Panthers Highlights: Cam Newton’s 2015 season was legendary

Cam Newton’s performance in the 2015 season is the greatest individual achievement in Carolina Panthers history.

Cam Newton’s performance in the 2015 season is the greatest individual achievement in Carolina Panthers history.

Despite having to throw behind a porous offensive line to a weak group of wide receivers, Newton helped lead Carolina to a 15-1 record (the best in the NFL) during the regular season. He finished the year having thrown 35 touchdowns on a league-high 7.1% of his passes. Cam was equally impressive as a runner, totaling 636 rushing yards and 10 more touchdowns. He won the MVP award for his trouble.

Since he turns 31 years old today, it’s a good time to celebrate the peak of the Cam Newton-era Panthers.

Seven weeks after his release Newton remains a free agent. The latest reporting suggests he still wants to start but he is now willing to consider a backup QB role.

At the very least, every team in the league except the Saints could use Newton to improve their backup situation.
