Auburn WR target Ny Carr announces commitment to ACC program

Atleast he won’t be playing for Georgia.

Auburn was one of the schools recruiting four-star wide receiver [autotag]Ny Carr[/autotag] the hardest but the Tigers were unable to land the former Georgia Bulldog commit.

Carr will instead be taking his talents to Miami to play for Mario Cristobal and the Miami Hurricanes he announced Sunday on social media.

He is the No. 53 overall player and No. 11 wide receiver in the 247Sports composite ranking. He is also the No. 9 player from Georgia.

The Moultrie, Georgia native committed to the Bulldogs back in July 2022 but Auburn never stopped recruiting him and he took multiple visits to the Plains before decommitting on Sept. 24. He returned to Auburn on Sept. 30 to watch Auburn play Georgia and it looked like they were in a great place to land him.

That didn’t happen as the 5-foot-11, 168-pounder then made a visit to Miami this past weekend and committed to them over Auburn and others.

While Auburn certainly wanted to land Carr, they have already built an impressive wide receiver class that includes five-star [autotag]Perry Thompson[/autotag] and four-star prospects [autotag]Bryce Cain[/autotag] and [autotag]Malcolm Simmons[/autotag].

Five Auburn commits make Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game

Auburn commits Perry Thompson, Bryce Cain, J’Marrion Burnette, Jayden Lewis and Malik Blocton have been named to the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game.

Auburn is going to be well represented at the 2023 Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game with five commits being named to the roster.

The AHSAA announced the roster on Saturday and wide receivers [autotag]Perry Thompson[/autotag] and [autotag]Bryce Cain[/autotag], running back [autotag]J’Marrion Burnett[/autotag]e, defensive back [autotag]Jayden Lewis[/autotag] and defensive lineman [autotag]Malik Blocton[/autotag] all made the cut.

The AHSACDA All-Star Selection Committee selected the players from nominations submitted by member school coaches at a meeting this week at the AHSAA Office.

Thompson, Auburn’s five-star commit, has caught 33 passes for 466 yards and four touchdowns for Foley. He has also rushed and thrown a touchdown for Foley.

Cain is enjoying a breakout season for Baker. The speedster has snagged 26 receptions for 654 yards and 10 touchdowns, he has over 100 yards receiving in five of their six games.

Burnette has been battling an ankle injury and has played in just three games for Andalusia. He’s rushed for 157 yards and is averaging 5.2 yards per carry.

Blocton has made his presence felt for Pike Road so far, making 47 tackles, 3.0 sacks, 6.0 tackles for loss and one fumble recovery. Stats are not available for Lewis’ season but he has helped lead Anniston to a 4-3 record.

The game is set to be played Saturday, Dec. 16 at Carlisle H.H. Roberts Stadium in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, on the campus of the University of Southern Mississippi.

Two 2024 commits are on ‘flip watch’

Auburn has put together a solid 2024 class so far. How close are they to losing two of its key components?

[autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] has been praised for his efforts in putting together a stellar 2024 class in year one as head coach. As the season continues, there are two top commitments that Auburn will need to work hard in order to keep.

Four-star OL [autotag]Deandre Carter[/autotag] and four-star athlete [autotag]Jalewis Solomon[/autotag] were the subjects of On3’s interview with Auburn Live’s Jeffrey Lee this week. Lee told Josh Newburg of On3’s The Inside Scoop that those two are on high alert to flip, or even decommit.

Auburn beat out Texas for the commitment of Carter, but the Longhorns are far from out of it. Carter is set to officially visit Austin this weekend for Texas’ game with Kansas. Although Carter set the visit before committing to Auburn, Lee says there is room for worry.

“Anytime a commitment takes an official visit to another school I think there’s reason to be concerned,” Lee said. “If you want to look at the bright side on this, DeAndre Carter had planned this visit before he committed to Auburn … he gave (Texas) his word that he was going to visit for this game and he’s holding to it.”

As for Solomon, he chose Auburn over South Carolina during the summer. However, the Gamecocks were never out of the race. Lee describes Solomon’s thought process before ultimately committing to Auburn.

