to make Bachelorette history and bring back a repeat Bachelorette

Look, I know this probably isn’t going to happen, but it absolutely should. I suspect Hannah B. will decline Peter’s invitation to join the show (which probably would have been impossible given her Dancing With The Stars obligations at the time of filming), Peter will fall in love again, and Hannah B. may show up in Paradise. That’s not good enough.

Hannah Brown needs to be the next Bachelorette. She was robbed of a happy ending by the overwhelming destructive force that was Luke P., who poisoned the show and derailed Hannah’s relationships with other guys.

Why not give Hannah B. a second third fourth chance at love? She’s a beloved member of the Bachelor universe, and her success on DWTS means she has even more crossover appeal to potential viewers. Get a few of the sane guys from her season (let’s say Peter, Tyler C., and Garrett) to screen the cast members to eliminate and Luke P.-esque crazies and hopefully guarantee a happy ending. Who says no?!

Bachelor Power Rankings: Hannah B. crashes Peter’s party

Is Hannah B. still in love with Peter? Here’s everything we learned in Week 1 of The Bachelor.

Peter Weber’s season of The Bachelor premiered on Monday night with a three-hour marathon episode, and he narrowed his initial field of 30 Bachelorettes down to 22 after the first Rose Ceremony. Who are the favorites this season, and which women need to make up ground? We’ll be recapping each episode and ranking all the contestants weekly on FTW.

1. Kelley

It was revealed early on that Kelley previously met Peter in a hotel around a month before each of them arrived at the Bachelor mansion, and while the events of that night are as of yet a mystery, it’s clear that Kelly and Peter forged a very strong connection during their encounter.

Kelly was selected for the first group date, a day at flight school that culminated with an obstacle course race for the right to take a sunset flight with Peter. Kelley navigated the course expertly and the competition came down to a tricycle race against Tammy around a bunch of cones – but Kelly brazenly rode through all the curves and cut the track in order to win.

Tammy protested, yelling that Kelley was obviously cheating, but as we’ve seen before in this series, the rules are really more of a suggestion. Tammy likely would have won had Kelley adhered to the course guideline, but instead Kelley got to spend a romantic evening with Peter.

At the cocktail party that night, things got even weirder. The hotel hosting the party was the very same one where Kelley and Peter met, and they took the time to re-enact their first meeting. Peter made an aggressive move, hoisting Kelley onto a bar so they could kiss, and later rewarded her with the group date rose.

What happened, exactly, during this initial meeting in a hotel? Peter remarked during the episode that he had not stopped thinking about Kelley since they met, which would imply that they didn’t just have a short, introductory conversation a month earlier. Time will tell, but for now, Kelley has a major advantage on the field.

2. Victoria P.

Victoria P. breezed through the first rose ceremony and went on the flight school group date, where she bravely took a turn inside a human gyroscope despite knowing that she’d deal with motion sickness afterward (or during). She aced the ride and threw up in a nearby bathroom, but Peter rushed to check on her and make sure she was feeling OK.

That night, Peter recalled that Victoria P. had mentioned that she’d never received a rose from a man before, and he excused himself from their conversation to go pick a few flowers outside the hotel. I’m calling it now, Victoria P. is a lock for the final three.

Unranked: Hannah Brown

GUESS WHO’S BACK?

The show opened with Peter saying that he truly did fall in love with Hannah B., and given how strongly he felt for her, he was hopeful that he could fall in love again. Maybe he doesn’t have to! Hannah B. showed up on limo night, stunning the cast, to wish Peter well and give him a pair of wings that Peter had given her last season. It was a touching moment, and seemingly was the end of Hannah B.’s involvement in the season…. until she showed up on the second group date.

The second group date, which will occur next week, will be a performance in front of a live audience. With no previous explanation, Hannah launched into the iconic tale of her night inside a windmill with Peter, making all of Peter’s new love interests extremely uncomfortable, before revealing that each woman would have to tell  a story from their sex life to a crowd.

