“Of course I wanted to knock her out with the first slap,” VanZant told Charly Arnolt in her post-match interview. but I was ready for it. That was really fun. … I was surprised I wasn’t really that nervous. This feels really incredible.”

VanZant said she will be back in the future.

“Honestly this is too much fun to walk away from,” VanZant said. “That was so awesome. I told you all, I’m a gangster.”

Paige VanZant on upcoming Power Slap debut: ‘I am a woman who does whatever the f*ck I want’

Paige VanZant isn’t trying to justify her decision to do Power Slap to anyone.

LAS VEGAS – [autotag]Paige VanZant[/autotag] intends to continue competing in multiple combat sports, including slap fighting.

VanZant signed, who signed with Dana White’s Power Slap promotion, makes her slap fighting debut Friday at the UFC Apex against Christine Wolmarans, an 0-1 slap fighter from South Africa. A former UFC fighter, VanZant said she was approached with the idea of joining Power Slap, which she welcomed with open arms.

“I got called if I would do Power Slap. I said absolutely, and that was it,” VanZant told MMA Junkie and other reporters during a news conference Wednesday. “Signed the contract, and here I am to do Power Slap.

“I think it’s exciting for me because it’s like, listen, I am a gangster. Whether people want to admit it or not, I am here to slap somebody. It doesn’t matter what organization, what combat sport, I’m here to take over and have some fun.”

VanZant hasn’t always gotten her hand raised, but her toughness can’t be undermined. She has never been stopped by strikes throughout her combat sports career, which includes bare-knuckle boxing, and isn’t afraid to take damage in Power Slap.

“I look back at my UFC career, my bare-knuckle boxing career, everything that I’ve done, you can’t take away how tough I am, and this is like that ultimate test of toughness,” VanZant said. “Stand there, and you’ve got to be able to have the balls to be able to get hit.”

VanZant made her boxing debut in May when she fought influencer-turned-boxer Elle Brooke to a split draw. She didn’t end up rematching Brooke as initially planned, but that doesn’t mean she has abandoned boxing.

“I think for me the narrative right now perfectly falls in line with continuing to do Power Slap alongside doing my boxing,” VanZant said. “I still intend to box again at the end of the year. I’m waiting for the date on that. This fits in line with that.

“It’s preparation, it’s preparing to cause damage and try not to take damage, but inevitably in Power Slap you’re going to get hit. So who knows? I am a woman who does whatever the f*ck I want, and right now I want to do Power Slap.”

‘Adrenaline junkie’ Paige VanZant explains allure of Power Slap

“When I see stuff that’s crazy and exciting, it instantly just makes me want to do it,” Paige VanZant said ahead of her Power Slap debut Friday.

Add Power Slap to the list of things [autotag]Paige VanZant[/autotag] has decided to compete in.

VanZant went from the UFC to bare-knuckle boxing to professional wrestling to now signing with Dana White’s Power Slap promotion. She makes her debut Friday at the UFC Apex against Christine Wolmarans, an 0-1 slap fighter from South Africa.

“When I first saw Power Slap, I thought, ‘Holy sh*t, that’s insane,'” VanZant said in an interview with the UFC. “When I see stuff that’s crazy and exciting, it instantly just makes me want to do it. I’m definitely an adrenaline junkie, and I have been since a very young age.

“I did grow up dancing, and I was a cheerleader, but I just like to have the thrills in life. I think my biggest accolade is my toughness. I love to compete, I love to be violent, and this is literally the epitome of being a dog.”

VanZant sought help from Power Slap light heavyweight Austin Turpin, which has helped build up her confidence as she ventures into a new chapter in her career.

“I want to perform to the best of my ability, and having someone like Austin coming and help me just know exactly what to do to be prepared, that couldn’t have helped my confidence any more,” VanZant said. “I’m hungry to be successful in absolutely everything I do.

“I’ll continuously just prove to people that one, I like to compete, and two, I am a badass no matter what I look like. My opponent probably knows it’s not going to be easy to put me away, and I need to take a belt home. That’s the goal, and I’m not going to go anywhere until I get the belt.”

