Panthers injury updates: 3 players questionable vs. Saints

The Panthers have not ruled anybody out for Sunday’s game. Three players are listed as questionable.

Here’s a phrase we haven’t heard in a while. The Panthers have not ruled anybody out for Sunday’s game. Three players are listed as questionable.

Cornerback Ross Cockrell was limited earlier this week with his quad injury. However, he joined the team on the field today and it sounds like they’re expecting him to suit up against the Saints. The other two questionables are rookie offensive tackles Dennis Daley and Greg Little.

For what its worth, yesterday coach Ron Rivera told reporters he anticipates Little will get the start at left tackle.

There are some notable exceptions (chiefly Cam Newton and Kawann Short both being on injured reserve and out for the year) but aside from that this is the healthiest Carolina has been all season.

It’s good timing, too. They’ll need all the help they can get in New Orleans, where they will be nearly double-digit underdogs.

Panthers injury updates: Only 1 player sits out Thursday practice

After a long season filled with bad injury luck, the Panthers seem to finally be getting healthy.

After a long season filled with bad injury luck, the Panthers seem to finally be getting healthy.

Only five players are listed on this week’s injury report and only one missed practice today: cornerback Ross Cockrell sat out again with the quad injury that kept him on the sidelines last week against the Falcons.

Four players were listed as limited on Thursday. Defensive tackle Gerald McCoy was out again with his NBD knee issue, rookie Dennis Daley still has a groin injury, safety Eric Reid is dealing with a knee problem and linebacker Shaq Thompson has an ankle issue.

Brian Burns was once again listed as a full participant. So was Greg Little, who coach Ron Rivera says he anticipates will play left tackle against the Saints. Little has been out most of the year in the concussion protocol and made his return against Atlanta. He had trouble with the Falcons’ pass rush but may just need some more time to get back up to speed.

Panthers Week 12 injury report: 3 players questionable vs. Saints

Here’s a look at the team’s Week 12 injury report, which is much shorter than it has been recently.

This season, the Panthers’ injury reports have been mostly disastrous. Critical players have missed a lot of time, especially the offensive and defensive lines and in the secondary. This week, things may finally be looking up.

Here’s a look at the team’s Week 12 injury report, which is much shorter than it has been recently.

Player Injury Wed Thu Fri Status
S Eric Reid Knee Limited Limited Full
CB Ross Cockrell Quad DNP DNP Limited Questionable
DT Gerald McCoy Knee DNP Limited Full
OT Dennis Daley Groin Limited Limited Full Questionable
OLB Brian Burns Wrist Full Full Full
LB Shaq Thompson Ankle Limited Limited Full
OT Greg Little Knee Full Full Questionable

As for who’s not listed, seeing neither Greg Little nor Christian McCaffrey’s names here is a very positive development.

McCoy’s knee is nothing to worry about and he has been resting on Wednesdays regularly. He hasn’t missed a game and has been Carolina’s most consistent defensive lineman this season. Cockrell’s absence proved to be a bigger deal than expected last week against the Falcons, so we will keep an eye on his status.

The major question mark is going to be Daley, who has played far better at left tackle than anybody else this year. They need him in the lineup.

Update:

This is about as healthy as the Panthers have been all year. Nobody has been ruled out and three players are listed as questionable. Two of them are left tackles, though. Ron Rivera anticipates it will be Little playing there this week.
