The #Falcons have re-signed exclusive rights free agent TE Parker Hesse

The Atlanta Falcons have re-signed exclusive rights free agent Parker Hesse, the team announced via Twitter on Thursday evening. The 27-year-old tight end was active for all 17 games last season, finishing with nine catches for 89 receiving yards.

Hesse played 62 percent of the team’s offensive snaps. While primarily used as a blocking specialist, Hesse got extra playing time following Kyle Pitts’ injury.

Atlanta signed long snapper Liam McCullough on Wednesday.

The veteran quarterback somehow manages to get up and throw a pass to Parker Hesse for 5 yards and a first down.

Falcons sign TE Parker Hesse and guard Sam Jones

The Falcons added two players to their roster on Thursday evening, signing tight end Parker Hesse and offensive lineman Sam Jones.

The Atlanta Falcons have added two new players to the roster, signing tight end Parker Hesse and offensive guard Sam Jones, the team announced on Thursday evening.

Hesse, 25, was signed to the Tennessee Titans practice squad as an undrafted free agent in 2019 — the same year Arthur Smith took over as the team’s offensive coordinator. A former defensive end at the University of Iowa, the 6-foot-3, 260-pound Hesse should provide depth for the Falcons as a blocking tight end.

Jones, 25, is an athletic guard and former sixth-round pick of the Denver Broncos in 2018. He was released by the Colts on Wednesday, and while he’s yet to make an NFL start, he has upside in a zone scheme like the one Smith will run in Atlanta.

Tennessee Titans waive 3 players in Monday roster moves

The Titans made a trio of minor moves on Monday.

The Tennessee Titans made three roster moves on Monday, waiving tight end Parker Hesse, long snapper Matt Orzech and defensive end Nate Orchard, all of whom spent time with the team either on the practice squad or active roster during the 2020 campaign.

Orzech was originally signed off the Miami Dolphins’ practice squad last season as an insurance policy at long snapper.

Orchard was signed by Tennessee in January to provide some depth on the practice squad. While he didn’t see any action in Nashville, Orchard did see three games with Washington earlier in the season.

Hesse was one of several tight ends on Tennessee’s current roster and figured to have a chance to compete for a spot on the 53-man squad but was always a long shot to due his limitations in the passing game.

All three players figured to be long shots to make the roster, so none of these moves are particularly surprising.
