The nominees have been announced for the 2022 Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Year and, not surprisingly, two players from the New York Jets are up for the award.

Gardner led the league with 20 passes defended while Wilson set a Jets single-season record for receiving yards by a rookie with 1,103, which also ranked 15th in the entire league this season and was the most among all rookies. Jags QB Trevor Lawrence nominated for Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Week

Trevor Lawrence may not have had a perfect debut, but he still fared well enough to be on the ballot for Pepsi Rookie of the Week.

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence hasn’t played in his second regular season game yet and already has the chance to win an award. The No. 1 overall pick received a nomination for the NFL’s Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Week award after his performance against the Houston Texans Sunday.

Lawrence didn’t have a perfect day by any means but made a few throws that left fans in awe. He ultimately finished his regular season debut 28-of-51 for 332 yards and three touchdowns but also threw three picks. Despite the issues with turnovers, though, some believe Lawrence didn’t have as bad a day as the interceptions reflect, which appears to be the case with his nomination.

The Jags rookie is joined by Jacksonville native and Patriots quarterback Mac Jones, Bengals receiver  Ja’Marr Chase, Saints defensive back Paulson Adebo, DeVonta Smith, and 49ers running back Elijah Mitchell on the ballot.

Justin Herbert wins Pepsi Rookie of the Year Award over James Robinson, 3 others

Jaguars tailback James Robinson won’t be the Pepsi Rookie of the Year for 2020, but the best is yet to come for him.

Jacksonville Jaguars rookie James Robinson set a few records in the undrafted category, however, it still wasn’t enough to win the Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Year Award. Instead, the award went to Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert this week, who was the second-highest drafted player on the ballot (No. 6 overall selection).

While Robinson didn’t come away with the award, his season is one that Jags fans won’t forget, even with the team registering the worst record in the NFL. Ultimately, Robinson accumulated 240 carries for 1,070 yards and seven touchdowns.

Robinson finished the regular season fifth in rushing and was second amongst  rookies as Jonathan Taylor was the only first-year player to register more yards on the ground (1,169). However, Robinson may have been able to top Taylor, but he missed the Jags’ last two games with an ankle injury.

Robinson was on track to surpass the rushing yardage record for an undrafted player held by Indianapolis Colts running back Dominic Rhodes (1,104 yards) but was 34 yards short. However, Robinson was able to surpass Rhodes for the most yards from scrimmage by an undrafted player, accumulating 1,414 total yards on the season.

Robinson was on the Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Year ballot with Herbert, Taylor, Washington Football Team pass rusher Chase Young, and Minnesota Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson. However, with Herbert playing the most important position on the field (and performing well), it’s not shocking that he ended up winning the award.
