Panthers trading 3 draft picks to Jets for QB Sam Darnold

The Panthers are trading three draft picks to the Jets in exchange for QB Sam Darnold.
The deal is for a sixth-round pick this year, as well as second- and fourth-rounders in 2022.
The Jets figure to take a quarterback second overall, potentially BYU QB Zach Wilson.
The Panthers still have Teddy Bridgewater, but he could be on the trade block now that Darnold is in Carolina

Panthers also signing former Jets OLB Frankie Luvu to 1-year deal

The Panthers are adding former Jets outside linebacker Frankie Luvu to a one-year contract according to Joe Person at The Athletic.
Luvu went undrafted after playing his college ball at Washington State. He’s played for the Jets over the last three seasons mostly in a backup role, earning just four starts in 40 games.
Most likely the Panthers see Luvu as a rotational edge rusher. He’s struggled to tackle and in coverage but has six sacks, 16 QB hits, and 30 pressures since the 2018 season

Panthers signing former Cardinals OLB Haason Reddick

The Panthers are signing former Cardinals outside linebacker Haason Reddick, according to Adam Schefter at ESPN and multiple other reports.
The obvious connection for Reddick is with Carolina’s head coach, Matt Rhule – who coached him and several other current Panthers players during their time at Temple.
Arizona selected Reddick in the first round of the 2017 NFL draft. He mostly played inside linebacker his first few years, but really began to thrive when the Cardinals moved him out onto the edge last season.
Reddick posted 12.5 sacks, 16 quarterback hits, and 34 pressures. He also cut down his missed tackle rate from over 12% the previous two seasons to six percent in 2020

Report: Panthers working on 2-year deal with OT Cameron Erving

The Panthers clearly want to address their offensive line first in free agency. Already, there have been two reported deals in the works.
Adam Schefter at ESPN says Carolina and guard/center Pat Elflein have agreed to a three-year, $13.5 million deal.
Now, Jeremy Fowler at ESPN says the Panthers are also working on a two-year contract with free-agent offensive tackle Cameron Erving.
Erving has played 75 games in his NFL career so far between the Chiefs, Browns and Cowboys. Like Elflein, he offers offensive line depth.
Our best guess is coach Matt Rhule sees Erving as a swing tackle who can backup starting right tackle Taylor Moton and whoever starts on the blindside
