Pat Sajak wrote a heartwarming Twitter thread about ‘feather in your cap’ Wheel of Fortune blunder

What a touching statement from Pat Sajak.

A major Wheel of Fortune gaffe has been making the rounds on social media after it took Tuesday’s trio of contestants a full two minutes to get the phrase “another feather in your cap” on what should have been an easy layup, all things considered.

It’s been some time since we’ve seen a huge Wheel of Fortune misstep that has everyone at home screaming the right answer. While frustrating, these moments are something to laugh at rather than get actually mad at. Unfortunately, that’s not often the case with social media, with vocal folks online taking things a bit too far with this latest Wheel of Fortune blunder.

Thankfully, host of the show Pat Sajak stepped forward to defend the three contestants in this heartwarming Twitter thread.

We are all human and we all make mistakes. After all, at the end of the day these contestants made a slightly embarrassing yet ultimately harmless mistake on national TV, nothing more. Good on Sajak for going to bat for them after that!

Pat Sajak and a ‘Wheel of Fortune’ contestant traded the goofiest dad jokes about fencing

Pat Sajak’s reaction was perfect.

Like any good game show host, Pat Sajak enjoys getting to know his Wheel of Fortune contestants and having a bit of fun with them. But this week when he made a goofy dad joke about one contestant’s interest in fencing, he was hilariously unamused by the equally silly response he received.

While introducing the contestants, Sajak asked a player named Greg about his passion for competitive historical fencing — which is not dressing up like old-school pirates, as the host speculated.

“It’s more of Renaissance outfits, and we do competitive fencing tournaments,” Greg explained. “We do multiple players on the field. So basically, I go out on the weekend and stab my friends, so it’s very cathartic.”

Sajak then changed the subject to Greg’s family, and when the contestant mentioned that he has a daughter who’s almost a teenager, Sajak fired off a dad joke. And it led to this funny exchange:

Sajak: “Well, just stay en garde. Fencing humor there.”
Greg: “I get the point.”

Greg seemed pretty proud of himself for that quip. But Sajak’s death-stare reaction to Greg’s dad joke is excellent. But we do wish Greg shared a little more about how competitive historical fencing works.
