Jonathan Smith tried to return a serve from Michigan State tennis star Ozan Baris

In case you didn’t already know, Michigan State has become something of a tennis powerhouse, and they are led by their star, Ozan Baris, who was the Big Ten Player of the Year last season.

On Tuesday, Michigan State football coach Jonathan Smith took his team to the tennis courts to see him try to return a serve from Baris.

Jonathan Smith was unsuccessful, but his team was proud of him for at least getting a racquet on it.

Michigan State tennis doubles team wins fall National Championship

Max Sheldon and Ozan Baris have claimed MSU’s first National Championship in program history:

Michigan State’s tennis duo of Max Sheldon and Ozan Baris have made history at the ITA Fall National Championships, winning the doubles title, claiming the first national title in MSU program history.

The duo defeated Old Dominion brothers Conner and Codie Van Schalwyk in the national championship match to take the crown back to East Lansing.

Michigan State tennis star Ozan Baris wins Battle in the Bay

Ozan Baris is adding to his trophy case

Ozan Baris has been a star in his amateur career since arriving in East Lansing and he is continuing to add to his trophy case. Baris has won the Battle in the Bay tournament.

Baris defeated fellow MSU teammate Ronnie Hohmann, TCU’s Jack Pinnington and Illinois’s Karlis Ozolins en route to the championship.

Ozan Baris wins US Open Juniors doubles championship

Ozan Baris is a grand slam champion!

Michigan State tennis incomming freshman Ozan Baris is making waves on the national tennis scene. The Okemos native has just won the United States Open Juniors doubles championship.

Baris, alongside his partner Nishesh Basavareddy, has won a grand slam championship. His arrival to East Lansing is becoming more and more anticipated following this huge win on the amateur circuit.