“He went from South Carolina, then he flipped to Auburn before the announcement. He went back to South Carolina about 15 minutes before the announcement. Then, his family was late to the announcement, delayed it an hour, and then he went back to Auburn, committed to Auburn,” Lee said. “He was so unsure, they were so even the day of his announcement — he’s certainly a guy you want to keep an eye on moving forward.”

According to 247Sports rankings, Auburn owns the No. 14 recruiting class of the 2024 cycle. Headliners include five-stars [autotag]Perry Thompson[/autotag] and [autotag]Demarcus Riddick[/autotag], as well as four-star quarterback [autotag]Walker White[/autotag]. In order to hold on to a top 15 class, Hugh Freeze and company will need to keep up their efforts in order to secure Carter and Solomon’s signature in December.

Key Auburn WR target Ny Carr decommits from Georgia

Can Hugh Freeze and Co. pull off another flip?

One of Auburn’s top targets is back on the open market.

Four-star wide receiver [autotag]Ny Carr[/autotag] had been committed to the Georgia Bulldogs since July 2022 but on Sunday he announced he was decommitting from the Bulldogs. This could be good news for Auburn as they have kept recruiting him and he visited for Big Cat Weekend in July.

Carr is the No. 53 overall player and No. 11 wide receiver in the 247Sports composite ranking. The Moultrie product is also the No. 9 player from Georgia.

He would be another great addition to what is a loaded class at wide receiver, potentially joining five-star [autotag]Perry Thompson[/autotag] and four-stars [autotag]Bryce Cain[/autotag] and [autotag]Malcolm Simmons[/autotag]. With Auburn’s wide receivers struggling to make an impact to start the season, wide receivers coach [autotag]Marcus Davis[/autotag] is looking to bring in a big class.

Auburn isn’t the only school that is making a push for Carr, Florida State and Miami are both looking to lure him out of the Peach State.

The 6-foot, 170-pounder has had a strong start to his senior season, catching 30 passes for 489 yards and nine touchdowns in four games for Colquitt County.

Tracking the Tigers: Where Auburn’s commits will play in Week 4

A matchup between Perry Thompson and Bryce Cain highlights this week’s matchups.

It is nearly time for another slate of high school football games and several Auburn commits have some exciting matchups.

The top game will be the showdown between wide receiver commits [autotag]Perry Thompson[/autotag] and [autotag]Bryce Cain[/autotag]. Cain and Baker are traveling to Foley with a 3-0 record and looking to keep their offense humming.

All but three of Auburn’s commits had games this week with only [autotag] DeAndre Cater[/autotag] (Mater Dei) and [autotag]Malcolm Simmons[/autotag] (Benjamin Russell) having byes. Cornerback commit [autotag]A’Mon Lane[/autotag] is set to miss some time after announcing on Thursday that he underwent surgery for a dislocated knee cap.

Two of Auburn’s commits suited up on Thursday instead of on Friday and went 1-1. [autotag]Kensley Fasutin[/autotag] and Naples suffered their first loss of the season, falling to 3-1. [autotag]Dimitry Nicolas[/autotag] and Norlan improved to 4-0 with a 42-7 win over Monsignor Pace. Stats for both games have not been released yet.

Here is a look at where the rest of Auburn’s commits will be playing this week.

Two Auburn commits are prime candidates to win Alabama’s Mr. Football in 2023

Auburn has locked in several of Alabama’s top recruits for the 2024 cycle, two of them are up for the state’s top award.

Auburn has found early success by locking in several of the state of Alabama’s top recruits for the 2024 cycle.

In the latest update from 247Sports, three of the state’s top 10 recruits, and nine of the top 25, are committed to Auburn. Two of those prized commits are considered to be candidates for the state of Alabama’s top award heading into the 2023 season.

Ben Thomas of AL.com recently revealed his top 20 candidates to win Mr. Football for the state of Alabama this season, and two of Auburn’s 2024 commits are in consideration for the postseason award.

The first Auburn commit mentioned is four-star running back [autotag]J’Marion Burnette[/autotag]. Burnette is the state’s No. 14 prospect and is poised to have another great season for Andalusia High School.

As a junior, he rushed for 1,473 yards and 17 TDs on 187 carries in just 11 games. He missed Andalusia’s state semifinal and state championship game after suffering a concussion in the quarterfinals. A healthy Burnette should pile up huge rushing statistics again.