After the presentation, Peter found Hannah crying backstage, and she revealed that it’s been very difficult to return to the show and be around Peter, as she still apparently has feelings for him. Peter asked if she regrets sending him home on The Bachelorette, and Hannah said she questions it all the time. Peter then floated the idea of asking Hannah to join his cast, to which Hannah said “maybe.”

As I argued last season, it’s entirely possible that Hannah and Peter would be engaged right now if Luke P. hadn’t wrecked her entire season. While it’s highly unlikely she joins the show given how busy she was with Dancing With The Stars at the time of filming, you get the feeling this won’t be the last time we see Hannah.

3. Madison

Madison, a natural Hannah B. rival from Auburn, Alabama, earned the first solo date of the season – and was immediately thrust into an incredibly awkward position. Instead of getting to spend the day alone with Peter, Madison served as Peter’s date to his parents’ vow renewal ceremony. Before ever getting a chance to have a serious conversation with Peter, she was meeting his grandparents and family friends, and to her credit, she seemed to thrive in the environment. Madison got a glowing review from Peter’s mom, and even caught the bouquet.

Madison and Peter then went to dinner, and she told him that she felt at home with his family, and Peter said it was refreshing to hear her talk glowingly about her family. In a classic Bachelor move, the dinner turned into a surprise concert by Tenille Arts, who welcomed Peter’s family to invade Madison’s alone time for the rest of the night.

4. Hannah Ann

Hannah Ann decided to be aggressive on night one, and her decision to interrupt three separate conversations ended up scoring her the coveted First Impression Rose. After Peter had met all the women, Hannah immediately handed him a drink as he walked inside the mansion to give his opening address, which is a total pro move that I hope she plotted months in advance. In her first conversation with Peter, she presented him with a painting that she made with her dad, which will hopefully end up on eBay if she doesn’t win.

She then interrupted Deandra and Shiann, making early enemies in the process, but Peter said later that night that he appreciated how bold she was. The internet, however, was not as impressed, with some members of Bachelor Twitter comparing Hannah Ann to Luke P.

5. Tammy

Tammy was robbed. She made a memorable first impression on night one with Peter, screening him with a metal detector and planting a condom on his person to discover during a frisk. She then made a comeback in the flight school challenge and was poised to beat out Kelley and earn a private flight with Peter – but she played by the rules and lost. Tammy became a fan favorite in the first episode, and while I hope she can recover from this injustice, she likely at least secured a spot for herself in Paradise.

T-6. The “women we haven’t really met” division

The three-hour Bachelor premiere felt like a marathon, but there still wasn’t enough time to highlight all of the 30 women in the cast. Here are all the women who have yet to make a lasting impression, but did enough to escape the first Rose Ceremony.

Alayah

Alayah was the first woman out of the limo, and she brought Peter a letter from her grandmother to read later in the evening. A smart strategy!

Kelsey

I can’t remember anything Kelsey did aside from telling Peter that Hannah made a mistake by letting him go during her limo exit.

Kiarra

Kiarra HID INSIDE AN AVERAGE-SIZED SUITCASE and was rolled up to the mansion on a cart.

Lauren

Lauren didn’t do much in episode 1, but she gets points for wearing a sparkly bodysuit to stand out from the pack.

Lexi

Lexi arrived in a classic car because she “likes to go fast.” Peter pumped the brakes immediately and left her off both group dates, which isn’t a good sign.

Alexa

Alexa received a video introduction, which is usually an indicator that a contestant will be a major player, but was mostly invisible in the premiere.

Courtney

Courtney had a runway controller wave her in and she pedaled up to the mansion on a child’s plane-shaped bike.

Jasmine

We only saw Jasmine get interrupted by Victoria F. on the first night, and she wasn’t featured alone with Peter during the group date cocktail party.

Payton

The first thing she said to Peter was “FOUR TIMES,” which is maybe a questionable decision, but she made it through the Rose Ceremony and is on the second group date.

Sarah

Sarah is one of my early picks to make a deep run, but she had a very small role in the premiere.

Sydney

Sydney, who is a from Alabama, bawled in a confessional after not winning the flight school challenge. That night at the cocktail party, she was interrupted by Kelley.

