Analyzing Friday’s Pittsburgh Penguins at Vancouver Canucks odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Pittsburgh Penguins (4-2-1) and Vancouver Canucks (1-5-2) meet Friday at Rogers Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Penguins vs. Canucks odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Penguins opened the current 5-game road trip with a 6-3 win at the Columbus Blue Jackets, but they have had much less success north of the border. The Pens lost 6-3 at the Edmonton Oilers Monday and 4-1 at the Calgary Flames Tuesday.

The Canucks scored an entertaining 5-4 road win at the Seattle Kraken Thursday for their first victory of the season. While the team is just 1-5-2 overall, 4 of the previous 5 games have been decided by just 1 goal.

Penguins at Canucks projected goalies

Tristan Jarry (4-1-0, 2.81 GAA, .923 SV%) vs. Spencer Martin (0-0-1, 3.79 GAA, .879 SV%)

Jarry won his first 4 starts, allowing 3 or fewer goals in each of the outings. He had a rough go of it in Edmonton last time out Monday, coughing up 6 goals on 47 shots, but he’s well-rested and raring to go.

Martin has made just 1 start, allowing 4 goals on 33 shots in a start Oct. 18 in Columbus. The outing was the second end of a back-to-back situation.

Penguins at Canucks picks and predictions

Prediction

Penguins 5, Canucks 2

Moneyline

The PENGUINS (-165) are moderate favorites, but they come in rested. While it wasn’t a long trip by any means, the Canucks just played an emotional game in Seattle for their first win. Returning home against a marquee time on the second game of a back-to-back will have Vancouver back to its losing ways.

Puck line/Against the spread

The PENGUINS -1.5 (+140) is worth a look on the puck line, as it gets to face the untested Martin. Originally a third-round pick of the Colorado Avalanche in 2013, Martin has appeared in just 10 total NHL games over his 3-year career. With the Canucks skating on tired legs in front of him, the Pittsburgh offense should feast.

Over/Under

OVER 6.5 (-120) is a solid play, but only worth playing lightly. The Penguins should be able to do most of the heavy lifting for the Over, but the concern is the scoring for the Canucks.

The Over is 13-3 in the past 16 games overall for Pittsburgh dating back to last season and is 6-2 in its last 8 on the road. The Over is 12-5-2 in the past 19 games for Vancouver dating back to last season, and the Canucks combined for 9 total goals in a win in Seattle fewer than 24 hours ago.