Next up is the Tigers’ top commit for the cycle, five-star wide receiver [autotag]Perry Thompson[/autotag]. Thompson flipped his commitment from Alabama to Auburn during Big Cat Weekend in July and looks to finish his high school career in a big way as a two-way player for Clay-Chalkville.

A first-team Class 7A All-State receiver as a junior a year ago, Thompson caught 87 passes for 1,059 yards and 9 TDs for the Region 1 champions. He also had a pair of interceptions on defense and could play more on that side of the ball as a senior.

Although not committed, Auburn target [autotag]Alvin Henderson[/autotag] is also in the mix to win the award. Henderson is a four-star running back for the 2025 class and is the No. 10 player at his position. Last season at Elba, he rushed for over 200 yards per game.

Historically, ten winners of Alabama’s Mr. Football award have signed with Auburn. [autotag]Bo Nix[/autotag] was the last Auburn signee to with the award, doing so in 2019. [autotag]Kerryon Johnson[/autotag], [autotag]Cadillac Williams[/autotag], [autotag]Demarco McNeil[/autotag], and [autotag]Brandon Cox[/autotag] are other notable Auburn players to win the award.

Auburn offensive line target named to MaxPreps All-American team

DeAndre Carter is a key Auburn target and now he is a MaxPrep All-American.

[autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] and Auburn are hitting their stride on the recruiting trail, boasting the nation’s No. 15 ranked class, and have two five-star prospects committed in [autotag]Demarcus Riddick[/autotag] and [autotag]Perry Thompson[/autotag].

They could be closing in on landing another elite prospect in four-star offensive lineman [autotag]DeAndre Carter[/autotag], the California native made the cross-country trip to attend Big Cat Weekend and ever since predictions have been pouring in for him to join Auburn’s class.

Just how big would it be to land him? He was recently named to MaxPreps preseason All-American first team. Auburn’s struggles to recruit the offensive line under the two previous staffs are well documented and landing Carter would be further proof that things have changed on the Plains.

Carter is the No. 90 overall prospect and No. 2 interior offensive lineman in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is also the No. 13 player from California.

While he is listed as an interior player, Auburn and offensive line coach Jake Thornton believe the 6-foot-4, 340-pounder can also play tackle and have been recruiting him as both a guard and a tackle.

Auburn offers elite 2025 WR Cortez Mills

He is one of the top players in the 2025 recruiting cycle.

Auburn’s recruiting has kicked it up several notches under [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] and the Tigers are looking to keep the momentum going.

While it’s the 2024 class that has gotten the attention, Auburn’s coaches are starting to work on the 2025 cycle and on Friday they offered [autotag]Cortez Mills[/autotag], one of the top wide receivers in the country.

Mills is from Homestead, Florida, and already has over two dozen offers and more are surely on the way for the talented pass catcher. He is the No. 98 overall player and No. 16 wide receiver in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is also the No. 19 player from the Sunshine State.

Making the jump from the Sun Belt to the SEC, Auburn wide receiver coach [autotag]Marcus Davis[/autotag] has proven he can recruit at the highest level and Mills would be another big get. He has already flipped five-star wide receiver [autotag]Perry Thompson[/autotag] from Alabama and landed four-star targets [autotag]Bryce Cain[/autotag] and [autotag]Malcolm Simmons[/autotag], all in less than one year on the job.

The Tigers currently have one commit in their 2025 class, four-star defensive lineman [autotag]Malik Autry[/autotag].

A look at every five-star Auburn football has ever signed

Hugh Freeze is well on his way to expanding this list.

After a couple of down years, [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] and the rest of Auburn’s staff have Auburn recruiting as it should be.

Using the 247Sports Composite, they have the No. 18 class in the nation. This is extremely impressive when you consider that they have just 14 commits Alabama is the only school ahead of them with 14 or fewer commits.

The headliners of Auburn’s class are five-star prospects [autotag]Perry Thompson[/autotag] and [autotag]Demarcus Riddick[/autotag]. If Auburn can hold onto both it will be the first time they signed a five-star prospect since 2019 and just the sixth time since 2000 that they signed multiple in the same class.

The Tigers have signed 17 total composite five-stars since 2000, here is a look at each one of them and how their time at Auburn went.