———————-

17. Natasha

Natasha made it through night one, but it’s possible that a feud could derail her progress with Peter. When interrupted by Mykenna, Natasha came back immediately with a giant paper airplane, and then awkwardly stood a few feet away as Peter and Mykenna kissed.

18. Deandra

Deandra wore a windmill on her back to make her entrance, and asked Peter if he was ready for a fifth round. A little too on-the-nose.

19. Mykenna

Mykenna has future Bachelor in Paradise star vibes, and she got so much screen time in Week 1 that she’s clearly being set up as a main antagonist in the cast. Mykenna cried in a confessional after not getting the First Impression Rose, a result that made her “question a lot of things,” and also let out a primal roar when Hannah B. arrived to the mansion.

20. Shiann

Shiann gave Peter a barf bag for their first meeting, and spent the rest of the episode being severely emotionally affected by the actions of the other women in the mansion. You have to have Dylan-on-Hannah G. levels of tunnel vision to succeed in this game, and I’m not sure Shiann has the mettle.

21. Savannah

Savannah tried to be bold with her entrance, but went so far over the line that it was a bit creepy. She blindfolded Peter, did some ASMR whispering in one of his ears and then kissed him.

22. Eunice (eliminated)

Eunice should have advanced on the strength of this pun alone.

23. Maurissa (eliminated)

Maurissa received a video intro, and was one of the more surprising cuts in the Rose Ceremony. She made a pinky promise with Peter during their first meeting – and if Peter’s already breaking those, this season is headed for chaos.

24. Megan (eliminated)

Megan was one of three flight attendants in Peter’s cast – and Peter eliminated all three of them. She had one of the better introductions, using an intercom to announce she had “direct service to Peter’s heart.”

25. Jade (eliminated)

Jade may have received the least screen time of any contestant in Week 1. So long, Jade!

26. Avonlea (eliminated)

I’m mostly relieved I don’t have to learn how to pronounce Avonlea’s name.

27. Jenna (eliminated)

Jenna showed up at the mansion with an emotional support cow. Seriously.

28. Kylie (eliminated)

Kyle brought a package of condoms for her first meeting with Peter to rant about his windmill experience. Maybe next time don’t immediately remind Peter about all the sex he had with his ex-girlfriend?

29. Victoria F.

Peter’s decision to give Victoria F. a rose was the most shocking of the night, and given how dramatic she’s proven to be in confessionals, she feels like a contestant the producers want to keep around to spice things up. In her first meeting with Peter, Victoria F. stumbled through a joke about her dry sense of humor and laughed it off, resulting in a hilariously awkward moment. Later that night, Victoria F. brought up the joke again to Peter, who had to ask Victoria F. to repeat it because he couldn’t remember.

This crushed Victoria F., who couldn’t believe that Peter didn’t remember her punchline. Her chat with Peter was interrupted, which seemed to indicate that she only ever talked to him about a lame joke during the entirety of night one, and still somehow received a rose.

30. Katrina (eliminated)

Katrina has a hairless cat at home. That’s really all you need or want to know.

8 things we want to see in Peter’s season of ‘The Bachelor’

Previewing the new season of The Bachelor, starring Peter the pilot.

A new season of The Bachelor will begin on Monday (8 ET, ABC), and leading man Peter Weber will meet a total of 30 women hoping to win his heart in the premiere episode. Peter, a commercial pilot, appeared on Hannah Brown’s season of The Bachelorette last year and finished in third place.

It remains to be seen if Peter’s season will be as dysfunctional as Hannah B.’s or as devastating as Arie’s, but FTW’s Bachelor experts Nick Schwartz, Marissa Kasner and Greg Presto are ready for the drama. Here are eight things we hope to see during Peter’s journey to love.

1. An A-List celebrity cameo

Because Peter’s a huge Seahawks fan (he showed up on the Seahawks’ official Twitter account in December) I’m hopeful it’s Russell Wilson and Ciara on a group date… throwing or dance contest, either will do. But what I want most on this date is for Peter to be more into Russell than his lady suitors.

