The Brooklyn Nets are currently building their team to be as competitive as possible for next season as they look to make the playoffs and potentially win a series or two. A recent announcement shows that part of Brooklyn’s journey through the regular-season will include them traveling overseas.
Via their official Twitter account, the Nets announced on Wednesday that they will be playing one of their 2023-24 regular-season games, Jan. 11, in Paris and that their opponent will be the Cleveland Cavaliers. This game will make the third time that an NBA regular-season game was played in Paris and will be Brooklyn’s second game played in Paris after playing a preseason game there in 2008.
What makes the matchup interesting is that Cleveland will be one of the teams that the Nets will be competing with to make the playoffs in the Eastern Conference. This game is also good for both teams to get exposure to an audience that’s outside of the United States and could increase revenue across the board. Brooklyn general manager Sean Marks seems to be all on board with this idea:
“We’re extremely excited to have the opportunity to compete in The NBA Paris Game 2024 and bring Nets basketball to an international stage. Our players and coaches will benefit greatly from the experience of immersing themselves in Paris’s rich culture off the court.”
Bonjour Paris 🇫🇷
See you in January!
