Notre Dame transfer portal tracker (2022)

An ongoing list of those departing and those entering…

The transfer portal is sweeping college football and changing the landscape of the entire sport like few things have before.  Although Notre Dame hasn’t been hit with a major loss by any means this season, there is still plenty of an impact that can be felt as nine different players have entered the portal since the start of the football season.

We assume it’s only a matter of time before the Irish land a few commitments in it but as of now that is not yet the case.

Here are those nine and the latest on their future destinations:

Notre Dame punter Bramblett, linebacker Moala enter transfer portal

Will you miss either of these guys?

It didn’t take long after Notre Dame’s Fiesta Bowl loss to Oklahoma State for two players to announce their future plans. One part is surprising, the other not so much. A tweet from Matt Zenitz of On3 indicated that Irish punter Jay Bramblett and linebacker Paul Moala will enter the transfer portal:

Bramblett, of course, has been the Irish’s punter for the past three years. In 13 games this season, he had 58 punts for an average of 42.6 yards. He was pressed into action plenty of times during the Fiesta Bowl with seven punts for an average of 36 yards.

Moala played in the Irish’s season opener at Florida State but suffered a season-ending Achilles injury for the second year in a row. The 12 games he played in 2019 were more than he played during his other three seasons with the Irish combined. A change in scenery most definitely would do him some good.

Notre Dame football news: Defender out for year

Notre Dame’s depth took a hit Saturday as one of their defensive players was lost for the season with an Achilles injury

The injury report has come back from Notre Dame’s 42-26 win over Florida State on Saturday night and for veteran defender Paul Moala, who tore his Achilles tendon and is out for the rest of 2020.

Brian Kelly made that announcement during his press conference on Monday.

Moala started his Notre Dame career as a safety but had been backing up Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah at the Rover linebacker position this season.

Kelly announced that Isaiah Pryor will move up and take Moala’s spot on the depth chart as the second Rover.

Moala had made seven tackles so far this season.  If you’re not as familiar with his work you may remember him as the guy who made the video game type play against Navy last year when scoring a defensive touchdown.

As always, keep it locked to Fighting Irish Wire for all the latest with the fourth-ranked Notre Dame football team.

No. 16 Notre Dame Rolls No. 23 Navy: 5 Instant Thoughts

On an afternoon where Notre Dame dominated in every fasset, nobody was more dominant than Chase Claypool, or Ch4ase Cl4ypool as he’ll be known for this afternoon.

No. 16 Notre Dame moved to 8-2 on the season after destroying No. 23 Navy 52-20 at Notre Dame Stadium on Saturday.

Ian Book helped lead the way offensively, throwing five touchdown passes on the afternoon, four of which went to Chase Claypool.  The blowout win was a pleasant site for Notre Dame fans who have grown accustomed to stressing through the Navy game with a “just survive and advance” feel on an annual basis.

With that here are your Five Instant Thoughts:
