The Ottawa RedBlacks (1-0) and the Montreal Alouettes (2-0) meet Thursday for a Week 3 battle at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET (TSN/CFL+). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the RedBlacks vs. Alouettes odds, and make our expert CFL picks and predictions.
The RedBlacks were on a bye in Week 1, so they were the last CFL team to play their regular season opener. It was worth the wait, as Ottawa topped Winnipeg 23-19 as a 7-point underdog in Canada’s capital city in Week 2 as the Under (47.5) cashed.
The defending champion Alouettes play their home opener, raising a banner at Molson Stadium. The Als have picked up right where they left off, topping Winnipeg 27-12 in Week 1 as a 7.5-point underdog, while nipping Edmonton 23-20 in Week 2 as a 4-point favorite. The Under cashed in both of those road wins.
Montreal won all 4 meetings last season, while covering 3 of those games. In each of the covers by the Alouettes, they allowed 10.0 PPG, cashing the Under in each outing. In the lone cover by the Red Blacks, Montreal won 25-24 on Aug. 19, 2023, as the Over (47) connected.

RedBlacks at Alouettes picks and predictions
Prediction
Alouettes 25, RedBlacks 16
Moneyline
The Alouettes (-275) will cost you nearly 3 times your potential return, and that’s way too much risk for not nearly enough reward. Even as part of a multi-team parlay, including Montreal is just too risky.
And while the RedBlacks (+220) looked sharp in their initial outing in Week 2, they’ve dropped 5 straight against the defending champs, and Ottawa cannot be trusted.
PASS.
Against the spread
The ALOUETTES -6.5 (-110) are worth a look, especially if this line stays under a flat 7.
The RedBlacks +6.5 (-110) surprised last week in Winnipeg, but Montreal has also topped the Blue Bombers already this season. So, the jury is still out on Ottawa. The Als have been the kryptonite to the RedBlacks, and Ottawa is just 1-3 ATS in the past 4 meetings since June 10, 2023.
Over/Under
UNDER 47.5 (-110) is a strong play in this home opener for the defending champs.
The Under cashed in 3 of the 4 regular-season meetings in 2023, and Ottawa cashed low in its initial game of the 2024 campaign, while Montreal has hit the Under in each of its 2 games to date.
Go low, and feel confidently in doing so.