During the UFC on ABC 6 broadcast Saturday, the promotion announced VanZant has signed with Power Slap and debuts Friday at the UFC Apex. She competes against [autotag]Christine Wolmarans[/autotag], a 0-1 slap fighter from South Africa.

“I just signed a contract and whether motherf*ckers like it or not, I am doing Power Slap,” VanZant said on “A Kickass Love Story” podcast, shortly after the announcement. “I just signed a contract with Power Slap. Since her UFC departure, VanZant has found lucrative success in the adult influencer industry with OnlyFans. In September, VanZant said she made more money on OnlyFans in a single day than she did her entire fighting career.

Paige VanZant planning on Elle Brooke rematch for Misfits Boxing in London

After a split draw in her return, Paige VanZant appears to be on board with a rematch later this year against Elle Brooke.

After a split draw in her return to competitive combat sports Saturday, [autotag]Paige VanZant[/autotag] appears to be on board with a rematch later this year against [autotag]Elle Brooke[/autotag].

Brooke retained her Misfits Boxing middleweight title in the MF & DAZN: X Series 15 main event at NRG Arena in Houston. Brooke and VanZant each got a 48-46 score in the five-round fight. A third judge scored the bout a 47-47 draw.

While the talk immediately after the fight was on a potential rematch in Dubai, on Sunday VanZant posted on social media an August timeline for a rematch – but on Brooke’s U.K. home turf at The O2 in London, which Misfits Boxing reposted.

Separately, VanZant said she’ll be moving forward planning on a second fight with Brooke, who dropped her in the first round and landed several other big punches in the fight.

“Obviously, we didn’t get the result that we predicted last night,” VanZant said in a video posted to Instagram. “I really thought that I did enough at the end. My whole team thought we did enough. I think a lot of people did. The judging: a little bit nuts.

“But it looks like it sets up the perfect rematch. I’ve just got to go on her turf and take the belt there. So I’ll see all of you guys in London. … I’m just waiting for the bruise to heal, but should be back to camp and I’m excited. Let’s do this one more time.”

The fight was VanZant’s first combat sports outing since a unanimous decision loss in a bareknuckle boxing bout against Rachael Ostovich at BKFC 19 in July 2021. Although she has been competitive in her last four outings across MMA, boxing and bareknuckle, VanZant has not won a fight since she submitted Ostovich in January 2019 in the UFC.

Brooke is a social media influencer and OnlyFans model who crossed over into boxing. VanZant took the opposite route, but has said in recent months that she made more money in 24 hours on OnlyFans than she did in her entire UFC career, which spanned nine fights over around six years.

MF & DAZN: X Series 15 results: Paige VanZant knocked down early by Elle Brooke, rallies for split draw

Elle Brooke scored an early knockdown, but UFC vet Paige VanZant bounced back to earn a split draw in the MF & DAZN: X Series 15 main event.

UFC veteran [autotag]Paige VanZant[/autotag] hit the canvas early, but rallied to leave the judges unable to determine a winner in the MF & DAZN: X Series 15 main event vs. Elle Brooke.

The middleweight boxing bout at NRG Arena in Houston went the full five rounds, but VanZant was in trouble in the first round after Brooke dropped her with a solid punching combination punctuated with a sharp right hand. After the final bell, dueling 48-46 scores were submitted, while the third judge scored the fight 47-47, resulting in a split draw.

VanZant recovered and did her best to erase the memory of touching the canvas. Over the next four rounds, “12 Gauge” pressed forward, weathering a few more big punches from Brooke.

Two judges were split in determining a winner, while the third saw the fight even. As a result, the split draw allows Brooke to retain her Misfits middleweight title.

“It is what it is. It sets up the perfect rematch,” VanZant said during her in-ring post-fight interview. “… It looks like we’re going to do it one more time, I think in Dubai, it sounds like.”

Brooke wasn’t upset at the result, although she thought her early knockdown would have given her the nod. Regardless, she’s excited about the potential “big money” rematch in the near future.

The fight was VanZant’s first combat sports outing since a unanimous decision loss in a bareknuckle boxing bout against Rachael Ostovich at BKFC 19. Although she has been competitive in her last four outings across MMA, boxing and bareknuckle, VanZant has not recorded a win since submitting Ostovich when they met in the UFC in 2019.