If we can’t have The Wilsons, I’ll take more Fred Willard. – Marissa Kasner

2. Cheesy pilot-themed graphics and songs

The last time the Bachelor was a pilot, Jake Pavelka’s entire season was themed “On the Wings of Love.” As he whittled the women down and went on three different helicopter dates, a cover of the 1982 Jeffrey Osborne song would swell and take over. The season’s tagline was “Wanted: Co-Pilot for Life”!

I’m hoping for Bachelor in Paradise-level fun to be had with Peter’s pilothood. All transitions between scenes should use clouds to cross-dissolve to the rose ceremony. Sky-writing to ask if women will accept his rose. And another theme to hammer it all home: “Wind Beneath My Wings,” “Fly Me to the Moon,” or something newer, like, I don’t know, “Like a G6.” – Greg Presto

3. A revelation that one of the contestants already has a partner at home

Preferably not the woman that Peter offers his Final Rose to, but nothing stokes up Bachelor Twitter quite like a bombshell report that one of the contestants already has someone at home and they’re only going on the show to increase their Instagram following or further their dog jingle careers– Nick Schwartz

4. A contestant crying because she hasn’t gotten to fly with Peter yet

To go with all the airplane-themed graphics and music, I’m expecting plenty of flying dates—at least one per episode. It’s a given that one of these dates will be with a woman who is afraid of heights, like Britt’s hot air balloon ride in Chris Soules’ season, or Tayshia’s bungee jumping expedition with Colton Underwood. But what could be fun: Someone crying that they don’t get to fly.

There’s always a contestant who thinks they should have more one-on-one time that they’re getting—to be made to feel special, to “ask the tough questions,” and really “get to know” the person they’ve been dating for 2 weeks. With Peter’s piloting, I’m hoping for a contestant who feels that, because she hasn’t flown with him yet, she hasn’t really gotten to know “his world.” Then: Crying. – Greg Presto

5. Windmills… in moderation

I’m super hopeful the flight/aviation [and windmill, for that matter] jokes subside after week one or two. We were fortunate enough that “Roll Tide” did not carry through the entire Hannah season; please, dear producers, pay us the same respect. – Marissa Kasner

6. Zero surprise concerts with no-name country artists

If you’ve watched a few seasons of The Bachelor or The Bachelorette, you know exactly what I’m talking about. The show tends to recycle certain date activities (it’s an absolute lock that we’ll see some bungee jumping in Peter’s season), but the surprise concert has always struck me as too over-the-top, even for this series. Without fail, a date will end with The Bachelor or Bachelorette leading their date into an auditorium where there just happens to be a crowd of cheering people and some artist you’ve never heard playing on stage. If we’re going to keep doing this, let’s spend some money, ABC. Give me Taylor Swift or something. – Nick Schwartz

7. Shop talk with the flight attendant contestants

I know the show has to be edited to be all about “finding love,” but I always want the conversations contestants have with the Bachelor or Bachelorette to be more interesting. There’s a Harlem Globetrotter in your cast, and you’re not just asking him 100 questions about dunking? There’s a DJ, and you’re not talking about music? A dental hygienist, and you don’t ask what “occlusal” means?

Peter’s cast of Bachelorettes doesn’t have any other pilots, but there are three flight attendants. Let’s hear them geek out! Another contestant—a marketing consultant, let’s say—comes to try to “steal him away,” but Peter brushes her off because he’s enthralled with one of the attendants’ tales of an emergency landing (“we were landing heavy”) in Stockholm, or a passenger who had to be literally dragged down the aisle because they weren’t upgraded to Economy Plus. We can get to whether people are “here for the right reasons” later. I want to hear some shop talk. – Greg Presto

8. A less chaotic ending

Finally, I’d like a less dramatic season ending. Yes, I said less dramatic. Arie’s After The Final Rose was great TV, but so, so sad; people had a hard time being excited about Becca & Garrett (I wish them well); Colton cheated us the Neil Lane appearance + engagement; Hannah and Jed were over before they started – again, great TV, but devastating! Give us a happily ever after, Peter! But also don’t make it obvious who you’re going to pick. Ok? Thanks. – Marissa Kasner
